Ara Fell: Enhanced Edition8

This was a fun RPG game. The battle system is pretty basic as with most early JRPGs. The ability to upgrade your armor and weapons exist by finding stones throughout the game so you don't actually buy new gear. Not really a bad thing. I overall enjoyed this game and it was definitely worth the price. I'm normally a huge fan of JRPGs that use a world map to travel from town to town on but this game did a great job without one. The number 1 complaint I have is the soundtrack. This games soundtrack never made me feel like I was on an adventure. The music always felt somber, creepy, or slow...There was never a tune that just picked up the spirit of the game and made you feel like you were actually on an adventure.

The art in this game is absolutely gorgeous. The eerie music adds the creepy depth to perfectly fit each area of the game. The controls at first were a little difficult for me but I got the hang of them and found I could get around, dodge, and attack with ease. The story presentation really isn't my thing. You get little bits of the past but they are scattered around and mixed up and I was confused at times about what was going on or had happened. The combat is a lot of fun. I did not find this to be an easy game. Sometimes I would die due to not paying attention to health, or because I took a big hit that drained more than I thought it would, or because I fell into a lake of poison. I died repeatedly at times trying to get past a certain room and probably died over 10 times for each boss in the game before beating them. I did not find the main bosses to be a walk in the park. I felt like this game was a challenge and beating it felt great. The plethora of spirits you get is nice but I found myself only using 2 for combat and 2 for getting around to hard to reach places. The rest didn't get touched. I don't think the game a linear as I found myself exploring areas that were not inline with where I should have been in the game and some areas required critical thought to get through or a specific ability which I didn't have at the time. Overall an amazing game and I hope to see another one from these developers.

This game was a pretty decent game. I thought the way the story was presented, with the grandpa narration, gave it its own personality although being an almost Zelda clone. The puzzles were fun to figure out. Most were way too easy and a few were a bit tougher. The combat was just way too easy as everything dies in one hit of the arrow or boomerang. The enemies that come in swarms (bees, zombies, fireball things) can be killed with one use of the quake medallion also. My biggest gripe was how short the game was. I blew through it in one day (8hrs) and was left scratching my head wondering if there was more or if I really just beat it. I hope that if they make a sequel that they remove some of the insta-kill methods and make the enemies just a tad bit harder along with the bosses. Also a few more hours of game play would be nice. Either way it was worth playing and I did have fun with it.
