Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy+

Though it can't quite hide the fact that it's a 2011 game here in 2015, the new amiibo support and the strength of the existing game design have combined to make Assault Horizon Legacy+ a winner for a second time. [Issue #14: Old vs. New – March/April 2015, p.70]
Thrilling mechanics, plentiful missions and robust unlocks make it the Top Gun for genre fans who own the system.
Ace Combat Horizon Legacy Plus is exactly what you want from the series: Ace Combat on the go. This new version isn't essential if you have the original 2011 release, but if you've never bought the game, the new Amiibo support and other features make the Plus edition the one to own.

Nothing interesting, too primitive for those years. I would be very angry if I paid money for it

I thought this was an awesome game. I loved the variety of aircraft (even the propeller aircraft).

This is a lazy port of a four year old game. The good news is: Assault Horizon Legacy was a good game back in 2011 and it's still enjoyable today.

This game is an update to Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy, that was launched on par with the New 3DS (a new and more powerful model of 3DS) in 2015. As such, this "enhanced version" features a couple of discrete additions, like Amiibo support (to unlock planes) and using the right stick to control the camera. The 3D effect is well done, but I tested it only with the N3DS. In the game's main mode, Missions, you are in the role of 'Phoenix', a very skilled pilot who has to fight the rebels in order to reestablish government's control of the country. It means you'll have to fight against rebel planes, ships and terrestrial defenses in order to complete your missions. This will give you around 5 to 10 hours, depending on the difficulty and how precise you are. The controls are responsive depending on the plane you choose and that can vary a lot. The extra modes (challenges), will add a couple of hours of gameplay, also unlocking some new stuff. There is also a theater mode where you can watch saved videos if you saved that gameplay when asked for. The game is fun, but it lacks things like multiplayer, a better use of the second stick and -maybe- a free flight mode to show off your cool new plane. I hope that, in the future, the next game from this franchise will add these features and deliver a more complete experience. The replayability is low, because after completing the game in all modes and levels, you will know every fight style of your enemies (the script), and the dialogs will start to become annoying. (I'm sorry if my English is too bad).

Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy+ is a minor and slightly cheeky update - despite Nintendo planes and amiibo support it's certainly not worth a double dip for those with the original.

Basically we have here the exact same game that we played four years ago, but with added Amiibo functionalities. It's still a fun game, but it's not worth the price of a new release.

We Got This Covered
With only a few minor additions, it's hard to recommend Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy+ to anyone but the most diehard of fans.

It's a small overhaul of the original game, but owners of the "vanilla" version won't find many reasons to spill out further money on this one.

Back to 2011, Assault Horizon Legacy already appeared as a deception for all the fans of the franchise. This New 3DS version doesn't change a thing. It still lacks of intensity and skill. And there are not enough fresh features to justify its purchase.

SummaryA collaboration between Ace Combat and Nintendo brings to fans aerial combat as they are able to cut through the skies while flaunting fresh paint to represent their favorite Nintendo characters like Samus, Captain Falcon, Bowser, and Pac-Man.
