You shouldn't be reading this if you haven't played the game and instead go and play it now. For those of you who played the PS2 version, you'll be happy to know that it looks and sounds amazing and the hd makeover really makes it worth the price of admission. The move controller is a must to get the most out of this version, a match made in heaven. Ninetails won't see what's coming, much better than the wii version which wasn't bad but the wii remote acts up from time to time.

Brings out what the vita can do. Very cool game too, great music and maybe the best 2D graphics around. Mario has met his match. Have been playing it little by little to savour it for longer (not saying it's short, though), got the platinum today.

One of the best games on the Wii... One of the best games I've played, period. Guilty pleasure of mine as i know it's a little corny... It's that good. if you liked harvest moon but wished there was more... you're gonna love this one.

Excellent game and one of the best co-op experiences out there, Steam integration works well, the goofy and sometimes dark humor's very funny, loved gladOS, wheatley, CJ, Atlas and P-body. the only negative i can think of is that this doesn't have as many extras as the PC version, which is a waste for a blu-ray disc, not even the Cave Johnson commercials.

Not a great game, perhaps not even good, but it's got personality... and personality goes a long way. Mediocre graphics (probably the worst i've seen on x360). Uninspired and repetitive combat. Bizarre yet quite interesting story, very much like a David Lynch's Film.

L.A. Noire8

Definitely not a game for everyone as I've read many disqualifying it for not being "GTA or RDR in 1940s L.A." or for being like a point and click adventure (as if those were bad) when it totally isn't the case with this game, I think it's unfair to give the game a 1 or a 4 just because it isn't what they wanted it to be instead of judging it for what it is. I very much enjoyed it and even though the gunplay and driving needed some polish, it more than makes up for it with excellent atmosphere and great voice and "facial" acting. Interrogations are great and there are terrible liars (to the point of silly face expressions) and excellent liars that can only be beaten through logic and deduction, the only thing is sometimes I would've preferred to select dialog choices instead of the Truth, Doubt, Lie system. The story is very much a film noire affair, complex and intricate but not many twists or surprises. It's true the cases don't branch or fork the story differently depending on whether you succeed or fail but i think that would be something far too complicated considering these things have to be scripted, recorded (acted would be more accurate considering the face tech) and meshed into a coherent storyline, so... to the haters: Please... curb your expectations into the reality of what's involved in the creation of these experiences, then you can get a better appreciation for the great work that Rockstar and Team Bondi did with this title.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword8

First of all, this is a great game. It still has room for improvement and one can only notice that it was probably going to be bigger but was cut short... On the plus side, the stuff that made into the game was mostly well done and very polished in typical Nintendo fashion. I had mixed results with the motion controls: they take some time to get used to but once you do, they worked well to some extent and there are parts where it's truly satisfying to slash, stab, parry, spin and finalize most enemies... other times i was frustrated by how sensitive the controls are as i very often saw changing the position of the sword read as a slash or a slash turning into two slashes when returning the remote to the center, or having a stab turn to a spin attack due to the slightest hint of the nunchuck moving when doing the stab gesture, especially since the combat is very particular in how it let's you deal damage to enemies, the misread gestures make for some infuriating moments in the heat of tense fights that demand precision, sadly subtracting enjoyment in some of them. The story was fine yet some of the changes I disliked, especially for Zelda, who i think should have played a more active role in this quest as hinted in the beginning and sometimes her actions don't make sense. It'd have been great to see some part where she joins the fight, I mean, she's a student of the knight academy, yet she's the most fragile and delicate I've seen her except for Zelda II where she sleeps the entire game, or maybe have her do the spiritual parts since she's a "Spirit" maiden and those parts didn't involve combat but stealth... instead we get the tired old "sorry, but the princess is in another castle" routine, they paint Zelda and Link's missions as of the utmost importance yet you don't get to see or play any part of what Zelda does which is not much anyways (sorry Zelda, but it's true, i think it's funny my 5 y.o. calls the game "Link") The Dungeons, Puzzles, and Boss Fights are as great as ever, except when they make you fight the same drawn out boss battle three times... reeks of lengthening the play time through a silly trick and I absolutely hated that. The sky thing and flying on a bird is nowhere near as great as wind waker's sailing was, but it doesn't get in the way either, and the skydiving is pretty cool. Music's great, especially considering they also used some pieces from Wind Waker which has the best music in a Zelda game, IMO. Fits the mood perfectly, well done guys. It's a shame Nintendo still doesn't want to take the risk to add voice to their Zelda games. For graphics, all i can add is that the framerate is rock solid... the painting style looks very well and hides muddy textures very well, as long as you keep your expectations in reality... the look of the game won't disappoint. Thanks for Reading.

Metroid: Other M5

They managed to break the excellent gameplay of both the 2D games, and Prime's GOTY award-winning FPS action... in one sitting! let me elaborate... The third person parts are ok, i guess, but since the d-pad's 8-way digital input is ill fit for 3D environments. most of the shooting is auto-aimed, taking the fun out of much of the action, this is broken as well as most often than not, the auto aim, picks the target far away rather than the dangerously close one. The First Person Mode is infuriating at first, frustrating at best when you get used to it. not being able to move in this mode is really not the way to go here, i still don't understand why... you are perfectly capable of still using the d-pad here to move, yet it's blocked, even free-looking is blocked unless you press and hold B, which also activates locking and missiles which makes it a pain to look around... Fans of the Prime Trilogy will (and have) revolt since there's no good reason lo lock looking around and moving in this mode (even without the nunchuck) than just to piss you off... Gone are the Energy/Missile/SuperMissile/Powerbomb pickups when you defeat enemies, now you have to hold the wii remote upwards and hold A to recharge missiles and takes a little while (3 secs?). You also have to do this to recharge Energy, the kicker is you can only do it when you're about to die at 25 energy or less and when you hold the remote upwards and hold A you stand still and completely vulnerable until a blue dot reaches the end of the energy meter. then it recharges, this takes approximately 5 seconds which in metroid terms is an eternity, making it impossible to recharge when most enemies are around, besides, it only recharges the first (or last, if you will) 100 points of energy, not the tanks, these can only be recharged at the save stations. To me... this... outright ****. It's like Mario with no mushrooms anywhere... WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? it breaks the formula too much! Metroid Prime fans are gonna hate it (forsaking the nunchuck is one thing, but locking movement and even free looking in 1st person mode, just to piss you off, is too much, went too far) Old school metroid fans are gonna hate it as well, since it breaks the classic formula... (Linearity, shallow, chatty monotone Samus w/daddy issues included)

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All6

A bit disappointed after basking in the brilliance of the first in the series. The biggest issue i have with the game is how it changed the way you present evidence, hiding the particular moment when you can present evidence (the only one at that) behind convoluted and frustrating, illogical hurdles... not nearly as fun as the previous entry, don't get me started with the "only one chance" moments that if you get wrong (and you will) make you go back and repeat the last hour or so of the story with NO WAY TO SKIP, NOT EVEN THE DIALOGUES, especially egregious when the characters "talk" slowly or too much, for the sake of inflating play time... Again these were things that weren't there in the first game cause it was so well written and paced. The "Psyche" Locks: *sigh*...

The only thing i have against the game is the length... finished it in a little under 3 hours. it should have been much longer (for the asking price) or extend it via updates/DLC like Angry Birds or Cut the Rope.

TerRover9
Jun 16, 2011
In TerRover you drive this little tank the likes of the ones used in mars exploration through five thematic planets in 2D platforming puzzle-like fashion. It's in its gameplay and controls where this game shines. The first impression you get is that the rover is too floaty and flips, jumps and turns over constantly. The key to controlling it correctly is finesse and subtle squeezes of the accelerator and very gentle tilts of the left stick to shift the weight of the rover left and right, it's kinda like driving a 4wd in difficult terrain, you have to keep the vehicle balanced and know when to gently push the accelerator so that the wheels make good contact with the terrain and they don't slip from too much torque. Sometimes you'll find yourself going through confined spaces and narrow tunnels which require you to to flip and shift direction and shape of the vehicle to pass through, hence the puzzle feel... The objective is to reach the end of each stage and collect bolts and nuts for score, do it fast and without dying... Nuts are also used to buy different chassis upgrades that equip the tank with magnets, grappling hooks, guns, etc. Each chassis also has different weight and the wheels are also different which change the behavior of the vehicle considerably and make the choice of chassis an important part of solving some of the puzzles. The game is HARD, and you'll die many times a la Demon's Souls (fortunately you don't have to start at the beginning like that hellish... thing, got the platinum so i know what i'm talking about) which i feel gives it a much welcome Old School flavor and a great sense of reward when you accomplish something. graphics are your typical flash game affair, a bit on the minimalist side, it's very colorful and the animation is fluid. Full HD 1080. sound effects are nothing to write home about but they do the job and aren't annoying or anything, the music is spacy electronica (think paper mario thousand year door's space chapter) i liked it but YMMV, odd that's turned way too low in the standard settings. I can't believe the scores this game's got all over the community... it's like they never gave the game a chance and when they pushed the control stick and saw the rover flip the first times decided the game was broken... a sad day for hardcore, old school gaming. There's a demo in the PSN store, you should definitely try it... who knows... you may like it.
