What a ride! Laughing, crying, just looking at people and loving them. It was beautiful, endless, hilarious

This movie is much deeper than the critics and audience are seeing. To judge it as a genre film is to miss the point. It is the poetry of the symbols that make this movie great. Think what it means that they look exactly like us. Why? And why: All in red, prison uniforms, underground, barely speak, act weird and wrong, aggrieved and violent, say they're "Americans", cut the nation in half. Are they the tortured soul of black folks? Of America? Of outer vs inner self? of our current politics? All of these meanings shimmer and shift, like in a poem, and don't resolve. It's about the soul of America in 2019 the way "Waiting for Godot" was about the soul of Europe in the 20th Century. Judging this film by the scares or thrills or mythology is to miss the good stuff.

Delightful! Joyous! and so touching. Ben Wishaw is so ardent that he melts your heart. The kids are just right. Emily Blunt is Magical, Magical. Her voice is fantastic. The songs are hummable and memorable. I've been singing "Can You Imagine That," and "Nowhere to go but up" all week. The finale with the balloons surpasses the wonder of "fly a kite."

Such great acting, such great plotting and character, such good comic timing, such great action direction. What I love most is how Jesse Eisenberg never makes those tough guy faces. He's just an expert, like a stoner chessmaster, and killing is his talent. Insecurity and indecision in any other actor is annoying, but it's so cute on Jesse. So many great, surprising laughs! I loved it!
