Assassin's Creed Origins6

Until the technical problems and abysmal performance with SLI (negative scaling!) are fixed - steer clear. Also the beginning is pretty bland story-wise. There is no hook but it gets better.

No Man's Sky6

Apart from the technical problems this game desperately needs new content and new gameplay. The art direction is great, procedural generation is great. Everything looks cool but it lacks substance. Yes, it was overhyped, but I spent over 20 relaxing hours in it mining and travelling. It has potential to be something greater. Giving it 0's just because it didn't meet expectations is not fair. Buy it on sale after they put some content in and you will be satisfied.

DOOM9
May 14, 2016
I only played single-player solid gameplay - fast, responsive, brutal. However it is a bit repetitive. Graphics are good, art-style is great, story is virtually non-existent (but who would want to play Doom for the story?). I know it has its flaws and there is nothing ground-breaking but I like it. It seems fresh after all those all-to-real modern CoD clone shooters. For me it's a solid 9. What I don't like is lack of review copies and dubious 10/10 user reviews here from people whose only review is this and like within hours of release.

My Singing Monsters0

I have a problem with "Freemium games", for it to be really freemium playing for free has to be viable. Here it is not - you will rapidly encounter a paywall (getting the fourth singing monster) - you can either start throwing cash at the authors or spend ridiculous amounts of time to progress. I did neither - I deleted the game. In many freemium games you can use ads to earn some virtual cash without spending money. Here the exchange rate makes it virtually impossible. The game is clearly aimed at children - I would not want my kid to be **** me for cash, spending ridiculous amounts of time on that game or constantly watching ads and "opting-in" into various offers. Stay away. It's unplayable without tons of cash.

Godfire: Rise of Prometheus9
Jun 26, 2014
The game has some of the most gorgeous graphics I have ever seen on a mobile device. This is just pure awesomeness. I also like the mix of ancient and futuristic design. As for the game itself - it is similar to a movie summer blockbuster - out there to deliver fun and not much more. As I am a fan of juicy hack'&'slash - this is a game for me. Gameplaywise it is a mix between God of War (mainly due to the the setting) with Dark Souls - with all the gameplay and dying, especially on the higher difficulty levels. Game gives a challenge but beating the hard parts gives you satisfaction. Anybody who was expecting God of War because of the graphics should chill out - mobile devices have its limitations. It has to be playable without the physical controller. Here it is very playable.Although not as fast as GoW. I am also a fan of other game by the same developer - Real Boxing and with all the love and updates that game received I bet it will be the same with Godfire. As for the IAP - they are addition, more like DLC than a necessity. I see nothing wrong with that in a mobile game.

Dear Esther3

irst things first - THIS IS NOT A VIDEO GAME. This is something you may call an "experience". If you you can call an 'experience' holding "W" for an hour and moving around your mouse a bit while listening to some incoherent pretentious semi-random narration. The critics were delighted - 'a game not bound by rules of genres' they said. 'Beautiful narration' they said. If I did not have to pay for it I would be delighted too, unfortunately none of the reviewers or the game website showed us truth about this product. The hour of holding "w" is not worth 7 euros I paid. There is no story in this experience- and the narration is not a true narration - it is a bunch of pretentious aphorisms. There is no interactivity in this experience - there is no true "exploration" - you do not explore the island, you go almost a straight path without any real clues. However, there are stunning visuals in this experience - to be able to get such beauty from the an old video-game engine is surprising. It is a shame that it was wasted on such pretentious piece of an experience. You may say that I am just not getting it - maybe you will be right. But fans of this experience called people not liking it too low-brow to get it. Perhaps I would love to really explore the island (Miasmata style, be able to interact with objects even if just to watch them more closely or just move them about. I would love more story than some random sentences recited in the background

The Banner Saga8
May 26, 2014
Banner Saga - where Heroes of Might and Magic meet Oregon Trail and the Walking Dead. The Walking Dead - the story - we follow a story of a couple of characters which interact with the people they meet - both in the caravan they lead and in places of interest they visit through their journey. Many of the dialog options allow us to act towards people in different ways - sometimes to be mean, sometimes to be happy. This has some bearing on the story (although this does not create such strong an illusion of choice as in TWD). Other than that you may want to read walls of text in map section as that is the only thing the map is good for although to be honest - I would much prefer an alphabetical list of lands beside the map as it is really hard to find our about things. And I do not care very much about flavor text (not after the infinite amounts of audiologs in most modern shooters since f.e.a.r) Oregon Trail - the caravan we lead is like the wagons in Oregon trail - you have to constantly make choices during random events, you have to manage supplies and gold (here known as Renown through which which you can either upgrade your characters that you will use during fights, buy items or supplies). Each of your actions has an impact on the morale as on the number of people in your caravan. HOMM - the tactical part remind me of two last installments of HOMM - the square board to be precise and ability to use unit special moves. Other than that it's mixed with some Magic: The Gathering - your character has two numbers - armor - which weakens damage other unit might do to your unit and strength - representing both hit points and strength (the damage you inflict). This results in some weird gameplay where you have to balance either attacking armor to do damage in future and making actual damage to the HP which in turn make the enemies weaker. It's not easy task even on the lowest difficulty. All of this is given in a vector graphics 2D form which, astonishingly, suffer from low FPS (modern computers still have problem with vector graphics). Overall the graphic style reminds me of old Corel Draw cliparts - which is a good nostalgia building thing I guess. Other than that I like the soundtrack which comprises of some good nordic-style tunes. What the games lack, however, is voice acting - it is non-existent - there ware a few words in the intro and that's it. All the dialogs are mute which is a real shame. Ii is certainly not a 10/10 game - it is not that kind of game. I would say it is a strong 8.

Wolfenstein: The New Order8
May 26, 2014
I did not know that a new Wolfenstein was in the works until about a week before its release. I was not hyped in any way and Wolfenstein was a long forgotten franchise for me, the last release from this franchise I played was RtCW back in 2001. Which was pretty interesting back in the days. I did not have any urge to play it until I heard the song - German version of House of the Rising Sun. I really liked it and wanted to check out more. I really like the idea of alternate history and what would happen after that. I was expecting something more open-world and for a moment it seemed that that was something that they were going for (at least partially with the mini-quests) but perhaps they did not have the time to develop it. Storywise - the game takes place in alternative timeline where **** won the war thanks to some impossible technology. The only person who can stop this is William J Blazkowicz - main protagonist in all games of the series. I think thats really refreshing after all those modern and current warfares of the 2010's I was a bit disappointed as character development was a bit lacking although it was fun to listen to various languages being spoken instead of English with funny accents (mainly German and Polish). The narration is a powerful mix of Inglorious Basterds with Iron Sky and a pinch of Ocean's Eleven. As for the gameplay - it offers a joyride of a modern shooter with scripted events and some oldschool mechanics (you can regain full health only with medpacks) - ridiculous double weapon setups and hordes of enemy soldiers and robots. It is not your typical shooter, although feels more up-to-date than most of oldschool ride like recent renditions of Shadow Warrior or Rise of the Triad. Visually - it is certainly not a next-gen experience. Although I like the smooth look of faces and cinematic cutscenes the visuals seem somewhat lacking - idTech 5 is still a work in progress ridden with problems - low res textures and some heavy texture popping almost all the time (I guess 4 GB of RAM is to small for this engine) amd I do not think that we will see it in many games. What is sure - it certainly has a different feel than all those unreal engine games. What is disturbing - the download is 40 GB - just like Titanfall - and - again like in Titanfall - theres vritually nothing in this game to justify it. I am no developer but I did not see any high quality textures nor did I hear that much variety of sound to justify it. Other than that - the games was a fun ride for 10 hours. I doubt I will replay it though - there is alternative timeline which gives you small changes in layout, there are some collectibles and game modes to unlock, however nothing worthy of repeating it, at least not immediately after. Given the pluses and minuses of the game I had hell of a fun, more than I ever had from single player modes for quite some time. Bioshock was interesting but not that fun. Dishonored was pretty close but again - it was a different kind of game - lacking the pure mindless fun. For me, given its minuses, its a solid 8.
