9/10 – A great addition to ANNO 117The Hippodrome is another great addition to ANNO 117: Pax Romana. I really like how the DLC fits naturally into the Roman setting and adds something that feels very appropriate for the **** Hippodrome itself looks fantastic and feels like a true Roman monument. Building it in stages and gradually increasing its Splendor makes it feel like a real achievement rather than just another building you place on your **** chariot races are probably my favorite part of the DLC. Choosing your racer and managing their abilities adds a nice little layer of strategy, while being able to follow the actual race makes the Hippodrome feel much more alive. I also like that the races can provide additional bonuses as you increase the Hippodrome’s **** new specialists and the connection between the Hippodrome, prestige and your cities are also a nice addition. It gives you another reason to keep improving your province, especially in sandbox mode.I also really appreciate the free improvements that came alongside the DLC, especially the photo mode, notes and other quality-of-life changes. They make the overall game even more **** Hippodrome may not completely transform the game, but I don't think it needs to. It adds a very fitting Roman feature, gives you another impressive monument to build and makes your cities feel even more alive. After spending so much time with ANNO 117, this is exactly the kind of DLC I enjoy **** rating: 9/10.
