Anno 1800 is a visually stunning, incredibly compelling management-strategy game. One thing of particular note is just how great and addictive the gameplay loop is, hooking you in as you watch your cities develop and expand, made all the better as you unlock and build a wide variety of buildings. There are slight issues though, with an unintuitive UI and trade system, which due to the way resources are spread around the game can be irritating. Simply put, Anno 1800 is an incredibly addictive and engaging game, with a few flaws, but nothing that stops it from being a great entry in the series.

This typical misstep aside, Anno 1800 is an otherwise excellent history-themed simulator that excels at drawing players into its satisfying gameplay loop and keeping them there.

Blue Byte beautifully manages the return to the roots of Anno. Many things are reminiscent of 1404, but it still adds significant value by adding inspiration from the last two episodes, and adapting it to the industrial revolution. The return of the sandbox mode is more than appreciated and ingeniously designed. Of course, the game is not perfect and there are a couple of small problems here and there, but Anno 1800 is a frank success on all aspects and can easily rise to the rank of best game of the series.

I never enjoyed playing Anno before but this game really made the difference.
It's smooth, great UI and really gets expansion done right.
Multiplayer is fun too.

Anno 1800 is a great opus in the series, and clearly follows up the very good Anno 1701 and Anno 1404 episodes. The only complaint we have is about the weird combat and the few remaining bugs.

Big, busy and pretty, you can be confident of a good management game that doesn’t take itself too seriously, so long as they can get past some certain disheartening design choices.

Mega confusing tutorial, nice game but rather play city skylines which has much more to do. I did really like using the boats, trading, and the ocean in general of this game where each "civilization" is its own island basically. However, for stuff to do on the island and to build up yoru city, it is pretty limited. And it doesnt help the tutorial such really hard and is mega confusing on wtf you are suppossed to do, making you wait around a lot cluelessly. If the tutorial was better I could've played longer but I got too tilted.

Mostly nonsensical in terms of settlements development, with things like building better housing as a way get skilled workers (rather than training them) and a revenue based on population rather than productivity (you literally can be better off with more people and high unemployment than a well balanced, productive settlement).

Beautiful and fun, until the game breaking bugs and extremely dumb ship behaviors catch up and ruin it.
