If we evaluate only the remake, I’d say Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles is just an okay game. The graphics feel outdated, especially when compared to other PSP games that have aged like fine wine (such as The 3rd birthday and God of War: Ghost of Sparta). The controls also feel stiff, particularly when playing as Richter, which makes it feel very similar to the original Rondo of Blood but not in a good way. That said, there are some good things: you can unlock two additional games by finding them in the castle (or following a YouTube walkthrough), and both of those games are far better than the remake itself. Overall, I would recommend playing the original Rondo of Blood instead of the remake.

The very best Castlevania game of all time, locked to psp if you don't count emulation.

Rondo of Blood, en 3D, dificultad aumentada y controles ligeramente mejorados.

I love this game, especially the fact that you can find Symphony of the Night in it. It is one of the very best a true masterpiece.

absolutely jaw gratingly hideous. worth it for SoTN, but my god they dropped the ball on this one. Gameplay amongst the worst I've ever encountered, it's like they ramped up the difficulty by giving your hero advanced arthritis.

Gracias KONAMI. Kojima a la basura!!

RONDO OF BLOOD - 8/10 Right off the bat, this game is a huge improvement from Super Castlevania IV, which was just masochistically hard to play. The gameplay has been optimized and no longer feels clunky. Monsters are no longer as random as before, losing health isn't as punishing when it comes to the bosses, and healing items are more common. Bosses now perform moves that can actually be dodged. The game stays true to its predecessors by keeping key elements that previous games had, such as iconic monsters and items. Some story has been added to the game, giving you a bit of background as to what is going on. The graphics have been improved as well and there are cool little cutscenes to watch. The timer was removed from this game, removing the pressure of having to reach the end of the stage in time and allowing you to explore. You can also save mid-stage, which is great whenever you want to take a break. I like the addition of secret stages and characters that you can unlock (and actually have to, for the true ending). However, because they are secrets, there is no easy way to find them all without wasting hours upon hours exploring every nook and cranny. I suggest using a guide (after you've beaten the game) to unlock the secrets easily. Luckily, thanks to stage select, you won't need to repeat the game each time just to unlock each secret. Overall, the game is quite balanced. It isn't impossibly hard but it still offers a reasonable challenge. I am pleased that Konami recognized and corrected what they did wrong with Castlevania IV. Having a secret true ending gives you reason to keep playing and exploring the game. SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT - 9/10 (First off, this sequel needs to be unlocked by finding it inside of Rondo of Blood on the PSP, in a secret stage. I frankly don't understand why it got locked off like this. Consult a guide to find it easily.) Within the first five minutes of playing this sequel, my mind is already blown. The game feels so smooth to play, and the added RPG aspects like equipment and map make the game feel so much more enjoyable to play. I see why everyone promotes Symphony of the Night as being the best game of the series. It pioneers the Igavania genre and sets a precedent. Symphony of the Night's decision to include a world map changes the gameplay completely. Instead of just being a level-based platformer, you're now enticed to explore every room, find every item, beat every boss, and so on. Adding RPG aspects gives you a sense of customization by allowing you to be in control of how you want your character to be instead of forcing you to have to use the same whip all game. My main peeve with SotN, which is a silly oversight by Konami actually, is that using items is a pain. Instead of opening up your inventory and using the items like you would in a typical RPG, you have to equip them as a weapon and activate them in game. This is incredibly annoying. Plus, items are not sorted in the inventory, which makes it troublesome to search through. The map is a bit open-ended and doesn't tell you where to go once you reach mid-game. Key items are scattered in different areas of the castle that tends to be the opposite of where the last item was, which forces you to have to travel around a lot. The game doesn't tell you how to use several key items after you acquire them either, forcing you to have to consult the Internet. If you explore too much, there's a possibility that you might end up being overleveled, causing the rest of the map to be extremely easy. I ended up basically taking no damage from the last 4-5 bosses of the main map because of that. And yet, on the second map, the difficulty starts to ramp back up again, and the final boss is really difficult if you aren't overleveled.

Но и это не все, в виде подарка, щедрая Конами поместила в игру оригинальный Rondo of Blood и немного измененный - Symphony of the Night!

Fakat burda Remake'i için konuşuyoruz. Daha iyi grafiklerle ortaya koymak o Remake'i iyi yapmaz. Normal yapar sadece. Bu yüzden 10/6 veriyorum.

You get a great 3D remake of Rondo of Blood, the original PS1 version of Symphony of the Night (including Maria as playable character and has remade voice acting and dialogues) and the original Rondo of Blood, the PC Engine version (with having English subtitles). DXC is a classic, challenging Castlevania experience with good graphics, amazing soundtrack, cool boss fights, some twists compared to the original game, and lots of frustration. If you like challenging, old school Castlevania games then Dracula X Chronicles is for you! It's an amazing game, and highly recommended and the extras are just make it even more worthy to buy!

New players will be thrown back by how simple the controls are. You can't make him whip in any direction, only forward. This Castlevania is laggy and too punishing once you start into it. I wish they had made this more fluid and faster, but they were really strict to make it like an NES game. The music is excellent. There are also some fun animations / dialogue that don't ruin the game. They had an oppurtunity to make a new game but they copied the old ones. I'm not going to recommend this one unless you already like Castlevania, and then probably only the NES or Genesis ones.

Castlevanai The Dracula X Chronicles is an amazing remake. First off not only do you get an awesome remake but two equally amazing games. (those being Castlevania Rondo of blood and Castlevania symphony of the night) Presentaion: Dracula X chronicles is a 2.5D remake of Castlevania Rondo of blood. Now I will say this is a very detailed game it looks very gothic and castlevania-ish. But the visuals can be mussy at points and out right **** at times (by that I mean in one area in The Graveyard stage if you play this game youll know what I mean) overall a good looking game but it doesn't pop like the original. Gameplay: Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles is classic 2-d castlevania action at its finest. This is considered a CLASSIC Castlevania game but its also pretty nonlinear. Each level has two to three ways to beat it each having its own boss. There's about 14 stages to whip your way through. You can also play as another character that plays completely different to Richter our main hero. Maria Renard has doves as her main weapon shes can throw two at a time and they act as boomerangs. She has two slide abilities and a double jump and her subweapon animal buddices CAN **** **** UP. Though she's a glass cannon be careful with her. Plot: A group of cultists lead by the evil Priest Shaft resurrect count Dracula. Knowing that a Belmont is on his way to reck his **** up Dracula immedietley sets his plan into motion and attacks Richter's home town and kindaps his girlfriend Annete and her sister Maria Renard. Now not only does Ricther need to rescue his girlfriend but because of his.. DIVINE BLOODLINE he must defeat Dracula. **** MY ****ING GOD THE ****ING SOUNDTRACK THE ****ING SOUDTRACK THE ****ING SOUNDTRACK. IS AMAZING. One of if not the best Castlevania soundtrack of all ****ing time. Songs such as "Cross a Fear", "Slash", and "Beginning" (or Dreams of Triumph as this game calls it) make an amzing return. The soundtrack is fast paced fully orchestral and overall some of the best videogame music of all time BARNONE. FinalThoughts: I love this game theres 3 whole games here. Multiple pathways, Time attack, a co-op bossrush, ****ing excellent music and good graphics. I will say the PCENGINE version of ROB handles better but that's just me. If you own a Psp and don't have this game GET IT

A nice remake of Rondo of Blood, it looks so much prettier. It kept the same difficult-as-hell gameplay while also sticking to the storyline. The best part? You can unlock the original Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night. I was super stoked when I found out this little gem. Now that's what I mostly use this game for anymore, but all-in-all still great.
