I don't think I've every been as conflicted playing a game as this. There was maybe one character in this game that wasn't awful and completely unlikable. Buy then end I was just routing for all the characters to die cause they all **** that much. The game play is very simplistic and there's not real strategy to it at all. You can basically just move all your units ahead together and win every fight. The story itself isn't all that great either and the game doesn't look particularly good on switch. I certainly wouldn't pay full price for this as there are so many infinitely better tactical and strategy based JRPGs on switch.

I really wanted to like this game but its got some real issues. The performance of this game is terrible so if thats a big deal for you do not play this. But beyond that the combat is super simplistic and gets real boring real fast. The farming mechanics are fun at the start but your farm expands way faster then you can unlock everything that can speed up your farming so before you know it you waste almost the entire day just farming instead of exploring dungeons. And in terms of the story, its as bare bones as possible and what is there is just bland and unimaginative. I put 35 hours into this game before I just couldn't take it anymore. There are way better farming based JRPGs on switch so just play those.

Theres fun to be had with this game but there is no single player content what so ever so if you aren't buying this to play with other people don't waste your money. Even then, what is in the game on the multi player side certainly isn't worth full price. The control scheme is also overly complicated and the computer AI for the goalies is pretty terrible. If it was over 50% off then maybe its worth a pick up but otherwise play something else.

I was looking forward to this game for a long time cause while I like the pokemon formula it certainly could be shaken up. But this game on switch is unplayable. First off the performance is pretty bad which generally doesn't bother me but there is a glitch where every time a temtem evolves it disconnects from the server and kicks you back to the title screen. When you reconnect your temtem will have evolved, but this happened to me over a dozen times in two hours before I just couldn't take it anymore. Ever single evolution this happened for me. No one should pay money for this until the devs fix it.

I like this game but something about it just never really clicked for me. There are some interesting characters and there's good replay to get all the endings value but nothing about the story really stood out for me and the tactical gameplay isn't anything new or unique either. If you want a tactical game and you've already played everything else on switch then this will certainly scratch that itch, but for me it doesn't hold a candle to fire emblem, langrisser, or tactics ogre reborn.

Dec 7, 2022
For me this is the best bayonetta game of the trilogy. The story actually makes a little bit of sense and the game play is amazing. Fighting as the demons really mixes up the game play and is crazy epic. You also switch between bayonetta and viola who both play pretty different. The skill trees are deeper then every before and the weapons all feel very different from one another. I heard all this talk about performance issues before I played it and I literally never noticed a single issue. Overall I think this game is a bit easier then the previous two, but I only played on the normal difficult so you certainly can make it harder if that's what you prefer. Overall, this is just more bayonetta goodness cranked up to an even more epic notch.

This game takes everything great about this franchise and some how dials it up even further. The story is super epic, the characters are amazing, and the side quests are easily the best of the series. The voice acting is super well done and so is the writing. I never though any game would top XC1 for me, but this game is incredible. The game also starts at a really fast pace so it grabs you quickly, but then never lets up. The environments and monsters look great too. This is an absolute must play for JRPG fans. After 175 hours completing the story and all the side quests, this is easily one of my favorite games of all time.

Dec 7, 2022
I like a lot of the new elements they added to this game like the deeper world exploration, more quests, and free movement in battles instead ****. That said this game is really repetitive and it gets old by the end. There are 5 worlds in total and the quests are basically identical copy and pastes across each world. The gameplay is good, but overall the game is way easier then the first to the point where strategy really doesn't matter anymore. I like the world designs but since you just do the same stuff in each by the end I was just hoping for it to end. Overall its a good game, but it could of been a lot better with a bit more creativity. My other big complaint is that there are some major bugs that prevent you from 100% the game, which otherwise is super easy to do. The only way to correct one of them is to start a new save, play up through the third world again and hope you don't get the glitched quest again. Also the game in general just gets buggier the deeper in you get which seems like it was rushed but they did delay the game to polish it more so theres no excuse for it.

Pokemon Scarlet8
Dec 7, 2022
In my opinion this generation are the best pokemon games every made. They have more story content then ever before. There is actually some character development for pretty much the first time ever in the series. Some of the new pokemon designs are my favorite since the first few generations. Its a true open world where you can walk from one end to the other with no loading screens. And most importantly of all, they are super fun to play. Obviously the big elephant in the room is that the performance is pretty terrible. In my 65 hour play through I never had a crash but the draw distance is really bad, the environmental textures are super low res (but the pokemon textures actually look pretty good, particularly for the steel type pokemon), and if you get in a battle on even a slight incline the camera clips through the ground. If you are a graphics snob you should wait until they patch the performance which Nintendo has already announced is coming (but who knows when). If graphics aren't a big deal to you and you like pokemon then this is a must play.

First and foremost this is a great game. I love the core gameplay of this game. Its classic SMT but better in every way. Spent 80 hrs beating it and getting all the demons and I really enjoyed it. The first half of the story was great but the latter half of the game narratively just wasn't as good. In particular I think all the endings are pretty mediocre. Really looked forward to this game and it delivered on everything I wanted from SMT, I just wish it had a more satisfying conclusion to be the cherry on top.

Objectively, this is a really good kirby game. Tons of content compared to other entries in the franchise. Good new original boss fights. I really like the upgrading abilities mechanic too, but as a long time fan of the franchise something just wasn't there for me. Maybe my tastes in games is just changing, but I loved planet robobot and forgotten land just didn't give me that same sense of fun as past entries. Played a few hours of dark souls 1 but otherwise this was my first souls game and the first one I've beaten. Its worth every penny as i got 110 hours out of it without doing anywhere near everything that you can do in this game. The world is really interesting and fun to explore but I give it an 8 because the narrative isn't great. And no I don't just mean I didn't read all the item descriptions to get the story, I mean that even with that there are still massive plot holes and things that just don't make any sense. In particular I really don't like any of the endings and they are all super short. After such a long time spent with a game I want a satisfying conclusion and this game just doesn't have it. Def worth a try for fans of action rpgs and a more challenging experience.

Really good game. Love the characters and the world. The combat is fun and fluid. Took me 60 hrs to clear the story with doing all the side quests. Def worth the pick up if you like JRPGs or action rpgs. That said, there are times where it just gets too cut scene heavy at the end and it starts to feel like the characters are saying the same thing over and over and it can really drag. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it top to bottom.

I really wanted to love this game. Its art style is beautiful, the sound design is great, but the gameplay just falls so short it hurts. Your ability to do damage is so heavily based on RNG that most fights get drug out way longer then they need to be as you just doge around until you draw a card that lets you finally do some damage. This gets better as you progress through the game and you can just fill your deck with mostly attack cards, but you start the game with 3 cards in your deck that can deal damage and the bad taste that left for me never went away. The story itself is fairly formulaic (go to new area, do a couple fights to obtain item, fight boss, move on) and the ending was so abrupt. For a game that is so heavily based around being like a storybook I really expected more of an epilogue sequence but there is none. Some of the dialogue sequences are really repetitive too and they become annoying to go through as one character will tell you to do the same thing in like three different ways. The voice acting is solid, but in some instances they just make characters grunt which felt really weird, especially if a side quest focused on them. As someone who plays mainly big JRPGs, I almost never skip dialogue in a game, but here I was skipping a lot of side quest dialogue because they just weren't interesting at all. The art style of this game is so great and I really wanted to like it, but it just doesn't work for me at all. Its perfectly playable and some of the worlds are pretty cool, but the meet of the gameplay is just not well executed. The game runs fine on switch, there are some graphical issues and it does have a lot of load screens, although most of them only last 5 to 10 seconds.

I love this game. It deals with some pretty heavy stuff, particularly the first segment of the game was definitely a pretty emotional heavy segment to play through, but with all the dark and depressing tones it carries through to a really beautiful and satisfying ending for me. On the technical side, there were some bugs here and there but nothing that every broke the immersion for my play through. For all the so-so to negative reviews this game got I never expected it to be so good. I'm really glad I tried this and I think it provides a good perspective to keep in mind when dealing with any type of mental illness.

This game isn't bad but its not great either. There isn't much strategy to this game in that very quickly you can make any character into a god tier unit and the enemies wont move until you are in their attack range so you basically control the entirety of every map. There is no leveling system so as you find gems to power up your units on maps and unlock new skills your units get really good and then enemies stay pretty much the same the whole game. The writing is solid but the story as a whole is very shallow. All of the story sequences are really sort you never get really invested into anything that's happening. There are definitely some weird story moments in the beginning where you party does things completely against their beliefs and it doesn't really make any sense, but the story gets better after that, although it was never very engaging for me. My biggest issue was that the music in this game is really bad. There are maybe four tracks total and in many story sequences that are suppose to be dramatic (like enemy ambushes) they just keep playing really calm relaxed music and it ruins the whole moment. This happens in nearly every story mission and by the end of the game it really drove me crazy. All in all if you really need a strategy rpg fix on switch this probably isn't the game, but if its on sale and you want to kill 8-12 hours its not the worst experience.

This is a really good game. Its well written, has good gameplay mechanics, good music, and looks really good. This is definitely a return to form for the series after the mess that was bravely second. The story starts a little slow and drags a little in the first half, but once it picks up it really carries through to the end of the game and gets really interesting and compelling. I really like the characters and their own individual stories throughout the game and how they weave into the overall story arc. There are also some fun little nods to the first game in the way the ending works and I hope they keep playing around with that as the series continues.

I put just under 50 hr in this game and generally enjoyed my time with the game, but the switch version has some serious issues. There are some places where its doesn't look like they just downgraded the textures, but just straight up removed them all together. Its a rough game to look at. Generally that doesn't really matter to be, but when you couple that with the fact that this game crashed on me over 20 times in my play through and it results in a mediocre experience. There isnt anything great about the story or gameplay here anyway so the crashing in the middle of challenges that I then have to redo, or during the final cut scene for example, and it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe Ubisoft will fix it, but for the time being I can't recommend that anyone pick this up.

This is a bad game. It compresses the story into a disjointed mess. The art style is horrific, especially the character model hands which are the stuff of nightmares. Going through emotional scenes with these stone dead faced characters just takes so much out of the game. And on the gameplay side, the entire game is effectively scripted top to bottom, including every "random" encounter. There's really no point to ever play this. I picked it up because I only have a switch and wanted to see the story, but I should of just watched a youtube video of the major cut scenes because that would of been infinitely better. Also, the game is stupidly easy, its impossible to die unless you try to. There were also few times the game got stuck (it didn't freeze but it wouldn't load the next scene) and I would have to quit out and restart the game. We should all just pretend this game doesn't exist.

I have never played an Atelier game but saw this game got good reviews and decided to give it a shot. I am so glad I did. I absolutely love this game, from the characters to the different environments to the gameplay, I love it all. The battle system is very fast paced and most random battles are really quick so it never feels too grindy. The characters are great and have big development arks over the course of the game. The story builds really well and its pretty relaxing to play through, but also still really interesting as you learn more about the history of the world. The crafting system is one of the most addicting gameplay loops I can remember in awhile. This is one of those games where I would sit down to play it and before I knew it 4 hours had flown buy. It was a great experience and it runs really well on switch. If you like JRPGs and you haven't tried this you really should cause it very quickly became one of my all time favorites.

But all in all I really enjoyed it. The gameplay is mainly exploration and then transforming into different animals to traverse the environments which was really fun. I loved this game. I held off on buying it cause of the mixed reviews but for its price, its one of the best turn based RPGs on switch. Its got a great story, an interesting world, and great characters. The Game is written with a lot of sarcasm and sass and its refreshing. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but it hits a lot of high and low emotional notes even with that. The battle system is a classic turn based system, it doesn't reinvent anything, but what it has works well. There is a crafting system for weapons and armor based on collectables you pick up throughout the game to add you your progression. You also have skills that you level up throughout the game for each of your characters. The one problem I have with the game as that there is something a little funky with the movement. It isnt game breaking, but when you try and move small amounts its almost like you're walking on ice. It took be about 23 hours to beat it and all the side quests on normal and I loved every second of it. If you are into story driven RPGs this is a must buy on switch, especially for the price.

I would definitely recommend unlocking them all because they are pretty interesting little stories. I picked up the game for 50% off on the eshop and am very happy with my purchase. I picked this game up because of the good reviews and I think I must be playing a different game. I saw comparisons to wargroove (which I think is great) and this game doesn't hold a candle to wargroove at all. I've played the first 7 or 8 missions of the campaign and the first optional side mission and while there is some solid strategic gameplay here (but certainly nothing special), there is basically no narrative and no character development. The game is just completely bland and doesn't pull you in the play more at all (at least in my case). I love strategic and tactical RPGs, they are my favorite genre of games, and I get this is a smaller budget tittle, but how it has a 77 critic score is beyond me. The graphics on switch are also pretty rough. The game takes awhile to load and just looks bad. Its a budget title so I wouldn't hold this against it normally but its just the final straw that broke that camel's back for me in making me put this game down for good. There are plenty of much better tactical games out there on switch so go play those.

The most impressive thing to me is how well the motion controls work for all the exercises and the built in progression of the game that adds new exercises and will make you mix up your exercises for various side quests. Even if you fall into a rut of doing the same exercises over and over, the game will make you use certain ones to progress through levels so your workout can't get too stale. This is a solid tennis game, but compared to the N64 and gamecube mario tennis games it feels a bit empty. The story mode is very formulaic and repetitive. Its also pretty short. I finished it all in the same day. Their arn't many characters to unlock and the one that are unlockable are timed out over the next four months after the game's release day and you get them by winning online matches. If you don't win enough matches then you just automatically get them the following month so if you buy this game four months after release you will automatically have all the characters to start with. I hate this system as it doesn't really reward you for doing anything in the game. There is no point to ever play a COM tournament, just play online to rack up points to unlock the new characters. Also, the different minigames and things that were in the gamecube game that gave you a little more variety in gameplay arn't back for this game. Its just your standard tournaments either with the computer AI or online. Thats really the whole game and for a full $60 I'm disappointed. The tennis is good, but honestly I wouldn't pay full price for this game again knowing what I know now. Wait for it to go on sale or buy it used. And if you wait a few months they will just give you all the characters in an update.

There is hardly any character development at all so you never get invested in whats happening and when they finally try to start throwing some background in halfway through it comes out of no where. This game is like a solid outline for what could of been a good game. The story is there and their are some nice twists along the way, but they spent no time in exploring the characters so a lot of the game is just really boring. On top of that the writing is pretty bad too. Compared to I am Setuna, its spiritual predecessor, this game is worse in most every way. There are some nice tweaks to the battle system and the dungeons have a more varied design, but this doesn't make up for all its other short comings. There was no need for this game to be so rushed and it could of been a really good game if they had just taken the time to do it right. If you really want a more old school style JRPG this will do, but there are so many better games on the Switch that its really not worth picking up.
