Despite online services being shut down, I still find it quite relaxing to play. I mean, it's only $20 these days. But it shouldn't define the visual presentation and feeling of realistic driving, that a child or senior may want to go for. In other words, if you want to take photos with cars, race in a "campaign," or simply collect vehicles, this is your GT.

GT Sport is a racing game exclusive for the PS4. Since the online servers have shut down since 2024, the modes available feel very limited. Despite the limited modes, the modes are slightly fun to play. It has great driving physics and visuals. But, you mostly only get 1 new main circuit every time you level up, which is a slightly big flaw. It also has no career mode and the modes currently playable can get repetitive and boring. The Driving School mode can help new players to the game of how to play properly but will get old quickly. Overall, GT Sport is a good racing game but the weakest in the GT franchise.

sad to see the game has shut down but I loved the fact that you could play on vr because it felt like you was driving an actual car but it does say in the name “the real driving simulator”

The developers tried to move on with this game in a new direction which succeeded only in a few parts. Basically it was a multiplayer game with a few bonus missions for singleplayer. Not for everyone.

well.. for me it was the most DISAPPOINTED game in the series ever. . and it's more arcade than the sim game THEY WANT IT TO BE..
And it's not good with the controller like it used to be. Also the AI is TERRIBLE..They don't have any respect to you. And drive like young people in their first time ( SOME TIME ) which make your race is a nightmare..!!

2024 review/1.69 review details to keep in mind. 1.Livery feature is gone so any customisation is now gone, only manufacturer colours instead (was in 1.68 offline but was removed in 1.69 along with the online features). 2.Achievements (were used as a way for players to level up faster, so instead of grinding credits which would now be the case with these removed, they could play for 10 days or create 5 liveries, drive a certain amount of Miles/Kilometres, drift a certain amount, stuff like that and there would be solo and sport/multiplayer type ones. They helped with leveling up faster, credits (more grinding without them, which for 20 million classic cars takes it's time then the 2 million one that isn't competitive enough to beat it's events it can enter into) and mileage points used for upgrading cars to tune them (sort of like GT PSP with the favouriting but now with points to level up and unlock ranges of what can be tweaked for certain aspects than a favourite to unlock tuning for 30 cars that GT PSP offered) 3.With the server check/save gone the game functions normally like past games of a save feature. In the past offline was any content the player had access to from the online and arcade mode. So if they had played arcade mode online, they had their arcade mode progress saved, if offline no saving. If they had progressed enough to the Driving Challenges or other content progress (Career/League or Circuit Experience), players could still access them. But because the game was very restricted, garage cars or progression of driving challengers were technically impossible to access the second half of them. They were playable just not progress possible events. 4.Daily work brief drive reward cars cut. Same as PS store option to hide. With 1.69 all events are available for League, Driving Missions & Circuit Experience, progress for arcade mode should work fine. But yes Liveries, achievements & the Sport/multiplayer is removed. Split screen is still available though. Now for actual review now that the 1.69 details done. When starting GT Sport you'll have access to arcade mode, time trial, drift trial VR tour (VR arcade mode with 1 car, it's no career mode in VR like GT7 offers (was in a later update, no idea if works on a disk with later updates as PSVR reprint later), league/career (later update like VR tour), driving missions similar to GT6, some new ones with 30 laps, but others like the fuel or cone challenges are here. With circuit experience being like license tests but more segmented learning of the tracks every few corners at a time then a full lap, there are trophies to be graded on against times like license tests but different livery cosmetics were offered of Bronze to Gold of the tracks. Licenses are the same as past games, a time to beat & tutorials of the series to learn different things about how to control the car, deal with opponents, corners on certain tracks, etc. The levels go to 50 but career mode wise around 20-30 is enough. Music is fair in the league mode it's the GT1 or 2 arcade mode menu music, while others are fair licensed music. Some Daiki Kasho GT5, others new in this game. Physics are fair, cockpit view, settings I recommend removing the forced brake, same as Forza Motorsport 5+ do the same. It can help but in later events or even in GT7 a hindrance so even for newcomers don't recommend. Tuning can be as fine details as given along with the mileage points level barriers for ranges of speed, weight, everything else can be tweaked without mileage points. There is no tune shop. Brand Central/Dealers have fair range of cars, not as many as past games but there is no GT5/6 premium/standard cars they are all remodeled from scratch. History details for brands/cars are great & good videos for more info. Vision GT is more expanded then GT6 even 2 cups use them. Rally events are hmm pretty weak. Used in what a truck event and a rally event and that's it. I found them better for drifting points for achievements but those are gone so...... Very under used even if new Rally tracks. Many new original tracks feature here in this game with no old original tracks only previous world tracks return. That includes the annoyingly tied to their youtube channel then in the game license test/driving mission/circuit experience videos. I think built into the game would be better but if need to find them it's possible there too find them online as a guide/demonstration for what to do in those events. Ai are ok, sometimes I think tuning is needed to compete/other cars, other times not. Recommended/opponents list helps. AI/opponent in the F1 (different types), endurance (end of career mode), some high end one make events to be really unbalanced and tough, but the rest were well made enough. Pits don't need to be bothered with besides endurance events. More driving challenges unlock with a second lot of them. It's a fair game for a offline 1.69 state.

With the focus on online, and depending on updates for new content, this felt more like a prologue or a stepping stone to GT7. (rip servers)

An outstanding technical presentation and proven gameplay alone cannot overcome Gran Turismo Sport’s shallow campaign and overall lack of content. I’m not asking for a 1,000 car roster (eg. GT5), but I do expect a little more variety in the game.

One of the differences between last games and I know doesn’t have tunning but is really good game .It feels like a good simulator of most of the cars. Every car has an own handling. After 174 hours I say is reallly good. It is the only game that I played so much.

I played the singleplayer only and I have to say it is one of the best Racing Games I ever played. The missions were quite a challenge. I love the physics of the Game, great job by Polyphony!

GT7 is actually not bad, it was just ruined by microtransactions. THE GT SPORT ALSO HAS THIS PROBLEM, BUT NOT AS SERIOUSLY AS THE GT7. For me, both the GT7 and the GTS are good driving simulators to help me practice my cars.

Simply the 2nd best racing simulation of our time, GT7 being the number 1, This game is really competitive and fun, and the level of detail they have put into it is stunning beyond any forza, NFS, or IRacing could provide you, This also lets you compete in the world stage which is fun, a proper but yet dumb penalty system, I rather take a 5-sec penalty than a dumb mfer on Xbox to ram me in Forza motorsport.

Trash cut down game compared to the previous ones. Online required to save BS. Only purchased it cheap and pre-owned, because the little kids wanted to try the VR section. The VR is a visually middling experience. Low rez pixelated track look, but with a nice detailed car interior. GT used to be my goto game back on the PS2/3. A shame this mighty series has fallen to this low level mediorce and anti gamer practices. After trying several different VR games the motion sickness has finally gone. Still with all that plastic and rubber on the head? Head overheat happens pretty quicky. Yeah even when using a massive floor fan to try and counter it. Maybe I need to use PS/VR in the winter or something?

Not a traditional Gran Turismo game, but the online racing was very cool. Sort of an iRacing that you don't have to sell your organs to afford. The updates were cool, it has most of the tracks you would want in a racing game besides from Silverstone, the car selection, although a little bit now is still interesting. The driving is not hyper realistic, but it is easy to play without feeling unnatural. In my opinion, it get's a lot of undeserved hate because a lot of people expected a traditional Gran Turismo game even though the marketing team made it clear it wasn't (unlike a certain other game GT7). But I guess people were just really desperate for a PS4 Gran Turismo game so I can understand their disappointment.

lol, this game is a shame even with the monetization cr*p aside the single player mode is the worst in the history of the franchise, somehow almost all cups are accessible but you cant play none because you dont have the cars compatible with them, you dont know where or how the start 0 explanations and 0 ducks are given, disgusting game

Hands-down, one of the best Gran Turismo games I’ve ever played in my life. The handling of the cars in general is phenomenal without assists. Don’t think I’m ever gonna put this game down, this game is superior to Gran Turismo 7 in terms of handling the only thing that I truly lament is that there is no proper off-line single player, campaign mode huge bummer

I just bought this game two weeks ago, and I love it. The campaign really doesn't deserve the hate it gets. The driving is great and gives you the standard gran turismo feel. The Split screen works flawlessly as well. The one thing is the car list. It's okay as it is, but is nothing compared to my other Gran Turismo, that being 5. The one thing that saved this game is I bought this game early 2023 for only 15.49, and That cheap for a Gran Turismo game is already good enough, not to mention the cars and tracks added in update 1.68 make this game go from a 6 to an 8.

GT Sport is my first experience with Gran Turismo and it was enjoyable in the campaign mode, until I reached the professional league. My main problem with this game is the AI. Not only I have to start off most races mid pack to last in a rolling start, the AI is overpowered, doesn't make mistakes and specially the first few on the leaderboard... One thing is making a race challenging, a completely different one is to give them 50+ SECOND LEAD over 10 laps ! ... Are the devs serious? Is that any fun or competitive? NO! Its scripted ! No matter what car I take or how hard I try, the last racer always remains first... Even when chasing him for over 2 laps and a 3+ second difference... If I'm going to chase the AI, can I at least be in the Top 10 for fck sake ?! Another con, lots of cars in game are ridiculously overpriced, like the GT40 for an example, even the Miura ! The good things however are the handling, the cars, tracks and love the daily car rewards.

I bought GT Sport at release as I'm a huge Gran Turismo fan. I started playing GT2 in the late 90's and I love the Gran Turismo series. At first I was not too excited as it's mostly pushed to race online and I liked Gran Turismo for the career mode. The online racing is good and after many updates I think the penalty system is very good. I just wish there was a way to report bad users but the bad users do suffer from penalties and a bad sportsmanship rating which helps kick them out of your class eventually. No voice chat in the race lobbies is a bad omission also which makes no sense with this generation. The graphics are amazing, racing physics are great. this feels like a Gran Turismo game if you like the series you will enjoy this game. After years of update this is well polished with so many tracks and cars. If you buy now which is always under $20 you getting a steal for your money. The career mode now exist in GT League but is still a bit shallow and was an afterthought. If it had a better career mode it would be a 10. Looking forward to Gran Turismo 7.

The excellent car physics and the GT spirit are there, but otherwise, Sport reeks of an unessential spinoff. A little too streamlined and a bit uninspired.

Like all Gran Tourismo, the game is quite beautiful. The races are very nice. However, I am extremely disappointed and surprised that you need a subscription to play online! 22$/month - 60$/3 months - 140$/12 months It is unacceptable for me to contract a subscription to be able to play online a game that I bought. And for Gran Tourismo, playing offline is fine. But the whole point is to race online, to be able to compete with real players. I bought all the Gran Tourismo games from the first one to this one. This is the last time I buy a Gran Tourismo ! The publisher really takes his customers for cash cows! This is unacceptable !!!!

A good racing simulator and nothing beyond that. It looks good. I tried to race with my friends, but then i saw how much it can be boring. I know it is a simulator but this game is ONLY for simulation lovers. Do not buy this game if you like arcade racing games, because you will get bored very fast.

Gran Turismo Sport is my first foray into sim racing. Even though it isn't a proper sim (like iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Project Cars, rFactor, etc.), it's an excellent launchpad for people who want to get into sim racing and start with something a bit simpler. Gran Turismo Sport does several things well. For one, I love the driver rating system. It allows me to race against people with a similar amount of pace and skill as me, and it has really helped me improve quickly. I like the presence of Daily Races, albeit I wish there were more than 3 daily races. I also love the FIA races. The Manufacturer's Series and Nations Cup are two of the most competitive sporting environments I have ever experienced, and they're extremely fun. Next, the heads-up display in Gran Turismo Sport is outstanding. It is intuitive and extremely beneficial for new racers. It even allows you to enable and disable traction control mid race, a minor feature that actually helps many users with standing starts. However, the standout feature of the heads up display is the radar view. Radar view allows you to see if there are cars next to or behind you, and it is extremely helpful. I wish more racing games had something similar to it. If you want an introduction into competitive racing, this game offers that. However, there are things I want to see improved. First off, sportsmanship rating was not created well. I have driven against countless dirty drivers who somehow have the highest possible sportsmanship rating. That's a problem, and it has created some frustrating races. I also find the track selection to be quite disappointing. There are 31 tracks in the game as of this comment, some of which are original circuits, but most of which are real circuits. I just find that to be quite limiting. Next, we have the tutorials. While there are many great tutorials, there are many driving techniques that you don't learn. For example, the tutorials do not cover how to drive with no assists on. This makes the jump to online racing very difficult as online races will only allow anti-lock brakes and traction control. It also means you don't learn how to perform a non-TCS-assisted standing start. Finally, the penalty system is an absolute joke. I understand that it's difficult to build an algorithm that can properly determine what is an is not dirty driving, but it is completely broken. I have had races where I punt people off the track and get no penalty, but later get a 5 second wall collision penalty for getting nudged off the circuit and into a wall. The wall collision penalty has made street circuits impossible to race on, and the poor implementation of the game's penalty system has ruined so many races for me. It needs to be fixed. I noticed that the online nature of this game rubbed some the wrong way. The lack of career mode and lack of offline features were central to their comments. I think these people have misplaced their expectations for what GT Sport wanted to achieve. I haven't played the other Gran Turismo games, but in my experience playing Forza Motorsport 2 more than 10 years ago, I understand the thrill ****, offline racing game. I also understand the frustration over the necessity to buy Playstation Plus. My comment is this: if you want a game with tons of offline racing features, STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME. The offline features are severely lacking. However, if you want to get your feet wet with sim racing, buy this game, because it is extremely competitive, extremely fun, and an excellent place to start before graduating to a proper racing sim (such as the ones I mentioned.)

Well. This game is half done it seems. Only 400 cars, most of them drive like a wobbly piece of.. wobble. Multiplayer matchmaking doesnt work, there are no matches, just destruction derby, five OK clicks required to leave after a race (stats screen, rewards screen, timing table, chat screen,..). The handling of the cars is horrible. This sould be called Gran Turismo Understeer. So on daily races, everybody is hanging on their dear life through every corner. Oh my. Refund.

Another chapter by Polyphony Digital. Four years after the sixth title in the “canonical” series of Gran Turismo, the Sport title ranks as a difficult spin-off to interpret. The graphics are a nice glance, but certainly not the best on PlayStation 4. There are still some limits on the landscapes, but nothing scandalous. The gameplay, however, has the same problems that could be identified in Gran Turismo 6: AI that is anything but current, indeed not very "scalable" and decidedly not very competitive for the most trained player. The damage is still absent, and frankly, it could be added. The plot is absent, but being a sports game there is nothing to complain about. The cups are sufficient, yet the cars are fewer than GT6 and the circuits are few. Too few for a game that would like to be so close to the motorsport enthusiast. It is never easy to talk about sports video games, much less about cars. The vote would be barely sufficient in absolute terms. You certainly could have asked for more. It lacks innovation and the courage to dare something.

After initial hiccups with multiple updates and long waiting periods... I was finally able to play the game and enjoyed it until I tried Sport mode to notice that it doesn't work... other players online don't appear in my daily races. Racing alone defeats the purpose of online gaming. Too many down sides to a potentially great game...what a shame; what a waste of money and time.

You always needs to be connected on the internet, otherwise you can't do 90% of the game. The IA is poor. The cars are very expensive, so you can't buy a lot of cars. You gain cars that you already have and you can't sell it (you just can delete it from your garage). The online gameplay is good, but not even close other games like Forza, Project Cars, and others... The trophies in the game is too hard (you need to win most of the online races, and the matchmaking is very bad, Unfortunatly, for me, the Gran Turismo series died at GT5.
