The Mindy Project: Season 110
Jun 26, 2018
Fantastic show for a comedy. It's sad to see how many people can't see past her skin color or their prejudice based on it (not racist, prejudiced). I couldn't get into it the first time I discovered this show, but I soon got hooked the second time around. People love other comedies with ridiculous jokes, offensive even. Why not The Mindy Project? Anonymity provided by Internet reveals people's thoughts and actions if there were no consequences.

The Bold Type: Season 210

It's awesome how the writers brought up the struggles of being racially mixed - an issue many have ignored or overlooked. It's important to understand labels and its relation with our identities. We don't have to conform to societal standards, but we need to take time to figure out who we are and who we want to be. At the end of the day, it's our own choice to whether keep our rose colored glasses on.

Grace and Frankie: Season 110

Love the show. At last not a teen drama with century-old love affairs. Great actresses. Not many genuinely funny sitcoms out there these days. Keep up the good work.

For The People: Season 110

For someone who likes legal drama selectively, this one hit the spot. I like the storytelling, character development, and the plot isn't incredibly predictable. I love the cast isn't completely whitewashed. I can't wait to see another season. Thank you for making an interesting show I enjoy.

Baskets: Season 19

It's funnier than I expected. So many new shows have been disappointing, but this one has something refreshing to offer. Though inaccurate portray of how immigration works through marriage.

Grimm: Season 19

It's one of my favorite shows. I like the character development and plot. Was pretty sad to find out the show has been canceled. It would've been better if the cast isn't creepily homogeneous though.

Empire (2015): Season 17

Personally there's too much drama for my taste. But I admire the work they put into this show. It's rather refreshing in a whitewashed industry.

It has everything I like about a show - compelling storytelling, moments that make me smile, and important, real issues that are happening right now in the US. It's not too serious that I can't watch when I'm trying to relax, yet addressing many things that young adults experience in their daily life. It reminds me of my favorite show, The Golden Girls, without somewhat insulting jokes. Of course it would be nice to see more non-white actors joining the show in the future. Thank you for providing me ACTUAL entertainment.

A.P. Bio: Season 13

Couldn't watch it after the first episode. Toying on stereotypes, can you be any less creative than that? Main character is a stereotypical white male who has enjoyed privileges all his life too. The jokes are NOT funny at all. The US TV networks are really making some below average shows these days.

This Is Us: Season 18

I like the show and its uncommon characters (for American television). As a student of sociology and psychology, it always saddens me to see segregation and separation among ethnicities (and sometimes excluding mixed ethnicities) and social classes. Prejudice in certain social norms resulting several unfortunate outcomes, e.g. young black males having one of the highest unemployment rate in the US. I appreciate the writers in this show attempting to tackle racial issues, though not very well-executed. The scene on Thanksgiving when Rebecca answered "I will talk to them about it" after Randall said he felt uncomfortable that Rebecca's parents would take pictures of "just the twins" kept coming back to me. It's understandable how stressed out she must be, but she could've hugged him and ensured it won't happen again. Not to mention Kate and Kevin are surprisingly not very aware of racial issues even as adults... I felt extremely uncomfortable when Kevin kept mentioning Randall as his "adopted" black sibling, as if he never accepted Randall as his real sibling though they grew up together since day one. How I wish people will someday see race is really not what essentially makes us different from each other. Alas, often our ascribed status creates blind spots that we can't see. Overall, the show is more than decent in some ways. I was very impressed with the first episode. I hope this show will get better over time.

Gypsy (2017): Season 11

I agree with the other user's review, I hope this show gets canceled. The plot sounded interesting at first, but as I continued to watch more episodes, I discovered the storytelling is rather dull and flavorless. I had a hard time concentrating on the show by the 4th episode. Naomi Watts did a good job with what she was given, though she could be doing something more meaningful with her time and energy other than filming this show. As someone who is studying to become a psychology professional, I find it beyond disturbing that the main plot is about the lead character's unprofessional behaviors. Not to mention they never specified what kind of therapist she's supposed to be. And the last but not the least, is how racist this show is. The show takes place in California, supposedly, yet there is no non-white people but the husband's assistant?? AND the assistant is suspected to be having an affair with the husband from the very beginning??? What are the writers trying to imply? Your little story could be affecting someone's view on race and how that someone treats people, or worse. This is a show I will never let my future children see. However, I do applaud them for writing something out of the society's heteronormative box. Still, this is not a healthy show to watch.
