Ok I get what we were doing but the casting was marginal, the plot and character development were marginal, and the overall delivery was again - marginal. If not for the Titanfall draw of a walking, talking mech that fights bad guys and androids with their own walking talking mechs . . . yeah it could have been a lot better.
Interesting futuristic time-travel and a less angry Ryan Reynolds . . . maybe? Yeah this one does it. The Casting is decent with young Adam being a stand-out character that really ties it all together and does a much better job of the sarcastic satirical dialog than his future counterpart. Decent watch with some heart and mostly fun antics.
A decent enough Sci-Fi time travel movie with enough quality butt-kicking action to make it a fun watch. Hell the plot and development even make sense for a JCVD movie. Crazy.
What a total thrill ride from start to finish! The plot and compressed but thorough character development. The concept of melding far flung futuristic but ancient sci-fi with prehistoric worlds, a father's search for redemption, and freakin' dinosaurs?! I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone didn't like this movie.
Really interesting post-apocalyptic vampire western! The blend of genres and the plot make this one a tough one to like or dislike! Paul Bettnay was fantastic as usual and the character of the priest is a whole new class of superhero! It would have been nice to see a whole trilogy but i doubt that will happen despite us getting so many Underworld movies suprisingly.
Yeah this is one of those movies you weren't supposed to like and in so many ways I didn't but in all the right ways I did! The adventure, the fantasy, and the super-subtle sci-fi elements here just played so well. Really wish that they would have made the villain so much more than a Mad-Max crazy guy.
A horror movie wrapped in the real life and scientific probability of simply surviving. This movie was soooo much scarier than it ever came off as and the book is even better at it. Still don't know how this translated to being a bright and hopeful story of "surviving the odds" but holy crap - it did.
A fantasy adventure that both had me, as a kid, enthralled and terrified all at the same time! I loved this movie! Had the lunchbox and the poster. I really was that kid growing up and this movie along with the rise of the 80s Sword and Sorcery genre are fully to blame!
Twists and turns, mystery and romance wrapped in intrigue. Who is really who? - and - What is really what? Hard to think that they could stay true to the whole feel of the original but this chapter certainly did and did it well. Casting at time felt spot on and at other felt a little forced though. Much like the original - you have to watch it more than once to take it all in!
Name a movie that you liked, then loved, and now cherish. That has grown as you have grown and this movie is it for me. I loved the sci-fi world of Blade Runner as a kid and then came to notice and recognize different bits as I grew and now I understand it all in a way that I don't think I ever could have if I had only ever watched it just one time.
Every 80s kid's dream was to be in the videogames we play and this fantasy adventure absolutely did that for me as a kid! Everything in this movie from the space saga to the aliens had me hooked as a kid!
Long Live the King! Riddick is the action hero that just doesn't stop and is smart enough that you'll never see it coming! The casting, visuals, dialog, development and the wit that it delivers them all with are delicious! I don't care if other critics or other fans aren't on board - I love this series!
The imagination and raw grit that comes in this almost non-stop action hero adventure is something that I didn't think was possible in such a new sci-fi fantasy universe! Riddick is brilliant and I am loving every minute of this world building (and destroying) franchise!
Find a movie where you have no idea what is going on at the beginning and you're following all the wrong characters . . . and by the end you are so immersed in this world and end up loving all the characters you though you would hate! This movie absolutely blew me away for all my expectations!
Nearly perfect in almost every single way for me personally. I was on the edge for almost every scene waiting to see what they pulled out next. I wasn't as much of a fan for some of the casting and character design but it world tonally for the rest of the movie and in the end it still leaves me wanting another chapter for this Spider-Man!
My god how wrong I was about this chapter! I really didn't think this was going to land for me but I ended up loving absolutely EVERYTHING in this movie. The casting, the visuals, the plot and development . . . everything was absolutely spot on! They even tied into "What-if" issues of the Marvel comics! I couldn't have been more glued to this movie if I hadn't watched it multiple times like I obviously did! Fantastic movie and an Amazing Spider-Man!
Nothing here I did like. First off, I can't stand Miles Morales as a Spider-Man. Second, I am not a fan of established content ever being retconned by "alternate universes / timelines" hokeyness . . . I didn't like the animation style. The dialog and delivery was weak and whiney. And lastly the casting was horrible - the only one that actually held their own was Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld).
OK this one was a hard sell but I still found love for it. They tried to stay as true as possible to the comics and open it up to the wider Spider-man world! Not the best casting but it wasn't horrible. Worst part is that you can really tell the actors themselves are about done with playing these parts and that is the sad part.
Didn't think we could get it a whole lot better than the first but this one really pulled it off! Love seeing all of those comic book villains come to life!
Not entirely comic accurate for the sake of Hollywoodland movie magic, but they pulled it off with grace and style. Casting and plot are spot on and the overall look and feel ranks right up there with 78 Superman in your ability to believe that a Spiderman can swing! Great movie!
Didn't like the first one - don't know why I thought in any world I would like the follow-up. Still can't stand Miles Morales as a Spider-Man. The casting is still almost all wrong - dialog and delivery was weak and whiney. I really don't understand the idea of the anti-anti-anti-hero being the leads in anything and overall this world as a whole just ****. Stick to the OG Peter Parker if you was Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends (and villains). This was garbage.
I really wanted to love this chapter but it just missed every mark and even seemed to have slipped course from the teasers and announcement trailers I saw. Didn't care for almost any of it. Dumb.
WOW! The vision and striking lead up to explaining where it all started was an under-appreciated view into so many mythological and metaphorical applications that blended right into a stunning epic. I was right there on the edge of my seat for the whole ride! Loved every minute of it.
I was on-board for this all the way up to the end, as it ties into the comics and novels but then it just completely dumped a heaping pile of xeno-crap on the whole thing. It was ok. . . but nothing I found a love for.
The whole vision of this chapter is completely under-appreciated and it shows in so many ways! From the critics reviews to the studios interference and the director's subtle hints there is so much here that was to pay homage to the original Ridley Scott vision and tie it in to James Cameron's blockbuster hit . . . I can't help but look at it like the ugly but loveably-fun cousin at family reunion!
Again we are going back to LV-426 and this time we are bring the whole fam damnily with us! Buckle-up! Wake up Hicks! Bring. It. On! We're on an elevator to hell - straight down!
The Ridley Scott space-horror that has it all. Nothing compares to this vision and I can't say enough about it all to do any amount of justice. If you haven't seen it - your loss!
Yeah this was . . . interesting . . . not fun, but not torturous either. Great cast but it just didn't feel right and I think that carried through in almost every way. It was ok.
Right back into the action and world of the DPRD and Guillermo del Toro has officially cemented Hellboy in the hearts, minds and eyes of all the true comics fans out there!
Yeah I am not sure what happened here but this just went completely off the rails from what we were getting just a few years ago. It's ok but it isn't great.
Oh man - we might actually be getting . . . Yeah, no. It is in some ways, so much more and so much less but still somewhat fun. Still somehow true to the comics and previous movies at the same time - I didn't hate this reboot of this beloved franchise as the casting was great and the world was more comic accurate, but it just felt somehow forced. Fun watch but room for speculation!
Oh look! It is almost what we wanted to see and almost the story we wanted to watch and almost the characters we asked for . . . . but not in any of the ways we actually wanted.
Picking right back up where we left off - we get more of what we already had in the first movie but with newer and slightly less recognizable characters that we didn't realize we wanted to see - but there's always Famke Janssen!
Is it comic accurate? Not really. Is it true to form from the comics? Again, not really. Is it a bad Hollywood re-imagining? Not really. Is it a fun watch to see a comic book on the big screen? Absolutely!
I shockingly mostly comic accurate depiction of the comic hero / anti-hero that we have all loved for years! This movie lands in all the right ways and doesn't stop to let you breath right up to the end where we get a tease of what could have been an even greater trilogy of movies!
I can't tell you everything I didn't see because this movie had me in tears and then on the edge of my seat for the whole run time! My gods this was the Wolverine we have been waiting to see and to have it be in this storyline was heart wrenchingly wonderful!
What the heck happened to this franchise?! . . . the trailer looked good but the actual movie looks like the whole thing was just phoned-in and there is so much green-screen in places there shouldn't be that the whole thing just feels 90s CGI-level unreal - to the point of being nearly un-watchable!
A terrific look at a classic anti-hero incarnation of one of my favorite Spider-Man villains! This movie, while not comic accurate, was spot on in spirit of Venom and Carnage! Great watch!
A Spider-Man movie without staring, showing or even mentioning Spider-Man made me think that there was no possible way this was going to work . . . But Tom Hardy pulls it off and Michelle Williams adds the balance this movie needed to make it a solid watch! Fun time!
A dangerously touching movie about a robotic toy that wants to be a real boy and the dangers that come from trusting all the wrong people and finding his way to the becoming the last example of humanity in a far flung future world.
One of my most favorite and first Sword and Sorcery Fantasy movies from when I was a kid and it is still at the top of my list for this category of movies!
The role that Jason Momoa was born to and most equipped to play! Loved seeing the world of Conan come back to life and wish it had been better received so that we could have seen a trilogy!
An 80s Sword and Sorcery Fantasy flick about Dar - the orphaned and extremely gifted young man that sets out to use his unusual powers to bond with the beasts that travel by his side! Love these movies!
A warm and touching road trip **** down on his luck and the magical kid with a dream to become "The Peanut Butter Falcon" alongside his hero the "Salt-water Redneeck" the ex-professional wrestler.
"Now come ova'here and let Momma brush ya hair . . . " This movie never fails to madulla my oblongata! Vicki Vallencourt can steal me a Porsche any day of the week!
I remember when this came out and it was one of those movies where you sat and made fun of this crazy guy that was just way too F*ed up but just happened to be right about stuff. In 2026 this guy is probably owed about as many apologies as Al*x Jones . . . holy crap to see this much spot-on recognitions was mind-blowing - from almost 30 years ago!
