Death Road to Canada10

This is the perfect couch coop game. Seriously, you have to play this. It is so fun! It is a survival game, you know... that zombie apocalypse thing, but it's not too dark, gloomy or depressing like all other survival games. This one is silly and fun. Sure, you are serious about making it to Canada and you don't want to be eaten by zombies... but the humor in this game is something special. If you have any sort of sense of humor you will laugh a lot during your journey to the great white north. The music is great, very catchy tunes. They get a little bit more stressful during night time (as it should be) but overall the songs are just upbeat and I like them. You can create custom characters for your friends and family members. You may encounter these characters during your road trips, they will join your group and try to survive with you. It's great fun. You may recruit dogs, cats or other animals to assist you in your deadly trip. Most of the time you will NOT succeed and you will die. When your whole party has been killed it is GAME OVER and you have to start over from the beginning. Personally this is exactly what i enjoy with the roguelike genre. You have to be 100% committed because you know you have just one shot. If you fail, it's too bad, try again! But don't worry because dying in this game may be a little bit frustrating but not that much. It's all about the journey. Crazy stuff happens, your best buddy dies, your main character dies, the dog you recruited earlier becomes the only survivor left... then he drives the car, fight bandits, loot grocery stores and ultimately get killed in an unforgiving siege near the Canadian border. Victory was so close. Dang it! That was awesome anyway, let's try again. It's a unique game that might not be for everyone. If you like a games offering a relatively hard challenge, if you like the concept of perma-death, if you like randomly and procedurally generated content... then by all means stop what you are doing and buy this game.

Wow. Talk about a love infused game. Everything in this game vibrates with charm and personality. It's great to see a game that isn't about skills. Because yeah, this game is for the most part very easy and I love it for exactly this reason. I play **** Valley because, well, it's fun. I don't browse the web to find the most efficient cooking recipes, the most useful crops, the best thing to say to some villager, etc... I don't care! I just want to enjoy myself. I make beer and wine on my farm because it's cool to do, not because it's the most efficient way to become rich. I've created an orchard not because it is the most efficient way to bla bla bla... but because an orchard is awesome and I dearly want one in real life too. I go fishing even if I have enough money already and I don't need more... because fishing in this game is just very fun. Mining feels great too! And I kiss my spouse every morning even if she has all her hearts "maxed out". I don't care because my spouse is a such a sweet pixelated avatar that she deserves a daily hug. You get the idea. I play **** Valley not to "beat it" but to enjoy it for what it is. Highly recommended.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 29

This game is not just for kids! I am a dad in his thirties and I love this game so much. Other FPS are too dark and take themselves too seriously. This one is silly, fun and bright... yet requires skills and has a lot of depth. This is currently my favorite game in my library. Also loved the original Garden Warfare. This one has a lot more content. The solo mode has been improved a lot, but personally I only care about the multiplayer modes. Suburbination being the absolute best (Team vanquish ends too quick and Turf Takeover takes too long) The pace in GW2 is more frantic than the original... it can be frustrating at times as you have no idea what just killed you. Also feels like your health drops faster in this one, if you're not careful you'll be caught in a depressing Die-Revive-Die-Revive cycle. If you are the type of player who get frustrated rapidly, I suggest that you start levelling up your favorite characters in garden ops and hone your skills as a player before going to the unforgiving (but fun!) multiplayer modes. Give it a try!

Wii Party9

This game is extremely underrated! Don't listen to the bad reviews that were probably written by people who don't like the party / minigames genre to begin with. This is the best party game I have ever played. Better than the Mario Party games in my opinion. Game modes are cool, the best being "Swap" and "balance boat". The vast majority of mini-games are fun and original. DON'T PLAY THIS GAME ALONE. This is meant to be a party game. So play with your wife, your kids, your friends and you WILL have fun, that's for sure.

I bought this game after hearing some good things about it. Generally I love retro-style and pixelized games, but the graphics in this one lack any kind of charm... just too rough for my taste. The gameplay is fun and very challenging, which is good. I enjoy playing a few runs of this rogue-like when I don't have enough time to play a longer game. Unfortunately there are some frame rate issues and the game doesn't feel responsive all the time. Overall a decent game a bit too rough around the edges.

Enter the Gungeon8

Very good rogue-like game, but the difficulty is brutal. This game is a lot harder than Risk of Rain or Binding of Isaac. Also, gold is really scarce, don't expect to find it easily. Coop mode is disappointing as the 2nd player can only pick "The mystic" instead of one of the regular characters. Still I often come back to this game because it is fun and well made and I love challenging games.

I bought this game thinking I was going to have a real blast with its 4-players couch-coop mode. The game can even be kid friendly if you turn off blood&gore in the options. Unfortunately, it gets boring fast. Don't go buy it thinking that it will be like Diablo III only with bright and cartoonish graphics or you're up for a major disappointment.. No unlockable skills, no character progression, the combat is repetitive and the loot system is boring and overly simplistic. The game can be enjoyable in short bursts but its lack of depth makes it a forgettable experience.

It's a free game, don't expect to be blown away. Powerups don't stack and are nothing to write about... But it is enjoyable in short bursts, even more so if you have a friend to play with you.

Unique and wonderful couch coop experience. Great family game, totally safe for kids. Unlike many other coop games, Lovers is designed in a way that communication with others is a must. Overall this game is very fun, highly recommended.

Super addicting game, I like it very much. I just think it's very unfortunate that everything is so gross and ugly. Blood, poop, aborted fetuses... well if it's your thing (!!!??) you will be pleased. The same game in a different setting would have been so much better in my opinion. Definitely DON'T let your kids play this game. I was a bit disappointed by the coop mode, as the 2nd player cannot choose his character, cannot pickup items or cash and have less health than first player. Otherwise I have nothing negative to say. The game is very challenging, the rooms are randomly generated, there are plenty of original items, secret rooms, great boss battles, tremendous replayability... and it's just very, very fun.

Risk of Rain9

Probably the best couch coop game I have ever played. This incredibly good game can get very hard but it always remains fair! The items you find through the levels have the possibility to transform your character into a killing machine that will give you a fighting chance against your enemies. Don't be turned off by the difficulty getting harder and harder as time advances. I was sceptical at first but it turns out to be a great game mechanic that will keep you focused and motivated. You cannot take your time, "clear the stage" and find all the items. If you do you're going to get crushed pretty soon. On the other hand, you cannot rush to the teleporter without taking a few items with you. It's all about balance. Look around and find a few items quickly... then find that teleporter! The music in this game is amazingly good and fits the mood perfectly. I would listen to these tracks on their own without playing any game. They're that good. The only problem I can think of is that the levels are not purely randomly generated. There are some variations in each stage and the items are not always located at the same place... but after a few runs you will instinctively know where to find the items and how to explore each level. Though it's not a huge deal as there is still a LOT of replayability with this game. I got this game under $5 on PSPlus... a steal.
