Broforce

Broforce, or, as I like to call it, The Expendables if it wasn't ****, takes the irreverent humor that permeated Team America: World Police and amps it up to truly obscene levels, never letting up on the gore or, perhaps more importantly, the fun. No matter how repetitive decimating throngs upon throngs of faceless terrorists in increasingly creative ways gets, the game excels at keeping things fresh, whether it be via introducing a new enemy type or bringing a new Bro into the action. But perhaps the most unreservedly entertaining aspect of the game is how hilarious it is. Uncalled-for explosions, satirical jabs at the "America, F*** Yeah!" mentality, and a copious amount of muscles permeate Broforce and turn it into an experience you aren't likely to forget. The level editor is excellent and keeps the game from getting old; multiplayer follows suit by doubling (or even quadrupling) the fun. On an overall scale, Broforce is easily one of the most hilariously entertaining games currently on the market. Although it still could use some work in some areas, all of these issues are compensated for with explosions and testosterone aplenty. To say it would offers a bang for your buck would be an understatement; this game will turn even the most devoted tea-drinkers into fully-fledged American citizens.

Halo: Spartan Assault
4
User ScorelegodinosandZT2
Dec 10, 2015
Halo: Spartan Assault attempts to profit off the name of the well-established Halo franchise but is ultimately a tepid, bland, and thoroughly unsurprising affair. The mobile trappings are still incredibly blatant even when transposed to a different platform, but what's most insulting is that the developers didn't even feel the need to switch anything up. The format (top-down shooter) is completely banal, the story is half-assed at best, and for some reason the worthless, nigh on insulting microtransactions have been carried over from mobile as well. On an overall scale, Spartan Assault would have amounted to nothing had it not been for the Halo branding; as is, it's still garbage. This is one that should've stayed on tablet.

Halo 4

Halo 4 is a very odd beast in that it has completely divided fans, with some proclaiming it as the best in the series thus far and others lambasting it as one of the most uninspired shooters ever made. And while both sides have valid arguments to be had, I can safely confirm that Halo 4 is neither incredible, nor abysmal - rather, it lies somewhere comfortably in the middle. The game's main issue comes from its profound lack of originality. With the exception of ODST, every Halo game thus far has added something new to the formula, and the fourth entry is desperately needing something to call its own. Even the multiplayer seems to be borrowing heavily from similarly-themed FPS's such as Call of Duty. Yet do these things detract from the fun? Not at all. The graphics are absolutely drop-dead gorgeous, and sound design is top-notch. As for the score, newcomer Neil Davidge unfortunately fails to deliver, but it's hard not to get swept up in the spectacle anyway. The campaign is great, adding welcome new elements that bring a much needed layer of depth to proceedings. The piffle involving the Prometheans is predictably trite and convoluted, but the newfound humanity brought to both the Master Chief and Cortana is very clever, well-written, and surprisingly heartfelt. As for multiplayer, while the lack of originality is at its worst here, it's still an incredibly fun romp with some interesting new mechanics. Unfortunately maps fail to live up as they are relatively dull (with a few exceptions) and don't really allow for any innovation. Overall, Halo 4 is an entertaining return for the Master Chief. While several issues still linger, none of them have a significant impact and the end result is a high-octane and occasionally moving journey through Covenant territory. Halo 5 can't come fast enough.

Smashy Road: Wanted

A surprising step-up from the abysmal first part, Smashy Road: Wanted ups everything for an infinitely more entertaining experience all-round. Although there are certainly issues to be found, they really don't matter as it's just one of those games where fun is key. Strap in and enjoy the ride.

Smashy Road is no more than a misguided attempt to capitalize on the success of a popular app. The idea is there; the effort isn't. Gameplay is insanely boring, with no real goals or anything outside of crashing a car. You're better off with the sequel, which is ten times as fun.

Bloons TD 4

Bloons TD 4 was pretty impressive upon release, but these days it suffers from outdated graphics, gameplay, and interface. Most of the issues in the game would be fixed or tweaked in the subsequent Bloons TD 5, which is honestly the better purchase; having said that, it's still plenty of bloon-popping fun if you're willing to take the plunge.

Porting a classic to the small screen isn't an easy task, and while the mobile version of Terraria is by no means perfect, it's still an entertaining experience. As with any port to mobile, most of the issues lie with the limitations - worlds remain two sizes too small, frame and spawn rate issues abound, and most annoyingly, glitches. Lots of 'em. Like, an aggravating amount. Fortunately, constant updates mean those pesky bugs stay manageable (if not squashed), and in the end it's easy to overlook these minor flaws in what's otherwise an admirable port of the PC masterpiece.

Bloons Monkey City

After loving the bananas out of the original Bloons TD 5 and having a reasonably fun time with the subsequent Bloons TD Battles, I was ready to go ape over yet another entry into the Bloons series. Unfortunately, Bloons Monkey City is nowhere near the fun those two had to offer. Instead, the game takes the basic premise of the classic tower defense and wraps it in the guise of a Clash of Clans knockoff (shouldn't we really have a genre for that now?) To no one's surprise, the two don't gel together at all, and the result is a surprisingly tedious experience. Not a complete disaster, but a disappointing misfire.

I feel like if Swordigo spent less time paying homage to games past and more time trying to be its own thing, it could be something really special. It's still a great game regardless. The graphics have dated somewhat but the story and scope haven't. Not a classic by any means, but a fun epic nonetheless.

Bloons Tower Defense 5 is not only the best in the prolific series thus far, it's one of the best Tower Defense games I've ever played. The level of customization available is second to none, the numerous towers (both old and new) are devilishly creative, and Missions and Challenges keep things fresh when the going gets rough. However, what's ultimately the most endearing and rewarding aspect of the game is the depth - there's just so much to learn! The journey from Easy to Impoppable is loaded to the brim with delicious bloon-popping fun, and it's certainly worth some of your time (or, in my case, all of it!)

Yeah, I know, right? Who'd have thought that an idea like this would've worked? Yet with a clever interface and a welcome twist on the classic game, BTD Battles is a modest success brought down by intrusive in-app purchases, no real way to report hackers (which are all too common), and, perhaps most critically, a lack of any substantial new content. Battling players online is still great fun though!

If I were to summarize Geometry Dash in a word, it would be addictive. Who knows how many hours I've wasted on this game? I don't, and I'm not sure I want to. XD But a game has to have more than addictive-ness to succeed, and I'm pleased to say Geometry Dash delivers in spades. Taking the tried-and-true premise and turning it into something special, the game features spectacular level design, infectious music, and a casual demeanor missing from most apps these days. Go check it out; I'll be here humming the soundtrack (and I probably will be for a while... ^.^)

Kingdom Rush
8
User ScorelegodinosandZT2

Kingdom Rush is a brilliant experience in many regards, and although it may not do anything to revolutionize the tower defense formula, it does a helluva job at keeping it fresh. Set in medieval times, Kingdom Rush pits your forces ("towers") against a series of fantasy enemies invading across a series of increasingly difficult maps. First and foremost, the game looks beautiful. Maps appear as if they came straight out of The Lord of the Rings, and while there isn't as much customization as in, say, Bloons Tower Defense 5, the overall gameplay is more streamlined and focused. Yet despite the innovation, I still never find myself fully satisfied with Kingdom Rush. Maybe what I'm missing here is something outside of the standard story mode? Regardless of minor quibbles, Kingdom Rush remains an immersive tower defense that's sufficiently entertaining and visually breathtaking.

Happy Wheels

The Happy Wheels port to iOS comes hotly anticipated yet, despite capturing most of the grisly charm of the original, I have to say it's somewhat disappointing. With only sixteen playable levels currently available and a subpar level editor, there's not much reason to return to the game. However, I'm sure further updates will fix these issues, and besides, all complaints are rendered void at the sheer amount of ways your character can get ripped apart.

Little Inferno is without question one of the best games I have ever had the fortune to play. The sheer level of thought that went into this gem, further evidenced by the clever plot nuances and striking allegory, makes for an experience you won't likely forget in the near future. Plus, fire. Can't say no to that.

This game is extremely fun and I would recommend it to anybody! You get to beat up bad guys and climb walls and swing through cities just like Spider-man - what's not to like? There are a few offbeat things, though: 1. It's way too short. 2. The story is really boring, and the description of how the psycho bad guys broke out is headache-inducing.

This game is really fun! The variety of weapons and the fact that it's free make it a must-have! My only nitpick is that it is sort of hard and boring to figure out your opponent's location and even at all the way easy the computer is still playing hard.
