World of Warcraft: The War Within1
Jan 1, 2025
It's Dragonflight 2. Even though I heavily favored Dragonflight as an expansion, after 2 years of the same stuff it gets old. The new race that launched with the expansion is a third flavor of dwarves (why?). The first update coming around after 4 months is a re-used island expedition with the Azerite still laying around. PvP is entirely dead (I'm sitting in queue for 15+ minutes for a random bg and then gave up, arena queues take 20 minutes or longer for 1 game that lasts maybe 1 minute). I can't say much about the story or lore since I don't care for underground stuff or stone dwarves. Tanks were ultra nerfed, putting all the responsibilities on the healers. They last did this in Shadowlands season 1 where a tank and healer exodus happened. Over all I see more and more bad decisions that remind me of Shadowlands in War Within. Not a good sign. There have been no new customizations added for any races. Troll beards? Goblin beards? What really killed my will to play was that they added pointy ears for humans (that already have the largest amount of customizations available) and kul tirans (nobody plays those). Blizzard continues to treat their flagship title that isn't a failure (Such as HotS, Diablo, Overwatch and every other title they put out) like trash. Bonus points for every time you encounter a bug that is in the game since the launch. It took them 4+ months to fix the Shadowlands intro quest bug. There are still (endless title spaming when logging in comes to mind) countless bugs in the game that aren't being fixed. Instead development time is being spent on making a $90 store mount. Customer service is non existant as well as it's useless or replaced by AI. Where does all their money go? Much like the ingame world that remains in the state of the cataclysm, WoW has grown incredibly stagnant. Update on 21.07.2025 I am changing my review from a 4 to a 2. The amount of bugs in this game are getting worse with every patch. There are bugs in this game since Dragonflight that still remain or were made worse. War Within is drifting more and more into design decisions that I have seen last in Shadowlands. Blizzard as a whole is making more and more out of touch with reality decisions once again, just like how it started in BfA and then Shadowlands. Legion Remix without artifact appearances but the AotC mount is free for everyone to get? The insonsistencies of their designs are not only showing in WoW but on Blizzard as a whole. It bodes very very bad for any future expansions. They are slowly but surely going back to Shadowlands standards and it would not surprised me if the next expansion will kill this game for good. Not because of the design decisions, but because they fired their entire Q&A team. Bugs, bugs, bugs everywhere. The customer service is AI only. Don't waste your time with this game or company. If you invest time, Blizzard is going to spit in your face eventually with such out of touch design decisions that you wonder how any human can come up with such a ridicilous decision. Then you remember this is Blizzard. Update on the 17.08.2025 In the last weeks Blizzard has completely dropped the ball with their decision makings. The whole no mage tower in Legion Remix despite everyone asking for it but them giving radio silence is giving me Shadowlands "We know better than you" vibes.Them stating "we listen to your feedback" at the end of the Legion Remix video is the insulting cherry on top. Apart from that they thought it's a really nice idea to kill delves because the participation of m+ is very low. They timegated delve progress and increased the amount of xp required on the delve journey, killing it off for any casual players who don't grind delves for hours upon hours every day. War Within started okayish and now it took a complete nose-dive into BfA 2 territory. If War Within is BfA 2 then Midnight is Shadowlands 2. Very concerning.

According to Blizzard 9000 people worked on this game. Blizzard has never heard of the "dead-sea" effect and proudly announces their absolutely bloated process. The dead-sea effect is truly showing. I give it a 1 for nice looking graphics.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight8

Positives: - The forced cringe conflict between the Horde versus Alliance has finally ended - A lot of dialogue is voiced now to bring charm and personality to the various characters - The dragon isles are absolutely filled with cool, cute and neat little side quests and stories - Alt friendly (so far) - Dragon riding is incredible convinient - Lots of cosmetics - Not a billion currencies - Brought the fun back into WoW (so far) - It's actually Warcraft and not whatever fanfiction was Shadowlands - The talent trees are amazing for most classes - The Dragon Isles feel and look great - Professions were updated, with cute showable gear - The lore is pretty decent too despite a few hiccups (so far) - Causes boomers to seethe when they see 1 gay couple (pretending anyone reads questtexts) - Not made by Jeff Hamilton who left Blizzard and suddenly it's 100% more fun - The dragon isles are a really charming and fun place to be in - The expansion seems to be focused on fun, not on "wasting as much time as possible" Negatives: - Dragon riding is an annoying motion sickness enducing minigame - The new race is locked into 1 class despite the community asking for less restrictions and Blizzard even gave in by making rogue, priest and mages available for all races - The new race is also in both forms incredibly ugly and in the dragon form you can't transmog armor - Night elf shamans among the primalists.... What? We can't even play those and night elves are not known to be very shamanistic so I am very confused. I could let vulpera being among them slide, but night elves? Why? - The game is still suffering from restrictions over all. All across the dragon isles you will meet NPCs that can mix their armor types or do stuff that we players can't. Dracthyr NPCs being able to wear a hat? Check. Vulpera mage apprentices being able to wear the witch hat from a seasonal event that we players can only wear then? Check. A blood elf with a two hander sword wearing a mix of class specific PvP hunter and paladin sets that is a mage? Check. NPcs can be classes that we players can't be? Check. We can't we mixmatch sets? Is this game made for the NPCs and we players are just a sideshow or what? - Steve Danuser is still in charge for the lore - Most of the sets are the most ugliest sets I have ever seen - If you're not on the Dragon Isles the game shows how outdated it has become, the old world still has textures from 2006 - Customisations are laughable and not evenly distributed across the races - The dragon isles are neat, but over all the game has still outdated zones everywhere outside of that and it's also suffering from the "no fun allowed" approach - Very expensive With everything being said... I would give it a solid 8 out of 10 so far. If you ignore that the game is outside of the dragon isles a huge ugly patch rug, then you can absolutely enjoy DF. If you plan to play any content outside of DF then you will notice the flaws incredibly quickly. I recommend playing it. Didn't had this much fun in this game since Legion.

The community of this game is very toxic. It has a lot of kids on it so not really surprising. The balance is quite questionable. Riot thought they could create a new CS:GO but without the actual balance behind it. 1 shot sniper rifles won't ever be fun in any game. Even in CS:GO they are the biggest bs and not easily countered. The starting music on some maps is pretty cool but the gameplay itself feels just clunky. Like there is a certain actual level of aim required but also not really since the hitboxes feel very off. Frames and the smothness of the gameplay are fine, same for the artstyle itself. Models are easily distinguished from one another. I can't say the same about the abilities. Some are over the top strong while others feel completely luckluster. Take Jet vs. Killjoy vs. Reyna. Reyna has the actual ability to solo carry games, same for Jet. Killjoy though? Forget it. Now... With all of that said... The anti-cheat kills and freezes my pc. It also causes my pc to take forever to start. These problems are in the game since launch and Riot never bothered to fix any of it.

Doomfist feels fun to me (that's why I give it a 1, if they nerf Doomfist for the Blizzard reason of him being fun I turn it into a 0). Blizzard forgot an "options" button in the main menu. Instead you have to press ESC or go into the "menu" in the corner of your screen to access "options". You know what has a dedicated button in the main menu? The shop. That is about all you need to know about this game and why you should not play it.

Bobby Kotick did it again. Who needs good content in video games when you can copy&paste Diablo 3 but spend 99.99% of your development time on coming up with systems how to drain peoples wallet? Please Microsoft kill this company fully once you aquire it. I beg you. Release Blizzard from their suffering.

OverWatch has a great variety of heroes to play. 32 characters over all that are split into 3 groups. Tank, support and damage. This system was forced some time ago into a 2/2/2 system. 2 tanks, 2 healers and 2 damage. Before it was that you could pick any. This system was even pushed onto casual modes. This leads to high queue times as a damage while tanks and supports got a near instant queue. Blizzard has repeated the same mistake they have done in World of Warcraft. The reason for this system was because they could not balance around a specific strategy called "goats". Out of these 32 characters, only a couple of them are viable if you want to win. Especially in ranked. Blizzard managed to bring imbalance into such as small number of available heroes to play. The damage role has 17 heroes to play. Out of these 17 only a handful are viable to play. 7 tanks, 3 are viable at best, 2 at worst. 6 support characters, 3 are viable if you play a high rank, 2 are viable if you don't. The hero balance is awful. If you don't have 2 viable heroes but the other team got them? That's a lost game. Only 32 characters and they managed to have an insane imbalance. Tanks are not very much played because the ones that are viable are simply not fun if you have to play them every single game to win. There hasn't been any new content for the last 2 or so years as Blizzard works on OverWatch 2. There hasn't been any news about it or anything really. But Blizzard abandoned OverWatch as a game. Seemingly OverWatch 2 is OverWatch but with an added PvE mode. Nobody knows what the developers are doing at this point. The maps are ok. I am just wondering how nobody ever at the development team stopped for a moment on Horizon Lunar Colony and Paris and went "Maybe this is design wise not a good choice". These two maps are the worst and many people skip them. They were removed from competitive games because they are that terrible. The latest added map was a deathmatch map for reasons beyond mortal understanding. Nobody plays deathmatch. The report system is automated and stack based. Not reviewed by any customer service, so pretty worthless. The message that pops up when you report someone that you report them to "the Blizzard customer service" is a straight up lie. Loot boxes are terrible and should be banned. Not exception from this game for it. The recent experimental build was great because it came from actual players of the game. This company has people employed for the balance and lore. We have not gotten any significant lore (people ask for an extension of Sigmas lore since ages) since forever and lore additions itself are very rare. The writers are paid to do nothing, same for the balance guys. What a dream job these lazy developers must have. There was some weird update where they removed all regions, which led to insanely high pings because you were put into servers far away. Since this update my average ping is around 10 higher. Occasionally I am still getting thrown onto NA servers while being in Europe. The matchmaking system has been awful since then too. The game itself is great if you jump into it for a few rounds as a casual but if you expect anything more then you will be in for a disappointment. This game is good to play a couple of rounds and then stop, otherwise you will notice the heavy flaws very fast. Blizzard completely lost the hype of the game. If you want a better experience play Paladins. I give it a 5 because it's fun if you don't think about it too much, casuals can still enjoy it and it atleast gets new skins for events. But a lot of points are removed because Blizzard gave up on this game. It seems like they gave up on ALL their games. A shame really because the game could be much more.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands2

Updated review Lore: cringe, makes no sense and boring. With genocidal Sylvanas as an "enemy" since 2 expansions. Now she gets redeemed because Danuser has an obsession with her. Retcons on every corner, ruining old stories. New lore does not work with the old lore or straight up makes no sense. Do not waste money on any book. Gameplay to lore (Portals to Draenor despite being closed off) make no sense. The jailer is probably the most boring villain in media ever. Systems: more and more messy. With each expansion every system from the last expansion are disregarded causing massive issues due to borrowed power to then repeat the same mistake next expansion. Class/Faction/Transmog restrictions: make no sense. Race bound to factions is terrible and does not work. Transmog restriction make no sense. Faction imbalance is ignored by the developers. Customisations: massive imbalance. Some races have a lot, others have the bare minimum. Balance: choose the right class or else you get 1 shot in PvP. Choose the right class for PvE or else you will fall behind, even by making your our groups. This "balance" would make even Riot blush. Leveling: 1-50 is great and very fun, the true "WORLD of Warcraft"-experience. Hitting 50 puts you onto rails and you have no choices anymore what so ever where to level. Threads of fate only counts for SL places. Developer behavior: law suit and the developers/authors can't take any form of critique, going as far as to tell you to "play another game if you don't like it" (Madeleine Roux) and "You can't critique our work if you haven't published a game/book yourself!" (Christie Golden). Roux then is rewarded with an ingame NPC. PTR feedback is completely ignored. The developers remove content (Sylvanas B word quest) from the game because 1 developer felt like it. Can they also make their main class OP because "they feel like it"? Content updates: about 2 in 10 months and the second one brought a re-hatched Mage Tower for 2 weeks that had its scaling messed up completely. The first patch brought us a tiny island. No release date for 9,2 yet. Playerbase: elitists run rampant. Developers create content for only 5% of the playerbase. Toxicity happens because toxicity does not get punished. Customer Support: ingame report feature is stack based (means an entire guild can ban other people easily). Reports are not reviewed by GMs. Players are abusing the report system and the ticket system is 90% bots. The forum moderators are complete trash. The RPG experience: is completely missing. This game has zero right to call itself a RPG. No choices (and if there are any they are meaningless) and talent choices are usually more of a "take X talent the other two are useless". Cutscenes and art: the cutscenes are GMOD levels, so not very "good". The art has been fine except in recent times. SL has just a grey and green filter everywhere, once you notice it you can not unsee it. The announced tier sets look awful. Player population: has tanked massively. I play on Argent Dawn EU. Roleplay hubs (Redridge, Duskwood, Stranglethorn) that were active before SL are all dead. Orgrimmar is dead. Stormwind has taken a massive hit too. Promised content/Fear of missing out: heritage armors and worgen being able to not auto-shift into worgen form are just 2 examples of the past that were said "to be done" and yet never have been. Half the races are still missing their heritage armors. Promised features are not delivered or underdelivered. Blizzard constantly plays on the fear of missing out. The community council situation: completely useless. Reddit, Metacritic, a million other review sites, YouTube, the WoW forums and many other social media platforms give you enough insight. Why you need a "community council" is beyond me. Especially since Blizzard ignores PTR feedback. Personal opinion: it seems the only thing Blizzard does not half-ass is mistreating their employees. Everything else though is halfly done. The developers have seemingly no clue what the game should be about and mix the Warcraft universe with real life. I give Shadowlands a 2 because the 1-50 leveling is still very much worth it and lovely. Just the newest content is awful and not worth playing. If you are a player: 1 to 50 is worth playing. Anything after 50 (Shadowlands) is not. If you are a Blizzard developer/writer: please quit your job to make space for new people.
