A beautiful action adventure that incorporates a dash of RPG and a dose of fighting game, Eve of Extinction suffers from a dull, weak plot.

Poor sound effects, sometimes misused, uninteresting music, bad voice acting, merely decent graphics, the same enemies over and over again, only seven and a half hours of gameplay, and the game still manages to be fun.

Enemies should have been varied, the game should have been longer, the complaints go on and on, yet EOE can still prove to be fun.

Because the combo system doesn't play a major role in the game due to the AI being brain dead, the game dies out rather quickly and many will get instantly bored with the title.

The enemy AI is so poor that fighting becomes repetitive . . . and boring.

It left a bad taste in my mouth.

I went from disliking the lack of depth in EOE, to enjoying all the extras, to getting fed up with the control flaws; all in the span of one sitting. [Apr 2002, p.74]

A goofy, good-looking fighter, with a definite challenge to dexterity but devoid of any real depth, especially geared to those who enjoyed the Anytown urban cinescapes of "The Matrix."

There's a ridiculous amount of flickering and billions of jaggies per square inch. There's also a small amount of slowdown when there are a lot of enemies on screen as well as some background animations.

With its main story mode clocking in at around five hours, there's little long-term replay value.
