Unfortunately I cannot at all recommend this game. I gave it a try because Japanese games are often zany and tightly-made but this one is incoherent. First and most importantly, it's crazy difficult. There's no ramp-up, so the first level is already taxing your lives. You're completely sprayed with bullets right from the start. This makes it difficult to acclimate or even understand how gameplay works. It would be nice if they had an incline so people could get used to the mechanics. The tutorial isn't really one at all. They label what the different UI elements and commands are, but don't explain what they do or how to use them effectively. This is especially problematic because you have three different special attacks that each do different things, but it's not clear what they do (even from practicing with them) and the game doesn't explain. The graphics have an early 3D aesthetic which makes it unique, so there's that. This genre is a difficult one to get into, because it overwhelms the player. I would not buy this again.

The cutest game I have ever played. Adorable Yarn Yoshi, endearing little puppy, gorgeous HD yarn world. Lots of puzzles and platforming, and a good deal of challenge. Dripping with heart, absolutely a joy!

Stupid game where everything looks the same, there is little variety and very few moves, so you explore around, do the same repetitive swimming thing, get bored, and put it away. Not much to keep you interested. Some indie games use relatively few controls and make them interesting (see The Unfinished Swan), but this one is lacking substance.

Punishingly difficult, they make you go super fast and add tons of moving obstacles really early on so you die quickly. Difficulty ramps up way too quickly, which discourages newcomers and works only for obsessive fans who have super quick reflexes. There aren't really any alternate game modes if you find the main one overly difficult or stressful. This is one of those games that's needlessly unforgiving and could easily be adapted with a few adjustments to the speed of the airship, the number of obstacles, and the space between them.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War9

Touching and stirring game that deals with real history and emotionally impacts the player. There are some pretty clever puzzles in here and you can easily redo sections if you die. It's focused on immersing you in war so you can experience what it's like.

City builders are not meant for consoles! Controls are quite difficult and the interface is wacky and unintuitive. Too many options, not well-explained, no way to figure out how the economy works, things just happen at random and you have to guess why. Humor is not very elaborate, just some lazy dictator stereotypes with no social commentary... it's so neutered that it's not political at all, it's just bland garbage.

Mega Man Legacy Collection0
Oct 16, 2015
Mega Man is an incredibly annoying franchise because they make it intentionally difficult and that just makes people want it even more. It's sadistic. They could very easily add a mode for newcomers, with less damage and more lives, but they keep up with this insane and punishing formula.

Star Wars Pinball: Heroes Within0

How many terrible, lazy games can Disney possibly milk out of the Star Wars franchise? Oh, we have only seen the beginning. As if the made in China action figures at the Disney store that break after one use weren't enough, now we get an endless stream of these games with absolutely no relation to the series. No sci-fi, no space opera, no exploration, no adventure, just another generic pinball game.

EA makes such garbage. They roll out the same terrible games with terrible controls and one new feature, and people lap it up. Go and buy last year's game for $5 in the bargain bin...

Stopped playing after 5 minutes.. the display system is poorly-implemented orthogonal and the sprites look like they're from a terrible indie game. Not up to the production quality I expect from PS4 games. Sprites don't pop off the background so it's hard to distinguish them. Voice acting is absolutely awful. Tutorial does the actions for you, which is always annoying because you have no control and are just watching a video at that point. More JRPG tropes, this is why the genre is dying.

Super cute, Media Molecule always does charming games. The DualShock control can be wonky but at least they tried. The characters like the squirrels are so endearing.

Of course EA puts out the same garbage sports game every year, add a guy to the roster and charge $60 all over again. Would it really hurt anyone to buy last year's version in the bargain bin for $10?
