Should you play the original or this remake? Well imo it's very even between the2. I've rewatched the original cutscenes in parallel to the new ones and found that sometimes the new ones are better, sometimes the old ones. Ultimately it comes down to preference. The original comes across as more weird which can make it both more engaging but also take away some of the more serious aspects which can come across more strongly in the remake, which plays it more serious. For the most part I recommend looking up both cutscene versions at least, whichever version you choose. Some endings have also been altered, the water one the most, so make sure to look up both versions for thsoe aswell.

I loved the original Starcraft and Brood war. And while Starcraft 2 is still good gameplay-wise and character-wise, the story is much worse. It feels like they wanted to get rid of the series. Wrap it all up and be done with it. Pretty stale and straight-forward, uninspired. No more twists, betrayals and interesting political situations, like the original story had. Overall The whole Xel'naga and Duran story-line mystery especially has basically been straight up thrown away. The story of Wings of Liberty is especially bland and the weakest of the 3. Gameplay: 10 Characters: 7 Story: 2

Excellent story with many world changing twists to it. And unlike most other stories that go wild like that, this one actually manages to tie everything together in the end so that it all makes sense. Pretty neat strategy part aswell.

That said, with Legacy of the Void they at least tried to make a good story with the new faction showing up and more. This is the only part of Starcraft II with a decent story. Wow, what's with the critc reviews hating this game so much? It's been forever since i played this, but I remember it as a pretty neat little RTS. Nothing wrong with it, perfectly functional. I don't remember it having much of an overarching story, but I recall the mission briefings being pretty neat at least. I played alot of different strategy games and this wasn't my first one and I still had enough fun with it.

Seems like they botched the initial version of the PC port and got a hailstorm of negative reviews for it, that are still pulling the rating down alot. However those issues are resolved by now. I recommend paying more attention to newer reviews or the ratings on the other systems. As for my rating, I did like the weird plot and style, aswell as the characters quite a bit. The DLC is very good aswell. Normally I'd probably give it a 9, but given how underrated it still is on the PC I'll make it a 10.

Compared to the first game, this one switched genres and there isn't really an overworld strategy part to it anymore. It does however now have an interesting story and lore and it still has pretty challenging fights and interesting build your fighting deck mechanics. A bit of a hidden gem, really.

Pretty unique game mechanics that I've never seen anywhere else. It's kind of like a mix of overworld turn based strategy combined with tactical collectable card/monster system. The fights are pretty challenging aswell. Don't expect a story, there really isn't one worth mentioning. Definitely give this a try if you're tired of all the more typical strategy games. I'm giving it a 10/10 for its uniqueness and being pretty challenging, which is what I want from my strategy games.

One of the very few games I keep coming back to replay every few years. It doesn't have a story, but the game stays fresh, because unlike most other single player campaigns the AI doesn't always behave in the same way. There's also some degree of randomness to how well units hit and doge, which keeps you on your toes. Sometimes a stronger unit will lose the fight. That may sound like a negative, but personally I liked having thrown a curveball once in a while and having to adjust plans when a fight goes worse than expected. Again, keeps the game fresh. You can't just blindly send your usual units in and expect the same outcome. It's also very fast paced. No build up of bases. Just conquering of factories which produce none-stop for whoever owns it. If you conquer or lose a factory right before a strong unit gets finished, that is now the other one's unit, which can shake things up aswell.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

This game has an undeservedly bad reputation. Probably because they mismarketed it as Symphonia 2, but then made all the Symphonia 1 characters side characters that only visit the party. So just don't go in expecting that. Another problem is that the inbetween story and antagonists were cut short and are pretty undeveloped. Still, the final story & antagonist is pretty good and it has the best (funniest) skits in the series (I know Phantasia, Symphonia1+2, Abyss, Vesperia, Graces, Xillia1+2, Zestiria and Berseria). For me that's worth alot. My primary attraction point to the Tales series is the skits. The characters are fine too. Overall I actually enjoyed this the 2nd most after Xillia, about on par with Abyss and Xillia 2. (Yes, I liked this more than the original Symphonia. Maybe part of the reason I wasn't disappointed with it not being all that Symphonia.)

My favorite game in the series. (I know Phantasia, Symphonia1+2, Abyss, Vesperia, Graces, Xillia1+2, Zestiria and Berseria). Best overall character roster. There wasn't a single character I didn't like among the playable and major antagonists. The story is very good too and doesn't have any things just work out unrealistically well for or power of friendship moments, like some of the other titles in the series. WARNING: Make sure to play Jude's side first, though. Milla's side really should be locked before having finished Jude's. It spoils one of the major moments on Jude's side if played first.

The story is nowhere near as good as in the main game, but it's still fine and fleshes the world out a bit more. The maps are good and more unique than the average main game ones. The biggest value of the DLC comes in the form of the new classes and new units+supports, aswell as more quest and paralogue missions for the main game.

Very old, hidden gem, but a gem it still is. Everything except the graphics holds up, even 20 years later. The story is really good aswell and has branching paths with multiple endings. I especially liked all the darker endings you can get if you side with the more neutral or evil races.

Very good story, lore, characters and gameplay. It's also very long for its price. There's also a ton of unit customization. Everybody can become every class, for example. Downsides are that they clearly had too little budget for how large **** this is. One route was clearly cut short and there's alot of recycled maps. Minor UI design problems exists aswell. Regardless, I'm still going to give it 10/10 in spite of that, because of how long of a very good game you get and because of how many hundreds of hours of enjoyment I got out of this. Actions speak louder than words and this is definitely one of my top games in terms of hours I have sunk into it. If it's one of my top games by hours, I have to give it a top rating aswell. Hopefully they will make a definitive edition or something at some point and actually complete the rushed, incomplete route.

Pretty good story told visually with almost no words. Also an actual detective game, everything can be a hint. Locations of people on the map, clothing, who hangs out with who, etc. Doesn't hold your hand either. Go and figure stuff out by just context and the frozen moment of death. Very unique.
