Even if it’s not an all-time classic, it’s still a very good game, and if, like me, you’ve never played it, the Switch remaster is an excellent opportunity to dive in and discover what you missed.

I played the first BioShock and now I’m playing BioShock 2, and honestly, it’s been a great experience so far. The gameplay feels amazing and even more refined than the first game. Combat is smoother, more dynamic, and really **** story is strong and keeps you hooked, expanding on the world of Rapture in a meaningful way. In my opinion, it improves on what the first game did, both in pacing and in how it develops the atmosphere and characters.Overall, BioShock 2 feels a little better than the first one to me. If you enjoyed the original, this is an easy recommendation.

Bioshock 2 Remastered is a great example of how to port games to Switch. In 2010, I missed this beautiful game in my time and am very glad that I was able to get to know it thanks to the remastered version. The first part of Bioshock is one of the best games of its generation, the poet I did not expect much from the sequel, knowing in advance that Ken Levin had nothing to do with it. But Bioshock 2 is better in almost all aspects, except for a few tedious gameplay mechanics with little sisters. Yes, the plot is simpler here, there are no plot twists. But the characters are spelled out much better in the script than in the original. The gameplay is more thoughtful thanks to the use of both plasmids and firearms. Personally, I liked Bioshock 2 even more than the first part. Although it is no longer so visually impressive.

Back in the Rapture! Like in the first Bioshock, it was darker than I anticipated it would be, but overall I really liked that heavy and deep atmosphere (I played it late in the darkness). Framerate wasn't dropping and the game played smoothly, I even think that it was smoother than the previous BioShock. It was my second FPS on a controller and I saw the progress I made thanks to this series. It doesn't have a gyro aiming controls, but it's still a great game. Plot was deep and really short. However, the plot ain't the main focus of this game (that explain its length), it seemed like this game put more focus on the technical things and the gameplay smoothness. Little sisters were still a little weird and big daddies were easier to beat these time (maybe because I played as one xD), but the big sisters were the enemy type that I didn't get used to fighting at all. It was a challenge to fight big sisters every time! Also, the aspect of viewing the Rapture from the point of view of the Little Sister was unexpected. I would risk saying that Bioshock is a perfect game for people with limited gaming time, but not only (Player is able to save the game whenever he/she wants to). I truly recommend this franchise so far (definitive decision after BioShock Infinite). Great port with good graphics and nice framerate, audio was fine/good, but it could be better (the sound of the big sister fights was annoying at times, since it was quite monotone). For me great game! 9/10, -1 for the aspect of downloading some game parts even while I got a physical release.

Even though it's hard to live up to its predecessor, Bioshock 2 still delivers a fun and interesting story and ambiance. It builds up from what the past entry did by just sacrificing a bit of the horror element the first game had. Even though unpopular, is still a great game worth the time.
