Dunjungle is a fun and familiar Roguelike with smooth combat, plenty of punishment, and loads of content for those who want to play forever.

Dunjungle takes familiar action-roguelike ideas and juices them up with smart customization, brutal-but-fair combat, and enough risk/reward temptation to keep every run exciting. It’s tough, occasionally cruel, and constantly enticing you to make bad decisions, which is what makes it so hard to put down.

Dunjungle presents a charismatic, accessible, and competent adventure within the action roguelite genre. Its pixel art direction, light humor, and agile gameplay make each attempt fun, even when the repetition of rooms starts to appear. Although it doesn't reinvent the genre and clearly follows references from other successful titles, the game still builds its own identity and offers a solid experience for those seeking something uncomplicated, addictive, and with constant progression.

If you miss Dead Cells and are sad that its developers moved on to work on other projects, Dunjungle does a lot to fill that void. The game does plenty to satisfy fans of fast-paced roguelike platformers, with a cathartic and diverse combat and upgrade system bursting with customisation options to mix up each run. While Dunjungle won’t satisfy anyone looking for a deep narrative, its pleasing pixel art did enough to charm me. It may take a while to unlock most of its content, but once you’re past those slow early hours, Dunjungle is a load of fun and brims with variety. I had a great time with Dunjungle, and if you like roguelike platformers, you likely will as well.
