The game is frustrating to play, and while this shouldn't be an issue, you don't feel that sense of reward after completing it. I honestly ended up almost throwing my controller out the window with this game. I absolutely refuse to play these levels again for the collectibles. Unlike Cuphead, I am bread or Getting over it, in which you get better the more you play, in this game you mostly don't have control over what happens in game, which is a really sour sensation in games for me, specially since the randomness comes from physics rather than actual RNG like Mario Party. The game has nice graphics, but they look unfinished sometimes. The level design is honestly sickening and the story is next to non-existent. The idea for the game is not bad, since the fish you play as really can make a difference in the gameplay, but the problem with the gameplay and controls makes you forget about what makes the game good and replaces it with frustration. I guess if you want to challenge yourself for no reason this game is for you, but I play games to have fun, and I certainly did not have any while playing this game. The game is not awful, but it's just not for me.

An even bigger and improved Garden Warfare; it's basically Overwatch but with actual fun gameplay. The characters give this game so much replayability and variety. The game modes could be fun but nowadays you'll just find games of turf takeover or mixed game mode. Probably the worst thing about this game is that it doesn't offer you a lot more outside of multiplayer... Some aspects of the PvE are fun but it just becomes boring after a decent amount of time. Also, this game is more targetted towards casual players rather than dedicated gamers, meaning that this game isn't very competitive and it may become boring after an hour or two. If you are a casual player, a PVZ fan, a shooters fan or all of the above then this game is for you. If you expect a lengthy game with a deep story and competitive games then this game probably isn't for you.

Initially the game was good, then, in a future update when they got rid of the world map the game was solid, afterwards, the game got all worlds and it was good, but since then, it felt like the devs didn't know what to do with it. Nowadays, from 2020-ish onwards the game just serves as Popcap's way of getting an extra buck every time they release a new plant. The gameplay of the adventure mode is great, every single world has their own plants, zombies and stage which bring a new wave of gameplay variety. On top of that, the game has top notch music and sound effects, creative designs, good boss fights, smooth animations (for the most part) and some nice minigames in some worlds. Penny'r persuit is fun, but kinda repetitive after some tries, and because the plant that gets boosted every event is random you may get seed packets for plants you may never even get to play with. Arena is not a bad game mode, but it's kinda pointless after beating adventure mode. The micro-transactions are not as bad assome people would lead you to believe, but they are a big annoyance in places like Penny's Persuit. The other problem with these is the insane amount of premium plants they keep releasing, and they show no sign of stopping anytime soon. At this rate, more than half the plants in this game will be premium one way or another. The game is solid, but these little annoyances hinder it so much. Whether you blame Popcap or EA for this doesn't matter, because the game feels incomplete. I'd preffer a version of the game available on more platforms and everything unlockable via in-game progress but with a reasonable prize tag than an incomplete game with the other half being sold to you separately.

If you are a Sonic fan who has been following the franchise up to this point, this game is a blessing, but if you don't know much about this universe, its characters or its gimmicks then you probably won't enjoy this game as much. The story isn't anything spectacular, but the Sonic cast are represented to be more serious and they feel more mature, which is appreciated by Sonic fans everywhere. The maps are really nice-looking, but the rendering could use some work. The combat is visually amazing, but very basic in terms of the button inputs (which isn't a factually bad thing). The enemies are a mixed bag, since some are pushovers and others are straight up annoying as heck to fend off. The side stories are nice but they don't contribute that much to the overall story or progression. The fishing minigame is broken; it basically gives you whatever you want for cheap prizes, if that's a agood or a bad thing depends on who you ask. The puzzles scattered through the islands are fun, but that's basically most of the gameplay, and eventually it will become repetitive. Overall the best things about this game are the soundtrack and the boss fights, and the worst thing about this game are the cyberspace levels, since your mobility and control over Sonic are amazing in the overworld but they feel off in 2D levels focused on speed. As I said before, if you've known Sonic and have been following his games for the past decade, this game is a gem; however, if you don't know as much about this universe then it will most likely leave you with mixed feelings. I have to give it an 8 purely because I'm a Sonic fan, but it's understandable if you disagree, I'm just giving my honest opinion.

The good: The sprites look good, the gameplay is honestly fun for an RPG, the combat starts out basic but evolves into something fun, the maps look good, the story is good and getting to play as Bowser with all his abilities and his minions is thrilling. It ay be a remake, but it is definitely a good one. The bad: Like other RPGs, grinding becomes pretty boring later on. Also, the difficulty of the game is toned down a lot, which takes away from the excitement of some of the battles. Bowser Jr's journey is a good addition but the combat could use some work. The game is fundamentally flawed in the sense that you could play the original on the same console with some help, therefore, making this remake redundant. Overall a fun game with some flaws here and there, if you still have a Nintendo 3DS and you haven't played this game, play it.
