It's a shame that so many gamers will never even hear about FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan and the Raincoat Killer, because the game has so much to offer.
Deadly Premonition is the unlikely meeting of Shenmue, Silent Hill and GTA, in a Twin Peaks setting... An unexpected mix that comes bundled with awful visuals and terribly old-school gameplay, but remains full of interesting things to discover. It mesmerizes the player thanks to a strange atmosphere, a compelling story, a cast of weird but terribly consistent characters, and a solid storytelling... In short, this is a unique gaming experience that will be be rewarding to players who can actually... endure it! See for yourself if you're ready to dismiss big (big) gameplay and visual shortcomings, to eventually discover a little shiny treasure... The cheap price (25 euros) may help you take that risk.
You may love or hate Deadly Premonition and its pure heart hidden beneath errors, strange structure and PlayStation 2 graphics. Don't get fooled by the outside, there are plenty of good things hidden beneath this rough surface.

Deadly Premonition is one of the strangest games I’ve ever played. The controls are clunky, the combat is terrible, and the technical issues are constant. Yet somehow the bizarre characters, surreal dialogue, and unpredictable story make it oddly compelling. It feels like a low-budget Twin Peaks fever dream. A deeply flawed game that’s impossible to forget.

There is absolutely nothing in this industry that can compare to how weird and wonderful the whole experience is. Judged as a piece of entertainment, as a game that consistently surprises and amazes and leaves jaws hanging, I have no choice but to say that Deadly Premonition goes above and beyond. This game is so bad, it's not just become good. It's pretty close to perfect.

While you will unquestionably be embarrassed by the low budget visuals and wish the combat mechanics were tighter, you'll also experience some incredible moments that can't be found in any other videogame. [Issue#101, p.114]

Deadly Premonition is by no means a great game, at least in the traditional sense, but I'll be damned if I didn't enjoy every minute of my nearly 42 hours playing it. The setting and story might have a little too much in common with the early 1990s television series Twin Peaks, but the homage is done with love and admiration.

It's the Amy Winehouse of videogames: rambling and incoherent, a bit of a mess and not much to look at, but with a unique and distinctive voice that's very hard to ignore.

Deadly Premonition has developed something of a cult following, but for me the good bits were always overwhelmed by the bad.

Awful in nearly every way. The Twin Peaks meets Resident Evil with a dash of Grand Theft Auto formula sounds pretty great, but it was well beyond the capabilities of this development team. Terrible controls. Terrible pacing. Terrible sound effects. Terrible visuals.

The story and characters are what makes the game so good. It perfectly captures the feel Twin Peaks and Alan Wake. I haven't been more invested in a story or characters since maybe KOTOR or Mass Effect. Despite the world and graphics being almost PS2 level of quality, it's still somehow very easy to get immersed. One of my all time favorites, have to give it a 10 because amount of heart and charm in this game overpowers any flaw you might find.

Not a great game, perhaps not even good, but it's got personality... and personality goes a long way. Mediocre graphics (probably the worst i've seen on x360). Uninspired and repetitive combat. Bizarre yet quite interesting story, very much like a David Lynch's Film.

The game drags on like chewing gum. The first two hours are only bearable if you do something interesting while playing.
