Planescape: Torment9
Apr 6, 2015
Strong, unique narrative and a few interesting philosophical concepts, but it's not quite enough to totally overshadow the lame combat system and poor balancing of character attributes. Pros: -Story, a lot of depth, perspective varies depending on player actions -Dialogue trees -Several joinable factions, and a number of alignments based on player actions -Artwork, setting Cons: -Combat is pointless and uninteresting (also rare) -Game is unbalanced... Strength, dexterity and constitution attributes are useless. Wisdom unlocks most dialogue options, with a few options being unlocked by intelligence and charisma. Mage class is 10000x stronger than your other options due to the above reasons -A few bugs, most can be fixed with unofficial patches, but a couple quest-breaking bugs persist

Regarding the other reviews-- the controls really aren't that bad, and you stop noticing after 20-30 minutes. Voice acting is definitely bad, but this too becomes less apparent as you get into the game. That said, the setting and characters become vapid after about 5 hours of gameplay. Decent game, but nothing special. Pros: -Intriguing/unique setting -Three joinable camps -Fun/interesting combat system -Open world, very few load screens Cons: -Extremely buggy, some side quests completely bugged, ladders are a pain -A lot of grinding for xp, and enemies don't respawn making it even harder to grind -Other than joining a camp, there aren't any meaningful decisions / dialogue options -No fast travel. Period. And much of the open world is void of anything interesting

Played just over 10 hours before the game got stale. Pros: -Good humor -Setting/immersion Cons: -Combat is tedious -No leveling skills (game automatically allocates points which kills the role-playing factor and adds to the tediousness of combat) -No dialogue trees (only one or two places in the entire game where you can make an actual decision) -Story is not as good as most claim, it is silly and not meant to be taken seriously -Story is revealed almost entirely through cut scenes, so the game has the grind->cut scene-> grind ->cut scene format, and the parts inbetween cut scenes are mostly "puzzle" solving which is essentially a scavenger hunt. -No real side quests

First off, YES it is a console port and very much so. I recommend using a controller to play this game, but the game doesn't deserve a low rating simply because it's not designed for a keyboard/mouse interface. This game is amazingly fun. I like challenge in my games, something most new titles don't deliver. This game is difficult in places, with upgrade options and play styles that give it an rpg feel. The only reason I didn't give it a 10/10 is because I felt they could have done so much more with the upgrades and environment, including alternate endings based on whether you play stealthily or forcefully.

One of the few games I'll give 10/10. I've played this more than any other multiplayer game (800 hours). There are nine classes, each truly unique from the next, with a limitless number of strategies, tactics, etc. Played this game all through college and still loving it.

Played this game a while back, and it's definitely one of the best indie games out there. Not a platformer in the traditional sense, as it is a puzzle solving game, but it's very original, challenging and a lot of fun. The reason I don't give it a 10/10 is due to the story and the soundtrack. The story is super fruity and given through text between maps. The music is some weird ambient stuff that got on my nerves pretty fast so I just turned off the music volume and played some Def Leppard over it. Much better.

This game was sooooooooooo easy, which really annoys me when play these 2-D comeback games. I like a challenge when playing platformers. In DKC returns I breezed through the entire first world without a single death. The coop feature was half-assed and the gameplay was boring. It doesn't come close to the old DKC games.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind9

Morrowind is probably the best RPG I've ever played. It's truly free-roaming with almost no bounds. The game play is addicting. The drawback is the ridiculous amount of walking around, trying to reach places without fast-travel. Plus many of the towns and regions are pointless or repetitive, limiting the seemingly free-roam feel.

Super Mario Galaxy4

I'm a long time Mario fan all the way from Super Mario Bros (NES) to Mario 64. This game just doesn't cut it. 1) It's really easy. I beat the third bowser in about ten hours or so and hardly ever died. 2) It's really repetitive; nearly the entire game focuses on the gravity based physics of jumping from planet to planet. Maybe it's more fun if you play while dropping acid? 3) Since when does Mario get a story? This game seems to be designed for small children... a huge letdown for older fans
