This game is something truly special. Classic Need for Speed flaunting its best characteristics: fancy cars, good progression system, exotic tracks, brilliant soundtrack and pissy cops. Good stuff and great addition to a PS1 library!

I played this game on the PS2 but assuming they are the same, this game is top arcade action and a great tennis game overall. The difficulty is well graded and the soundtrack, visuals, ball hits and opponents are all memorable. Despite common belief, this is just as great **** for tennis players as the Top Spin series!

In a Sega Virtua Tennis vacuum, this entry in the series leans hard on the smooth and sharp graphics at 1080p 60fps like most Japanese games of the era but the pace of the action is slower and the career mode is more stagnated than previous entries which makes for a more boring game. If we compare this game to all the other tennis games that were released after VT4 came out, we simple just cannot ignore the fact that VT4 is literally the last game to have a proper and believable tennis motion and this is coming from a tennis player. This although is my personal opinion as I prefer Virtua Tennis to Top Spin precisely for that reason.

This game is the epitome of classic Need for Speed games! Fancy cars: check. Exotic tracks: check. Extreme speed: check. Pissy cops: check. All that you need in a simple and straight forward package with a brilliant soundtrack. Pity the game came out the box at a 480i resolution. 720p or even 480p would've done it nicely.
