Rather smarter and deeper than I had thought it would be, also mostly well directed, visually stunning and well acted. Hopefully this series will motivate upcoming fantasy shows to be even more compelling.

I never would have guessed it but I ended up loving this show. It took me a while to start watching because I don't like procedurals and I thought the premise of the show was very silly (I still do, to be honest, I mean, Holmes in modern day New York...). And yet, it works really well. The writing and the acting are very good. The show is smart but also often moving and funny. What I like most are the character interactions and the themes evoked (which are often thought provoking). Honestly, to me, this is a completely unexpected but thorough success.

This was a good show that never took itself seriously despite providing great entertainment. It was witty, fun and sometimes moving. All the characters were well written and the main cast was incredibly likeable. The dialogs were always a lot of fun and the plot sometimes quite smart but always funny. It'll remain as one of those shows that one wonders both how they were greenlit and also why they were cancelled. Of course, one cannot help but wonder how well the main cast would have made it in the industry if the show had run a few more seasons.

Season 1: Well this show got on my nerves. The premise is interesting but the execution awful. Instead of showing that the problems faced by the main protagonist are systemic and that deep reform of both the political and justice system are needed, the show spends most of its time on the anecdotal aspects of the main protagonist's case. Also, WAY too much time is spent showing the (very irritating) quirks and relations of a bunch of sociopathic lawyers working for a bunch of psychopathic arms manufacturers. Writers and producers have a duty to not get sidetracked when describing a story like this. This may be a work of fiction but it is based on reality and as such it should not avoid diving as deep as possible. Alas, the opposite is done here and what we are left with is pretty shallow. On the plus side, great acting (but mostly wasted on cowardly and criminally insane characters...).
