hell is us has one of the best identities I've every experienced. the game is dismal, bleak and depressing from the start. being set during a disgusting and particularly cruel civil war will do that and hell is us doesn't hold back. the world and world building coupled with the unforgettable music certainly set a mood. the depth of the lore must be applauded, the team created an incredible history and country that was very believable and easy to get lost in. they did a great job of showing both sides of the story too (palomist vs sabinian). for the most part i enjoyed the gameplay and character movement. interactable items and chests/doors were implemented with class and were easy to see. i really enjoyed the good deeds and mysteries systems, i found completing them very engaging, logical and satisfying. aside from maybe one or two of them, they felt natural and not cheap. some were very tricky. location design and details were top notch in my opinion...i really enjoyed the exploration despite feeling overwhelmed and lost a lot of the time. but, without a map, i was forced to pay attention and hone my sense of direction and i acclimated decently. the toughest part was never knowing if i was going to hit a "point of no return" and fail some good deeds or mysteries...i felt stressed to know that i had to explore every inch before moving on. unfortunately, there was a point in talju that i would call cheap as it's possible to fail 4 good deeds by choosing one single dialog with one NPC. i was not happy when this occurred to me and i feel a warning should have been put in place. mind you, i only failed one of the 4 good deeds but i still had to start a new game and speed run up to that point to complete it. some downsides were apparent though. the enemy lock on is strange and most times after defeating a haze i would have to pan the camera manually to lock-on the hollow. even with auto-switch lock on enabled this was entirely manual almost all of the time and i don't know why. it was annoying. i feel like a lot of the weapon glyphs were underwhelming and not fun, i didn't like most of them and really only stuck with a few glyphs throughout the game. i didn't touch any of the grief glyphs outside of trying them out, they just weren't a part of my playstyle. i tried to make terror work but it again didn't entirely suit. i was modifying how i wanted to play the game just to accommodate using different glyphs. perhaps this is intentional. i stuck with a sword of rage and a polearm of ecstasy for the entire game and was happy. overall, i cannot wait for what rogue factor has in store next. hopefully there is a hell is us follow up or expansion, i would love to see another game like this but with an all new civil war in an all new fictitious country with the same mechanics/approach. if there can be a "fromsoft" style of game i have hopes there can be a "rogue factor" style of game. and i hope it's like hell is us.

unfortunately I couldn't tolerate cl4p-trap. so unbelievably annoying. the game looked great though, such a huge improvement over borderlands 3 graphically. but **** cl4p-trap, absolutely ruined the experience. couldn't withstand more than a couple hours of his constant ****.

the game is complete fan service at its finest. excellent game and some of the best fun I've had with the resident evil series as someone who's been playing the games since the 90s. I do wish Grace's moaning and wheezing while running or at low health was less sexual sounding, it's honestly really distracting.

this was my least favourite of the three games. the controls were noticeably problematic and unresponsive, mostly related to having the action buttons on toggle versus the default hold setting. a lot of times the game would indicate the toggle was active but actions would not be performed. constantly fighting with keeping the flashlight illuminated was awful, the game would turn if off and not remember to turn it back on. the final straw was the hot air balloon portion, I attempted to ignite the flame dozens of times and it only worked once I tried changing from performance to beauty graphical mode. yes, I was so desperate that I was changing options like that to see if it would help. and it did, first try. lots of empty uninteresting rooms and no real challenge other than fighting against poor controls and lighting. very disappointed.

great visuals and audio, controls are okay, story is weird and I liked it. combat is awful, repetitive and the real reason why I couldn't do more than one play though. i spent 80% of the game dreading combat encounters and the combat made the game feel like it overstayed it's welcome. this game doesn't feel like a silent hill game, it feels like it can exist and do it's thing because silent hill exists as a brand. I am happy with the time I spent playing the game but I'm most disappointed that the game's combat was so annoying that I couldn't play it more.

this is the survival horror game i didn't know i needed. everything appealed to me; the inventory management, the tension, the setting, the music, the audio design, the weird story, the setting, and the list goes on. i love being scared and feeling uneasy while gaming/watching movies and nothing has had the effect that this game had on me. there are a few games out there that i replay annually and this has definitely made the list. kudos to bloober for this game, you've garnered my respect and excitement. thank you.

as a massive fan of final fantasy 16 I really thought and hoped I would enjoy this. the game looks beautiful and the music is quite good but nothing else interested me enough to keep playing. the structure of the game was annoying (cinematic scene, mob of weak enemies, boss, run to next section, repeat every 5-7 minutes). the dialog and delivery was especially annoying and cringe. the combat was flashy and looked cool sometimes but was mostly cumbersome. I dont doubt this game will be awesome for someone who clicks with it but it didn't click with me.

the switch to a more "open world" approach fell flat for me. it forced far too much wandering and back-and-forth. i spent more time trying to figure out where to go, what to do and THEN travelling there entirely manually than actually progressing in the game. i really enjoyed the first game and was very disappointed in this one. couldn't finish it despite enjoying the story. sad.

so far i find the game very entertaining and well voiced. conversations are very natural. the gunplay is great as always but the upgrade system took a long time to understand and seems very convoluted. the game isn't clear on how things work. i dig the story so far but a lot of the tasks are the same ole...lots of collecting of crafting resources, lots of caches, a forced fishing mechanism i could care less about. overall it's a fun and easy game to jump in and out of and that's how i'm going to treat it.

always online and server issues means game is currently not playable. i guess that backfired.
