Mighty Switch Force! Hyper Drive Edition9
Jul 19, 2015
Some might make the claim that Might Switch Force: Hyper Drive Edition is lacking in content. I have come to fully disagree with this assessment. At first glance, the game appears minimal. I played through, what I thought, was half of the entire game in just a few hours. A couple hours later and I beat the main story to find that there were extra levels waiting for me to complete. I thought what a nice bonus it was and beat those more challenging levels a few hours later once more. Now, I have unlocked "hyper" levels. The addition of these levels have effectively multiplied the amount of levels I had previously had by two. As one plays through this astounding game with its beautiful graphics, unique and challenging gameplay he or she will constantly be stumbling on levels to complete. If you are like me, then you just can't put the controller down! The levels are not too long, but are also not so short that they are easy. They provide just the right balance of length and challenge to make you want to play more without overwhelming you or underwhelming you. Another feature that will keep players coming back for more is trying to complete a "par" on each level. To do this, one must finish the course in a designated amount of time. The game is so challenging that I have yet to be able to do this on a single level. I am curious to know what happens when I do and I will certainly keep trying. The only drawbacks in the game that I have noticed are that the enemies become bland and most do not provide any sort of challenge. The real challenge in the game is the platforming, but the badies that the main character, Patricia Wagon, has to face seem to be shoehorned into the experience. I would have like ed to see a larger variety of enemies and a greater threat level from them. Overall, I feel I made the right purchase in choosing Might Switch Force: Hyper Drive Edition and I will certainly be picking up its sequel Mighty Switch Force 2. Great gameplay mechanics, original design, keeps me coming back for more and provides a much needed challenge among the slew of less challenging games that hit store shelves in this day and age. Well done Wayforward, I will have to check out some more of their games in the future.

Pokemon Battle Trozei8

The game is quite fun for those who enjoy games such as Candy Crush and Bejeweled. Pokemon Battle Trozei is fun and fast paced and provides a challenge for any who wish to earn the best ranking on each level. The controls are very easy to master, yet the game still provides a tough challenge. Never have I felt more encouraged to finally catch 'em all!

Super Mario 3D World10
Nov 26, 2013
Wow, where to begin? Super Mario 3D World is a staggering milestone for the Mario franchise. The game is top of the line and on par with the likes of Super Mario Galaxy and Mario Sunshine. 3D World brings back, for the first time since Paper Mario for the Wii, Peach as a playable character. She is not a clone like characters in the New Super Mario Bros series, however. Actually, ALL the additional characters have their own unique skills and abilities. Mario is average in speed and jumping abilities, Luigi has his flutter jump to clear longer gaps, Peach is slower, but can float for a distance in the air, while Toad is the speediest character with the smallest jump. All 4 characters (and one unlockable) bring great fun to the game. I enjoyed playing as each and every one. Some characters were better for specific levels. Like in one where you are required to jump from block to block over lava gaps. In this level, Peach is the superior character to use due to her ease of control and her floating ability. On another level, the map is scrolling side to side and you have to make your way through a train as fast as you can. I found it best to use Toad as he was quick enough to get in and out of small places. He really came in handy in collecting every last Green Star (which by the way there are 3 Green Stars scattered throughout every main level.) Aside from the graphical improvement (which does wonders for Mario and friends) the best part of 3D World is it's level design. Each level is cleverly themed and stocked full of brand new power-ups. One level is stylized after a large pagoda in which you escalate the walls by turning into cute, adorable cat-versions of your character. Another level is a signature to the Mario universe and involved traversing a spooky mansion, but do not fret, because at some point before venturing deep within you can pick up a block to wear on your head that produces a beam of light, much like a flash light. Thank goodness for the flash light block, there are many ghosts waiting for you ahead! The game takes many hours to complete, and that is not even counting the time it takes to collect every Green Star and Stamp collectibles and the Bonus stages that come after the main story (another staple to the franchise as of late). Despite the lack of online multiplayer, the game is a fabulous masterpiece. It makes up for it with a local multiplayer, great level designs and brand new, clever power ups as well as a change to the typical story. It was refreshing to see Bowser kidnap a new victim (or should I say victims?) in this game as it allowed the player to take control of video games' most prized Princess, Peach. I would highly recommend this game to every and all ages no matter their experience in gaming. The controls are easy to pick up, the levels are a blast and you can get the whole family involved. Happy gaming and good luck stomping those Goombas!

Pokemon X9
Oct 13, 2013
Pokemon X and Y is my new favorite entree into the franchise. The 3D sprites are fantastic to watch. The new 3D movements really bring to life, the Pokemon in battle. The game itself only introduced 60 Pokemon (more or less), but the addition of around 20 mega evolutions to discover, the game is chalk full of seemingly endless fun. Especially when you consider how much easier X and Y make it to EV train your Pokemon. Competitive battling is about to get that much more interesting, oh and the addition of the NEW Fairy Type will shake things up for sure. X and Y are not your typical addition to the franchise, they do absolutely everything right and then some! More Pokemon are added, more moves are added, all the typical things you would think are in the game, but the game has gone above and beyond my expectations with all the extra stuff that technically The Pokemon company did not "have" to add. Mega evolutions are an example of this. They could have left them out altogether, but I really appreciate the change to the meta game and it also gives us older fans a reason to raise some of our old favorites again! Pokemon X and Y is easy enough to be enjoyed by newcomers to the series, but also introduces a cornucopia of brand new material not found in any other iteration to the franchise and thus is also perfect for veteran Pokemon fans. That is why I believe X and Y deserve a 10/10. It is simply a perfect game with no flaws that I could tell. I will be playing it for a long, long time and I know for a fact there are many other people out there who will do just the same. I got to stop writing this review, because I got to get back to playing my game!
