Arguably the most original and inventive rhythm game since the advent of "Dance Dance Revolution" or the original "Parappa the Rapper," and it's easily one of the best rhythm games for the PlayStation 2.

A refreshing sip of musical ambrosia.

For the most part this is a fairly solid example of the genre, although positioning the cone can feel somewhat erratic thanks to the slightly jerky controls.

I have been waiting to play this game for 10 now I finally found it to a price I was willing to buy it. 20 years since the game was released it fun and unique Adventure who is truly hard at some point you are gonna have to get good to beat chapter 7 to 10, but it is a fun experience I would recommend if you're find a price you are willing to buy it

I start play this game 4 years ago, and now I'm still playing to it. The music are just perfect, the gameplay is perfect too. The only thing that is missed in this game are the graphics, that are bad, even for a PS2. A great difficulty, that game is just the perfection of rythme game.

A fantastic rhythm game with a fun premise, great difficulty curve and solid gameplay. Considering there's multiplayer thrown in to boot, there's not much bad to be said about Gitaroo Man unless you're simply not a fan of music games.
85
Overall it shows how a rhythm game should be made: it's weird, witty, and addictive.
80
The sheer appeal and addictive quality of this title is unmistakable.

The game system is very addictive, and the hilariously bizarre scenarios are wonderfully conceived and drawn, with each stage playing out like some futuristic rock opera from the fruity side of the Japanese aesthetic. [Mar 2002, p.43]

A fun game for a while, offering players cool music a weird story, and intense gameplay. [Feb 2002, p.44]

The music alone will draw you back for a few repeat plays, just don’t expect it to last much longer than a single rental period.

Not a bad game. Lots of variety in the music styles, but I believe this is it's weakness. While the songs are good, you will either love them or hate them. Personally I only really like a few of the songs, but the one that I did like were awesome the other, just felt more like a chore. The difficulty can be a bit brutal at times, but in no way impossible, so this does give it loads of replay value for perfectionists. Overall: An OK game with loads of character. Either you like it, or you don't. It's not for everyone.
SummaryAn entirely new type of music/rhythm game, where your instrument is your weapon to fight against evil. Unlike traditional music games which simply featured pressing buttons in rhythm with on screen actions, Gitaroo-Man requires players to use both the analog stick and the controller buttons at the same time, controlling the on-screen cha...
