Intense, varied, exciting... Ace Combat: Joint Assault gives us the most realistic story in the series, a cooperative campaign against terrorism and a good number of multiplayer modes. If you are a series fan, then... Try it out!

This game is outstanding! even though its on the PSP,it has everyting an Ace Combat game should have.great handling & playability, the missions are good,& theres plenty of them(though you could always do with more of them in Ace Combat games),& 2 very welcome 'firsts' fot the Ace Combat series.Firstly, the game is set in the real world, not some made up alternate reality,& an absolute blast to play Campaign Co-Op,for up to four players! I cant strees enough how much fun it is,playing the campaign in Co-Op,& was the one thing that let Fires of Liberation down on the 360.. I thank Project Aces for making this a Co-Op game,& hope you make Future Ace Combat games with Co-Op campaign.I HIGHLY recommend this game,& is a must buy if your into flight combat games.Dont let the fact its on the PSP put you off.

Ace Combat: Joint Assault is great if you are playing with friends either competitively or cooperatively, but if you choose to go solo you will likely grow tired of the trite mission structure far too quickly.

Game Chronicles
Ace Combat: Joint Assault is a fun ride and it was great to finally play a classic Ace Combat game, even if it wasn't totally next-gen.

Joint Assault is decent fun if you can get past its yawn-worthy elements.

For fans of the genre, Joint Assault isn't going very far in any aspect. But its combat remains nice, even though its playability is a little slow at first, since it takes some time for it to become more dynamic. Its production values are average, similar to the previous 2006 PSP episode (Skies of Deception), but its missions clearly lack ambition or surprises, much like its politico-economic fictional backdrop. To sum it up, the flight plan lacks any noticeable turbulence to spice it up, but it's still nice, especially when playing coop or competitive with and against friends.

It may take some finagling to find it, but there is a solid flight game beneath the problems. It's just a bummer that you have to dig into several menus, find some buddies, and replay the campaign repeatedly to get to it.

This is the 2nd Ace Combat title on the PSP. Story: The story isn't too overly complicated too follow, it paints you as the hero of the story, pushing your country out of the oppression of another, you also build a nemesis relationship with one of the enemy pilots as an added bonus. Gameplay: If you played an Ace Combat game before you know EXACTLY what to expect here, this is a dogfighting action packed, arcade like flight-sim. The more you fly a plane the more colour schemes and weapons you unlock for said plane, making you try out what every plane has to offer. It has a mission type selection screen, with branching paths, this gives the ability to replay the game and play previously unplayed missions with the already unlocked planes at your disposal. The controls are tight and there are 2 types of controls, expert gives you full control of your plane, beginner levels you out when hanging upside down which makes it easier for people not used to flying game, personally I think expert is better, since it gives you more freedom to get behind enemies.. Graphics: The graphics are very much like the previous Ace Combat on PSP, they look pretty good, the plane models are well done just as the menu interface is pretty sleek. Music: The music was hit and miss for me, there were some good songs in there, but it was not very memorable. All in all, Ace Combat: Joint Assault is a step down from the superior Skies of Deception, the mission select is not ordered well and the CPU usually is not doing much to help you, while I did find the rivalry with the other squadron a plus point, the rest of the story is a let down. If you're a fan of Ace Combat or action games alike you might find something good here... My verdict: good game with some shortcomings.

To me its bad, the flight physics is awful and a sidestep back compared to predecessor ACX, story average to bad, soundtrack average, the game is grindy as hell and includes the most annoying mission like "Grand Flight" i have seen in an arcade flight game. I dunno, but i didnt like Joint Assault at all and its one of the weakest games of the series, i quit it after 3 hours and cannot understand who would really consider playing this game and coming back to it after the first supreme ACX on PSP. Sorry, as much i would like to give a higher rating, but i cannot give out more than a 6/10, this game was a huge disappointment for me.
