OK this one went a little too hard and missed the mark. A lot of important updates but it really felt like the beginning of the end. Something just wasn't right and you could feel it.

good expansion overall not as good as the Taken King but it left the game in a good shape overall getting to finally use Gjalahorn for the first time after never getting it was so much fun age of triumph was a great update and made it so d1 could be played long after release just wish they kept doing trials and iron banner on a rotation but overall a good expansion and send off wrath of the machine was such a good raid top 5 easily the secret hunting for outbreak prime was a blast the balance was good so was the meta mostly and overall did its job well

*Rise of Iron* is the final expansion for *Destiny*, taking Guardians on an epic new adventure to face an ancient threat: the SIVA Plague, a corrupted technology that turns the Fallen into formidable enemies. Players join Lord Saladin to combat this plague and honor the legacy of the fallen Iron Lords. While the story is brief, it delivers a more cinematic and emotional narrative, adding depth to the lore by exploring the history of the Iron Lords and introducing new areas like the Plaguelands.*Rise of Iron* also brings a new raid, *Wrath of the Machine*, which has been praised for its innovative design and challenging mechanics that demand team cooperation and coordination. It’s considered one of the most enjoyable raids, featuring intense sections and memorable boss fights that fully embrace the SIVA theme. The *Archon’s Forge*, a PvE horde-style arena, adds another engaging group activity for players seeking additional **** terms of gear, *Rise of Iron* includes new Iron Lord and SIVA-themed weapons, armor, and exotics, giving players even more reasons to keep playing. The maximum Light level has also been raised, providing additional progression goals. The soundtrack, powerful and orchestral, perfectly complements the epic tone of the **** summary, *Rise of Iron* delivers a rich blend of story, challenging activities, and thematic gear, creating a fitting and memorable close to *Destiny*'s expansions and leaving players with new adventures to conquer in the world of the Iron Lords.

Rise of Iron was a letdown in comparison to the Taken King with a confusing story, solid characters, great graphics, and overall, a lackluster expansion to a solid game on its own.

Well, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The addition of Archon’s Forge was probably the only highlight of this “expansion”. The content is still better than most of what Vanilla Destiny had to offer (which makes sense - if you compare a filled juice box to an empty one (getting thirsty writing these unredable reviews - to those whom decided to read it: congrats on wasting your time)). It’s a huge step back from what The Taken King did for this game, but if you’re some kinda hardcore Destiny fan, then you probably would not care about this review to begin with. However it was not worth the price of 300DKK it costed during it’s release.

Destiny: Rise of Iron is a disappointing send off to a controversial game. Packed with less content than last year's The Taken King, Rise of Iron still costs $45AU on launch. Rise of Iron contains a volume of content closer to The Dark Below and House of Wolves, then the original Destiny or the fantastic The Taken King.

Looking back on Destiny as a whole, it is clear to me that Destiny is a testing ground and massive experiment conducted by Bungie just to make the new sequel tuned and finely made, because Rise of Iron regresses back the roots of Destiny, and much of its problems resurface as a result. The story was short and terrible, with Saladin having a poor form of character and new NPCs that deliver nothing meaningful. The raid is great, but mired by social issues and problems that make completing one a pain in the ass to do. The new area is cool, but it is a rework of the same area we have all already been in. In fact, that is exactly what Rise of Iron is: more of the same, for better or worse. The new armor pieces, challenge book and raid is sweet, but returning to the roots really brings out the stupid and lazy work of Bungie's team that, even in its third year, Destiny just cannot rise up to the hype it set itself to. It has so much potential, so much promise, but the inner workings of Activision and Bungie and the culture that was created from the game's community just make so dam hard to recommend and say it will get better. With Age of Triumph coming, Destiny will end on a positive note, but many (like me) was expecting far more from it. Considering it has been a three year journey, Destiny will always remain a disappointment.

cost is not worth it. base game = $60, first two dlc's $40, taken king $40, rise of iron $30 = $170 game (w/ microtransaction revenue too btw). some fun games that are ftp and survive solely on microtransactions. if you plan on purchasing destiny 2, then plan on $180 and $X for whatever other imaginary currency they invent to reduce the amount of mind numbing grinding for gear. you could buy +3 games for that. additionally, those loyal fans who paid the iron price are then further insulted by "bundle prices" designed to entice new players and keep up their "mau" numbers. people say it's like buying a new game's worth of content. they're right the cost compares, but unfortunately not the content. the base game had 6 classes like 20 story missions (albeit with little story or rewards) multiple strikes, and a challenging raid that took the very best players in the world 10hrs and over 1600 deaths to run for the first time. does this dlc even give 50% more content than house of wolves or the dark below as the cost would suggest? in general i'd say it's on par with the house of wolves in terms of content but not cost.

Great Game! Added content to an already amazing start to a 10 year franchise. Story-line is getting better and this has setup Destiny 2 perfectly. With the new Age of Triumph expansion, its an exciting time to be a Destiny player.

For $30 "Expansion" Rise or iron feels more of a sloppy cash grab update. Copy and pasted guns, content, game play, old locations, and even more reskined enemies. Literally the same stuff different day. Still a mediocre story (about 2 hours long). The "expansion" Pack which is more of a patch should have been free. barely any new content and the content we got is copy and pasted literally. Feels more of a cash grab sadly which is why im giving it a fat O/10

When I bought this game, I kinda enjoyed it. I bought it because Halo fan always said Bungie was a good developer. Destiny has never been able to tell a consistent story, and we're 2 years into it. Bungie is also the frustrating developer I've experienced. They literally take forever to address significant issues in both pvp and pve, and when they finally do response, they make radical and irrational changes that make you question if they play their own game. It's like they don't care about making the game fun, fixing the lag that plaques game matches, or balancing out the weapons. And all chances that happen as a result of pvp affect pve. The game also has exotics, which Bungie always nerf into the ground. The average exotic weapon is a hindrance, rather than a game changer. You will always find a non-exotic primary or secondary that perform better.

This DLC is hot garbage. I cleared thru it in about 1.5 hours. The concept is rehashed, the maps are ones you've already played, just with some snow and technological effects everywhere. In standard style practically nothing is explained and it's over before you realize it. I rather enjoyed The Taken King, but this DLC is every reason vanilla Destiny was boring.

Another Destiny Expansion that in the beginning is fun and new and really lets you really delve yourself back into the Destiny Universe but soon you realize the depth to the game is like a puddle. Still this game suffers from the main problem it always has. That is the reusing of assets that really take you out of the game and makes it have a very boring feeling to it as you go through the same areas over and over again.

Great game. Still playing it after 3 years. For me the best coop game ever. The only cons is the price of DLCs. I am waiting for destiny 2 because this is a good start for this francise..

Short story and no real new and fresh content was a bummer. Still Rise of Iron delivers a very satisfying raid, that is both fun and challenging, but not insanely difficult or drowned in complex boss fight mechanics. The quest to getting all of the ornaments for armor is what made the grind somewhat bearable.

The short story removes some points, and the enemies are only a little different from normal Fallen, the fun new artifacts, Supermacy, and a stupendous raid give it a positive score.

The only thing making this game a 3 is the crucible. And not just the crucible but trials of osiris. This is the life blood of this game. And really the only reason a lot of us come back up the game. Raids are fun the first couple of times but after that it's just utterly repetitive. Strikes.......... who enjoys doing the same handful of missions over and over and to add insult to injury they release "new" strikes that are just the old strikes ran in reverse............ and they have you pay money for that. Not to mention all the new weapons that get added every dlc... that are just re skins of the old weapons, and the enemies are just re skins of each other. The story to this game as well through the missions is by far gold.... I still have no idea what it's about or if we're the good guys or not or who any of the characters actually are or what there roles are... I just know I can buy stuff from them in the tower and xur shows up on the weekends. With the amount of money most of the players have put into this title for the extremely short lacluster dlc's hoping each one would be different but aren't surprised when they aren't........ We could of bought a few great games.

I would actually give this a 7.5 or an 8, I just feel obligated to try an offset the people who can't manage their expectations or understand how a 1-10 system should work. Rise of Iron is smaller than The Taken King as was always stated, and explains why it was cheaper. Story wise, it's passable, but lacks the charm of the taken king mostly because it's missing Cayde 6. But to be fair if they brought back Cayde 6, the cocky humor would have gotten stale. It is not a full sized game, or a complete relaunch, it's just a DLC designed to give a little bit of extra legs to the game while we wait for Destiny 2. And that's what it does. It has a new arena mode, new pvp mode, a new social space, a new raid, new weapons, a new artifact system, new (yes, short) story, and it expands the playable world by about 20% with the addition of the Plaguelands. You know what that all adds up to? A significantly larger than industry average amount of content for a DLC package. There are low res indie games that took 5 people to make for this price with less content. Seriously people. Manage your expectations and find the things to enjoy in life.

Rise of Iron was my favorite expansion of them all. I thought they did a good job telling the story of the Iron Lords, although to short. I'm glad I gave this a chance.

Just another disappointing addition to a very flawed game. Sadly I feel like Destiny still hasn't lived up to the initial hype, and certainly hasn't delivered on even the promises of the vanilla Destiny. At some point there needs to be a cohesive story line, some type of character arc, or character development, and NEW locations that don't just reuse the same spawn points and maps that we've been burnt out on for a year. I bought the game day one, so the buy in to keep from having content removed from the game is now VERY steep. Really poor tactics, and a disappointing direction for game development in general. I can still go back and play my nintendo/sega/xbox games from way back and never have to worry about content being stripped if I didn't continue to buy up. Sad that purchasing a game now, means you are essentially renting content.

Bungie has done extremely well advancing and evolving the game not only to make it more user friendly but also more interesting in both story and character progression. PvP has never been more balanced although it still needs work on some latency and match making issues from time to time. Over a solid content drop from Bungie and well worth the $30. I've been playing non stop for about 4 weeks since Rise of Iron dropped and there's still tons to do. As usual the soundtrack is also incredible. Can't wait for future content updates and Destiny 2 & beyond.

So it looks like I´m the only one who enjoyed the expansion. The only problem that I found is the price of it, however, it brings more content than what people believe. There are many hours to give to this game now, but people only seems to focus on the fact that it has "x" campaign quests. There is much more. Awesome historyline and cinematics as always. You´ll have a great time becoming an Iron Lord.

Destiny's Rise of Iron feels like an uninspired attempt to relight the spark in fans' hearts but sadly doesn't quite get there as we wished. Story The DLC first introduces you to the iron lords, the protectors of the universe before guardians were around, you get to meet Lord Saladin the last remainer of these warriors. After that you are told of a technology discovered by then called SIVA with can basically replicate anything in the universe, but as expected things gone wrong and they locked it in a bunker for the safety of mankind.Decades or even centuries later the fallen get their hands on this technology and you and your ghosts are assigned to a war in order to put and end to **** story is interesting and really well put together but feels unfinished and really rushed.I mean if the SIVA is this big of a threat how did I managed to defeat it in an hour and a half? This makes the story promissing but poorly executed making you feel frustraded by the end of it. Story Score:7.8/10 Gameplay The gameplay is the same, there's no change to the shooting mechanics which is expected since this is a DLC, the one thing that really disappoints about it is that the enemies are the same, if not they are reskins of old enemies(Vex,Fallen,Hive and Cabal).Even some bosses are the exact same ones you faced previously. The DLC presents a new environment,The Paguelands, a snowy region in Old Russia which can was still able to impress me duo to its enormity either in crashed ships or abandoned **** also cotains new gear to be acquired in story missions, strikes, raid or in its PvP mode the Crucible.Talking of which the DLC brings new maps and a new game mode similar to kill confirmed in call of duty called Supremacy. The story has 5 missions and lasts about an hour and a half, once you're done with it you still got a new raid, 2 new strikes and The Plaguelans to Patrol. Gameplay Score:6.5/10 Veredict Rise of iron feels like a goodbye to this game that already lasted enough,it's promissing but unlike its predecessor won't last long and unless you are addicted to getting new gear and upgrading your equipment like me, I would recommend waiting for a sale because this surely isn't worth 30$. Final Score:7,1/10

Me and my primary group of Destiny pals had really been looking forward to this expansion and we've all been satisfied with the new amount of things to do. Yes, the story was disappointingly short but the new area, the Plaguelands, is very large and is easily the best location to visit in the entire game. Much better than the Dreadnaught or any other planets. The new strike is okay, new story missions are okay, and the new raid is awesome! We had such a great time playing through that spoiler-free and overcoming the challenges. I do think $30 is a bit steep considering the amount of content, but again, the Plaguelands is awesome and a great place to run around with your friends. Even the curiously maligned Archon's Forge is a lot of fun, in my team's opinion.

Destiny ROI is nothing more than the swan song cash ramp to a failed IP. I was a Year One player and when they revamped and retooled the leveling and made you leave behind all those weapons that were useless in Year Two was a complete injustice. Not giving you the opportunity to port over one weapon per character that you created. It was even worse when they started to recycle Year One weapons and made you level them up again. It is sad they brought back the Gjallarhorn to try to bring back players or get Year Two Players to stay on the premise of the fabled Gjallarhorn. I could give 2 sh*#@ about the that Rocket Launcher. The Vex Mythocast, Nechrochasm, The 4th Horseman, Thorn. Those were guns worth bringing through out the expansions from Year One. I wasted my money and Bungie and Activision will never get another dime from me

While serviceable, Rise of Iron doesn't reach the heights of The Taken King and at times threatens to be another House of Wolves. The plot's quite short with a lot of detail stripped out so you never really know what SIVA wants/is and there's few new areas to explore (a slightly retooled Chromosome and a mountain) which can only be disappointing when compared to the Dreadnaught we got in the Taken King.

Destiny ROI uses the least effort to obtain the maximum profit and there is nothing wrong with that but with this DLC they fooled around with fan boys way too much. Who loves the game will still defend it no matter what and bought the dlc and those are the core base to be exploited. The DLC is mainly a reskin of foes. It only has 4 original missions, that top in 45 minutes of gameplay, 1 original strike and a new raid. The trial of osiris map its not original since they used an old PVE map. The plaguelands are nice but lack of depth and after a week they will become boring. Bungie and activision had the opportunity to develop maybe the best MMO scifi game ever but instead maximized the profit to a limit that its almost like taking advantage of zombie players that will give their coin no matter what. Shame on you activision/bungie for ruining such potentials that were expressed with the taken king expansion. With this type of aggressive marketing better wait for the reviews of destiny 2 from serious reviewers before buying the game. Better stop preordering videogames.

Destiny is a perfect example of a video game where the developers have made every bad decision possible. If you look back at the community's opinion on when Destiny came out there was one thing - THERE WASN'T ANY CONTENT. And that's the problem with Rise of Iron. It doesn't add enough content.

The 10 year plan ****.... I'm out. It's taken 2 years to get Destiny to a point where it still feels rather barebones and bland. The shooting feels great, but everything around it just **** and feels hollow. That amazing story you were hoping for from the Halo guys isn't there still, the big expansive varied environments still aren't there. Any interesting gameplay isn't there, all you still do is shoot waves of enemies, the Raids are the only thing that tries new stuff, only the online structure around the game is so antisocial, your only way of doing them is having friends who also play.... none of mine do. Basically I wanted that intro video at launch, instead we got this empty cartoony feeling looter shooter... where none of the loot is interesting and you spend the whole time grinding. Bungie think think it's acceptable to recycle content over and over and charge £30-60 for it.

my friends got this dlc(mostly my friends) both new and old players. that are solid players of this game. they played it the first week. and simple played a different game the next week. their where surprise on how much re used content was in the game and some really nasty bugs that are showing up right now. how bad the grin is now . for mostly worthless stuff. they really felt this was a money grab dlc . i choose not the get this dlc due to them.(over 10 hard core players). you can tell with the reviews on what this issue are.

Let's start with a friendly reminder that 0-1 review scores are really ridiculous. Protests are not reviews. That being said, Rise of Iron is some quality content for a DLC and if you have been keeping up with Destiny, you'll love. If you a lapsed player or a new player, don't bother. The level grind is too real. The good: the story missions are well done and have some real set pieces reminiscent of when Bungie used to make Halo. One of the NPCs even mentions how one particularly halo like mission feels familiar. The new Crucible maps look great. The new raid is fantastic and in my opinion on par with the vaunted Vault of Glass. The bad: the grind is too real. You need to grind, as in play the same activity over and over for hours, just to increase your level slightly. This DLC really shows the deficits of Bungie's leveling system. I don't know how a new player could ever level up enough to run the raid. The mediocre: most everything is recycled. The is year 3 but Bungie is re-using assets from Year 1. Some of the new content, such as the flaming armor and a collapsed cargo ship, are inspired. Most of the content looks like it could have been user generated. We get it, this is a stop gap until Destiny 2 drops next year. Regarding Crucible maps, Bungie is going full close quarter combat, even though the one hit kill shotgun meta is cancerous to the game. Final verdict: If you already play Destiny regularly, you already have this DLC. If not, I recommend saving your $30-60 on something you won't find a frustrating grind to nowhere.

The lack of real level up ****. Making a game to make sure Pvp it viable and put a limits of Gear-up kill the game for me. Making the game by level down the rest of it, It's not away to do good game. And the fact, you can't gear more then one off exotic and one def exotic, it lame.... Because right there you have the opportunity to do real customisation and blend option power.

A few additional missions and new light cap will have players excited for a couple of weeks, the new raid will have hardcore players busy for a few more perhaps(HM not yet released). Nice new social location and patrol-area but feels a bit lacking from a casuals viewpoint.

Garbage. Complete garbage. Bungie's first and only love was Halo, and after Microsoft kicked them to the curb their only goal was to make a quick buck, and that's this game. An absolute cash grab filled with Halo assets.

There's not much to say SADLY !!! There's nothing new or unique on offer here and for nearly $50 I FEEL RIPPED OFF !!! I could of and should have bought a game for that money!!! Pure greed BUNGIE and in comparison to DLC"S such as BLOOD AND WINE & FALLOUT 4 DLC"S this shouldn't even be a pass score & I'm not a DESTINY hater as I love the game, I just EXPECTED MORE !!!! WAY MORE !!! In future I will be spending my money on GAME DEVELOPERS THAT OFFER GENEROUS CONTENT, UNIQUE IDEAS AND VALUE FOR MONEY. :(((

So much hope and hype was behind ROI that it failed to captured the magic of TTK. It took a year to develop a reskin of The Fallen and less then a hour to rip off the fans of the series. That's how long it will take you to finish the campaign. The new artifacts are a nice addition, but it is an afterthought. The side quest are meaningless and non beneficial. BUNGIE has repeatedly buried what soul the story had and ROI has put the tombstone over the grave. If you're thinking the story thus far will be revealed more think again. Not only is it even more fragmented but it has become so vague that there is no mention of The Traveler at all. How about that for a plot twist. If there was an award for worst story line ever manifested in the history of gaming, Destiny is number 1 on that list. The new raid, Wrath of The Machine was not very thought out either. Luke Smith has really disappointed being the lead over ROI. Not only is it more disappointing then Crota's End but it has one of the worst design mechanics in Destiny. It's Rift with a chopped up Archon Priest in closed quarter combat arena. The boss itself poses zero challenge and the raid itself feels like a really long strike. Even more cumbersome, quality control has really fallen short this time around. Wall breaching through the raid should not have escaped quality control. Quality control department must not exist at BUNGIE HQ. The raid in itself reflects how poorly everything in ROI represents. The only spec of fun are private matches that should have been installed since vanilla. However, it's a little too late since the overall experience has really depreciated with more old weapons such as the Party Crasher returning. What a way to make the game refreshing when all BUNGIE can do is recycle weapons over and over. However, if you want the new and improved weapon minus the old perks you have to grind it again. Genius move BUNGIE! Perhaps ascending old gear was too convenient or too complex for BUNGIE to achieve. Maybe it was easier just to add it to the loot table with a new light level and call it a day. There's been so much unbalance and lag in PvP that it's now the norm. Nothing has changed and it's expected to be this way. BUNGIE won't budge from their stance on the weapon META so get used the ever revolving door. This game is the largest bait and switch BUNGIE has ever accomplish. The move to current gen was suppose to improve the overall experience of Destiny but be ready poor graphics overall with an added grain effect. Imagine playing on new gen console with legacy consoles graphics. Of course we are told that it was not intended however why would it exist in the source code? Reskin weapons, reskin enemies and reskin mission is not new content. It's called bait and switch. This should have been a $10 expansion because that's all it's really worth. There is nothing even enjoyable that at this point in the game that it's better left to sit in re-development for another 3 years. By then maybe BUNGIE can finally make a complete game and a coherent story line.

Second worst attempt by Bungie, right behind The Dark Below. Anyone who has actually played the game will tell you that its another reskin of the same old things. Cinematics are not entertaining, story is true Bungie narrative, which is "go figure it out yourself" and the price of $30 usd for a 1 hour campaign is the greatest bait and switch ever achieved. The time lock content is another poor excuse for running out of creative ideas. Even the raid felt like a desperate attempt to be complex. It was really short lived and easily conquered with a low light level. This is the 4th installment and still no story behind the Traveller and let alone you, as the chosen Guardian. Bungie has failed yet again and only time will tell how many more attempts they will get at making this "experiment" ,as they claim, successful. Seriously though, why are we even fighting anymore? Bottom line, vets will get it because its something to do for a month. The rest, skip it because it feels like playing The Dark Below all over again. Not worth the money to grind for another Hopscotch Pilgrim or Ill Will that was earned 2 installments ago. Unless you like grinding for the same weapons you already have then go ahead and bore yourself.

Rise of Iron is an extremely big step back for Destiny. The content is just heavily void of importance in any way/shape/form. Much of the new content is so brief that you'll blow through it within an hour, two at the most. Coming from The Taken King, that's a huge disappointment as that expansion did a good job of building out Destiny's story and characters. With Rise of Iron, the narrative and new content are vastly inferior to The Taken King. The story missions are completed within your first hour or so (depending on pace of play) and only a few post-story missions that are based on the same regions you've already played in exist at that point. The new enemy is very cool, however it also is void of importance since it exists hardly anywhere. Compare that to the Taken forces which span all of the playable Destiny regions and Strikes. If you wanted more of what you got last year in The Taken King, Rise of Iron will greatly disappoint. However, if you're someone that just wanted to jump into Destiny and play up to a new cap, you're going to be okay with whatever you get (within reason, I'm sure). I don't like paying $30 for comparable content I paid $20 for in The Dark Below. You get 1 new Raid, 2 new strikes (1 is recycled from original Destiny), 1 new social space, new weapons and armor and a lot of buried character progression stuff in Rise of Iron. You also get a tease **** story, instead of something more substantial from last year's raved-about The Taken King. I guess we're just going to have to wait for Destiny 2 before Destiny has a chance to reach its true potential as a streamlined MMORPG/FPS.
