The Expanse: Season 19
Feb 12, 2019
This series was recommended to me by a friend. Numerous times. Each time I had to start to watch it from the beginning (as each time there were about 4 months in between) and never really got into it. Then, two thirds into the first season it made klick and I binged the rest in no time. This series expands, and expands and expands in scope. Starting small it goes bigger and bigger until you cannot go away from your tv screen. It is REALLY good. I am very happy Amazon picked it up for season 4 and am looking forward to more good-looking, well-written story.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Season 19
Feb 12, 2019
This TV show is what I was long time searching for. As all good TV shows today are kind of dark, tense and epic (GOT, The Expanse, Westworld), I was looking for a show which is fun, hopefully 20 minutes and where I can like the characters. Nine-Nine is to Police shows what Scrubs is to hospital dramas. The main plot are the characters and the interactions between them while the setting goes more into the background. Just watch it and feel better afterwards!

Catastrophe: Season 19

Smart and real. Some of the funniest moments I had in TV this year. The end of the last episode was a bit of a let-down though. Finally a good comedy of 20 minutes I can watch with my wife!

Happy!: Season 110

The kind of ridiculousness I love. A bit heavy on the violence but it goes with the topic.

Star Trek: Discovery: Season 27
Feb 12, 2019
Well.... apparently they listened to some of the feedback. Episode 2 in this season (New Eden) has been the first episode that felt more like star trek. They turned up some of the humor, reduced (a small bit) the militarism and "us" versus "them". Other characters than Michael got some more play. Also the story was for the first time something approaching interesting. Giving a 7 now compared to the 4 on season one. Final verdict outstanding while waiting for the rest of the season to play out, but definitely giving it now a serious try while waiting for new episodes of the Orville to come out.

Star Trek: Discovery: Season 14

One big hole in my nerddom has been star trek: I've never consumed book, tv show or movie of this universe. Waiting for the continuation of several excellent sci-fi series (The Expanse, Westworld...), I came across the Orville. It started out with a very scatological/childish humor but became better and better such that it is one of my favourite shows in today's tv. Therefore I went to look at the original and watched star trek: discovery. Aside from good production value it has been a very disappointing show with almost no good story and a complete ignorance of the motto "go boldly where no one has gone before". It is one long thrillery story arc with a one-dimensional enemy. I normally love all Brian Fuller things as they meet exactly my humor. But here, there is no humor. Its just metally, bluish darkness. If you want to watch a dark sci-fi series, watch "the expanse", which is just 100x better. If you want to watch something a bit more uplifting, watch the orville. Or even (as I did) go and discover the 30 year old star trek the next generation. Through the superb storytelling in the old ones, they are still very easy to watch and even today better (speaking as a millenial).

The Orville: Season 210

Better than the first season as it has a bit less childish humor. It made me watch star trek for the first time ever (which ended with a big disappointment in discovery and an actually still great and watchable 30 year old the next generation). I find it also one of the few shows out there which mocks today's sjw tv landscape and it has a healthy approach towards PC themes. (compare it to the disaster of star trek discovery)
