Children of Morta is pieced together in such a way that no element feels out of place, and the wonderful roguelite gameplay is backed with a deep and emotional story that kept me engrossed until the very end.

This simple story about the importance of family ties will definitely tug at your heartstrings — if not with words, then at least with beautiful pixel-perfect dungeons.

A beautifully written, composed, and visualized roguelike.

Children of Morta is moving, and there’s no denying that. It has soul, it has intent, and you can tell there is a team behind it with a very clear vision of the story they wanted to tell. The story of the Bergson family, its melancholic tone, and its audiovisual presentation ensure that the journey has emotional weight, something rarely seen within the **** is also a game with its own identity. It doesn't try to blatantly copy other successful roguelites, nor does it get lost in absurdly complex systems. It does its own thing, with a restrained, direct, and very well-presented proposal. Visually and musically, it is memorable, which already places it above many run-of-the-mill titles. However, once you scratch the surface, its limitations appear. As a roguelite, it falls short: the combat never quite takes off, the progression is solid but conservative, and the replayability doesn't reach the level of the genre's heavyweights. It’s not bad at all, but it doesn't justify the pedestal many put it on.Children of Morta isn't the definitive roguelite some claim it to be, nor does it pretend to be. It is an honest, emotive, and well-crafted experience, but also a safe and unadventurous one in terms of gameplay. In the end, it’s a game remembered more for what it conveys than for how it plays. And that might be enough for many… but not for everyone.

I enjoyed this game with my boyfriend, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a local co-op (give it some time at the beginning because it takes some time to grow into it). Gameplay could have been a bit more interesting, but overall the story and narration were great and it was a fun short game.

Lovely, cosy and heartwarming game.
The nailed it with the storytelling and art style and design. The gameplay is varied and challenging and it doesn't discourage newcomers to the genre. Overall 10/10.

Absolutely incredible game. Played this with my daughter. It has a gorgeous pixel art direction. Fantastic story and atmosphere. Also nails the balance of difficulty and fun. While combat is basic, it’s also very rewarding. Love this game. Can’t recommend it enough as a roguelike to enjoy with a family member.

From the gorgeous pixel-art to the fun side-events, the gameplay of Children of Morta was rarely repetitive or boring.

If you like roguelike games this is pretty great. there is enough variety in gameplay and story/characters were better than expected. Enemies can be stupid sometimes though.

As with most things, Children of Morta will probably get some substantive updates in the coming months, but it currently pales in comparison to other action roguelikes and won’t hold most gamers’ attention for too long.

When a mysterious darkness covers the land, the Bergson family (custodians of Mount Morta) must find a way to fight back against the evil corruption. Children of Morta is an enjoyable enough rouge-lite dungeon crawler, especially when played co-op, but the lack of variety in terms of dungeons and enemies means it can’t live up to the best the genre has to offer.

Nothing I haven't seen in any other game and neither element of CoM was above average. Mediocre title, if you like the visuals you might play it with a friend if you get it at a decent price.

Скучное дрочилово, которое даже кооп не спас для меня. Не говорю за другие аспекты, т.к мало их потрогал из-за духоты.

Just another overrated indie. Nothing to see here. Hopefully the voice acting will be enough to deter you before you experience the bare bones gameplay. Art is somewhat decent but nothing special.
SummaryChildren of Morta is a narrative-based roguelike hack’n slash game for PC, Mac and Linux which will involve you in the adventures of a family.
