It's unbelievable that this broken mess of a game appears on the PlayStation Network in this basically unplayable state. It's worse if you consider the steep asking price. Steer clear.

Just about every aspect of DayZ is in dire need of some degree of polish, however, if you persist (and you should) a deep and ultimately ingenious title lay underneath that places a premium on player-made stories. All the same be aware that in its current state, it will take a remarkable degree of patience to get that most from DayZ - such quantities that more than a few folk simply won't have.

The catastrophic technical condition obscures the gaming experience enormously: glitches, bugs, poor sound mixing, zombies without hitbox make DayZ a nightmarish gaming experience that is hardly fun.

Having played this game for 338 hours. I'll admit it was a very rough start, constant deaths, not even knowing where I was half the time. But once you start to get into the flow of it, the game is a masterpiece.
The glitches and bugs which seem to make DayZ disliked by many, in my eyes add a real level of character that a fully polished game simply wouldn't. I couldn't recommend the game more!

The gameplay is very fun, but the bugs and controller issues are so horrendous the game is unplayable. You will invest hours into a character and then suddenly can’t use your inventory or stick drift will be a constant issue (these issues are not persistent across over games - only DayZ). To make matters worse, the developers could care less about user experience. I’ve submitted a ticket and no response, no resolution. This could be a great game, but the studios lack of attention to detail makes it a horrible experience

Lots of mechanics and things to learn in this game. Can easily spend 1000+ hours playing with clans, conquest, solo, ect ect. the game is way better and less buggy if youre playing on new Gen consoles or PC.

DayZ has a rich history, a long lineage of war stories and strange survivor tales that have drawn thousands down its rabbit hole, but its reality is very different. There’s nothing here but a dull, vacuous wasteland, devoid of character and relying solely on players to make their own fun.

Dated, buggy, and irredeemably wearisome, DayZ on PS4 offers an experience as empty and uninteresting as Chernarus itself that was certainly not worth waiting nearly half a decade for.

DayZ is a complete and utter disaster on PS4. Not only is it profoundly outdated in 2019, it’s also technically inept. A horrendous frame rate brings the experience to a standstill on a worryingly consistent basis, while numerous bugs and glitches are a bewilderment. After taking five years to release, we can’t help but feel like this was an outright waste of everyone’s time.

Honestly what ruins the game is the toxic ass players. The game really get you excited in firefights as you suffer real repercussions for your actions. But it seems specific groups run and rule the game servers so good luck keeping a decent base anywhere.

Some harsh reviews - I see why. This game has no hand holding no info and no tips. You start raw and need to leaner by trial and error and YouTube along the way! It is a large open world survival online multiplayer, build and survive game with few, if any forgiving graces. The graphicscan be a bit clunky and dated, the gameplay torturous and repetitive and death swift to the uninitiated. That said - once you get hooked on DayZ and learn the essential ropes it becomes a massively fun game that is never the same on any given day, never mind any given spawn. The first 100 hours are the hardest - after that, its just hard. Not for the timid.

There is a probably a good game buried somewhere underneath all the bugs and faff of actually accessing a lobby in which to play, but good luck finding it…

This game is bland. It's a huge open world with nothing interesting to find. All the better loot is found inland but the 'better loot' are really just guns. The survival aspect feels minimal. Sure you can get sick but it's not that big of a deal. You can hunt, you can fish but your character hardly ever needs to eat and canned food and fruit is enough. This is an online game so expect to watch yourself take damage from a zombie from a meter away. PVP is dull. I'm running through a forest or down a street and I die. I don't even hear the gunshots. I'm just dead. The thing is, I didn't care because this game feels like a walking simulator because of how uninvolved the survival aspect for your character is. You have to drink all the time so if you cant find water, eat some fruit. I just find myself looking for whatever bag or clothing can carry the most stuff and just hoarding loot. This game doesn't offer much of an incentive to move from town to town. If you find a water tap and a bunch of fruit, you've won. Just a long stick to take out a few zombies, clean water, some fruit and you can rest easy. The world is interesting. The game on PS4 Pro has serious performance issues. The game will freeze for a few seconds. Zooming in freezes the game for a few seconds. If you turn around, the textures have to load back in. I'm being chased by zombies, I don't know which building I can go in because they haven't loaded in yet. I think a better survival game is The Long Dark simply because you have something to work towards which is crafting better gear by hunting animals with resources you need to find around the world. With this game, it lacks that need to be working towards something useful. It lacks that survival aspect for your character that The Long Dark has. This game just feels like a walking simulator. You'll come across a city in the distance full of buildings and shops but you'll end up wasting your time going from one empty room to the next. If you're lucky, you might find a beanie.
SummaryThe post-soviet country of Chernarus is struck by an unknown virus, turning the majority population into frenzied infected. Fighting over resources has bred a hostile mentality among survivors, driving what’s left of humanity to collapse. You are one of the few immune to the virus - how far will you go to survive?
