One of the most egregious things about this film is that it has a white American guy jumping over to Japan, doing a crash course in Samurai, and becoming miles better than all the local guys who have trained their whole lives.. They don't explain whether this is purely because its Tom Cruise or if most non Japanese can beat them at their own game. Leaving this question unanswered was perhaps a clever way to leave room for a sequel. Sadly It never emerged.

This film is a pleasure right from the get go. It is a funny powerful film with great performances all round. Mark Rylance carries on from Wolff Hall with aplomb. During my screening most of the audience stayed till the end of the credits. Brilliant movie making.

Too many laugh out loud moments. I had forgotten how funny Richard Ayoade had been in Garth Marehghi's Dark Place, but this was just as good. It is nice to see Jonah Hill being understated along with the rest of the cast. Ben Stiller isn;t too obvious and plays it well. Really weird to see all the haters panning this film. Much better than say Zoolander, as there so many subtle jokes that it was worth watching twice to see what had been missed. Clearly not a chick flick but well worth watching.

The special effects really are very good. Sandra Bullock acts well. The storyline is perhaps a little weak, but you are prepared to suspend your disbelief due to the view you get of earth from space. SOme of the coincidences are a little bit Hollywood but overall worth seeing in 3D.

This film is very good. It is as good as when you see Pirates of the Caribbean for the first time. The main characters are easy to relate to. The action scenes are quite **** the story line keeps you going.. Perfect cinema fodder
