Half of this movie is decent (the Luke-ish half),the other half is just a bunch of stuff that doesn't go anywhere. What a waste of potential after the last movie. It threw out so many story ideas that could be built upon in this film - and while I appreciate trying to subvert expectations, you need to replace the stuff you throw out with SOMETHING, otherwise you're left something meaningless. Force Awakens felt like a real movie, this feels like it was made in a hurry without much thought.

This is one of the most visually striking and fun sci fi films in many years. Amazing visual storytelling. You don't even need the terrible dialogue... which unfortunately, is some of the worst I have ever seen. The dialogue isn't merely bad or cliche, it is bizarre and grammatically off. If you ever wondered what a it would be like if someone ran a script (French, I am guessing) through Google translate and then filmed it without changing anything, that's what you get here! BUT, but, everything else is so strong and the world is so imaginative that it's still worth your time.

This is damned fine science fiction. It is brilliant, in fact, everything about this film. THIS is how you do it, everybody else. It's heart-breakingly good. But goddamn do I never want to watch it again. Can't remember the last time a movie got to me so much.
