Haven’t played since 2012. It looks better but many of the same issues are there. I recommend buying it on sale... The cons...Lame pep talks, failed shot attempts, generating tons of chances but never finishing, lengthy bouts of poor form all linked to a mysterious tactic deficiency or poor morale. Lower league finances are tremendously messed up with the salary expectations, poor scouting and lack of flexibility.

Lower Leagues seem to be broken. I played as AFC Fylde and couldn't even afford to field a decent squad in year 2 due to wage demands. First year salaries averaged around $550 a week with all contracts expiring after one year. Average backups wanted $800-$1400 per week for new contracts and all of my current roster wanted double their first year salary if they re-signed. How are you supposed to play a game when the board increases wages by 10% but players all want 100% more to play? Also, what no-name conference players without bonuses suddenly demand contract bonuses similar in terms found in the upper leagues? Poorly executed formatting in terms of finances for lower leagues...

Very disappointing. This game had the potential to be a great game but they stopped short. The AI is about as dumb as it gets. The developers may know how to code but they are severely lacking at understanding the importance of time management, efficiency and resource management when it comes to a city building game. Simple things like providing food becomes a logistical nightmare and never ending click fest. The interface is terrible and requires that you constantly verify your building levels otherwise you waste time and resources. Mehhhh......

Since I'll be getting CoH 2 soon I thought I better step back in time and finish the Opposing Fronts expansion which I put off for some reason. The campaigns are split in two so it is about the same length as the first game but it just feels shorter. The campaigns seem a bit forced and rushed while lacking any depth. Relic reused maps within the campaigns instead of creating new and interesting territory to fight for. The gameplay is similar but the challenges are too simplistic; defend here, destroy a bridge, set up a roadblock. Someone else mentioned it below but the AI artillery is automatic and deadly in this game and designed to be a hindrance to the point of frustration. Another bad design option was the use of sequenced timed missions which can be triggered by capturing points along the map so you'll be in the middle of completing an objective and suddenly be on the timer for the main mission. It's a fun game if you like RTS but not as good as the original.

It's fun on the first play through and than the faults come glaringly to the forefront. If you like sports/business related sims you'll enjoy it. Leading a team from the depths of the standings to the pinnacle of success can be rewarding. Unfortunately it's the little things that take away from this game. The frequency rate of injuries is too high and can destroy your season in short order. Too many yellow cards, first and last minute goals etc. They purposely try to script dramatic ups and downs for the team's consistency in order to add drama. One wrong sentence can demoralize an entire team resulting in a lost match. Continuous/repetitive press conferences take a lot away from the game. I could go on...

A decent little platformer. The gameplay actually reminds me a lot of Trine although the setting couldn't be more different. It has a good story and some great voice acting. The length of the game is a bit short but in line with the price so you still get good value out of the game. Unlike another reviewer my chief complaint is the control system. Sometimes you have to perform actions with 3-4 keys at the same time and it gets too be a bit much on a keyboard. I tried playing it with an XBOX 360 controller and found the pre-configured settings to be extremely clumsy and the accuracy was a bit sloppy. The latest patch allows you to reconfigure controller settings so that helps a bit.

It's a unique game that is good for all ages with a lot of wry humor that doesn't go past the limit of good taste. It's not perfect as the combat is very linear and repetitive and doesn't offer much of a challenge until the very end. I didn't find it to be too short as it took me about six to seven hours to complete the quests and collect all the cards. It's a great game if you need a break from more serious games or are short on time and just want something light that you can pick up on a whim and play for a bit.

Slightly disappointed but overall it's a good game. The graphics are excellent and the gameplay is true to it's predecessor's form. Somewhere along the way they forgot that part of what made the series so successful in the past was the allure of history and meeting the needs of your people. Instead they chose to focus on the industrial/environmental arenas and while that is not too bad of an idea it leaves you feeling a bit detached from any sense of connection with the population in general. Everything seems a bit rushed and hectic with bells going off, indicators flashing, message tabs etc and you feel pressured to constantly advance technology. Still a worthy game if you like city builders entwined with a bit of rts and economic management but it's not as fun as some of the previous installments.

This game is addictive. It has a bit of of everything rolled into it. Simulation, RTS, Econ trader etc... If you like games similar to "The Patrician series", The Settlers, Dawn of Discovery and other games with classical settings you can't go wrong with this choice. It still has some bugs and I recommend going to Runeforge's website and getting the latest beta patch for it; it will help. Renaissance can be a bit slow paced for the modern gamer and it has a lot of balance issues among the classes. Rogues and scholars being the easiest groups to succeed with. A steep learning curve will put a lot of people off but it isn't really a hard game as much as there is just too little information on the net or in game to help you along. The maps aren't the best as they are small and poorly designed and most of the mods died with the Jowood forums when they tanked. If you can find it in the $5-7 range it's worth a look.

It's not as bad as some of the reviews but I wouldn't call it a success. My biggest gripes are the camera and scrolling speed, the graphics seem to make it look more artificial and all the pop-ups and pace of the game have become a nuisance rather than being fun. The ability to import goods makes the game a lot easier than T3. This should probably be the last one in the series as it has burned itself out.

It's a fun game - I logged about 70 hours or so. The crafting, item grind and building of homes is really the addictive part of the game. Like every other game it gets tedious after a while. The low-level mobs spawn too frequently and are more annoying than challenging. Their combat tactics are about 80% bump and collide for damage and 20% of them lob projectiles of some sort which is very limited and repetitive for a modern game. You'll find yourself thrilled at first and soon be asking yourself when will it end... A good value if you get it at the $5 sale point on steam.

Not an awful game by any means. The concept is great and the developers did an exceptional job creating a vast and expansive universe. Combat can be fun if you can figure out what weapons you need in order to fight different opponents and find them somewhere that actually has them in stock. This leads me to the biggest problems with this game. The interface and menu screens, and the amount of micro managing you have to do. Everything you need in the game is always manufactured 5-10 sectors away and they are usually out of stock after you spend 10-15 minutes of research and travel just to get there. Do you have a small carrier with a few fighters ready to engage in battle? Guess what? Each ship requires different weapons that have to be bought at different locations that never have any in stock. You'll be banging your head against a wall after a while. I'm sure it gets better once you get factories set up and can manufacture your own goods but getting to that point is a monumental task if you have a life away from your computer.

Even nearly 8 years after it's debut it still stands up as one of the most addictive and elaborate economic trading sims ever made. The economy is dialed in and the trading aspect is complex enough to keep you on your toes. The graphics have aged the sea battles are beyond lame and yet it beats out modern games in this genres by miles.

Total waste of time. Admittedly I am new to total war games and the learning curve was quite large for me. So large that what is supposed to be fun simply wasn't. The campaigns are hard, the battles difficult to grasp and the complexity of the whole enchilada made it hard to swallow. I started with the Road to Independence campaign and by the start of the 3rd chapter I was overwhelmed. I had one army and one city and was surrounded by 5-6 armies - all the neutral factions declared war on me as well the British and after 5-6 failed attempts to get established I just deleted the whole thing from my computer - sigh...

They committed the Cardinal sin of video game development and one that is becoming far too commonplace in the gaming industry. They simply tried to do too much and in doing so they did nothing exceptionally well. This has become prevalent in business sims and city building games released over the past 4-5 years if not longer.

This game is better than average and provides many more hours of entertainment than the standard FPS. Pros: Polished game play compared to S.O.C. Once you get it setup properly there are very few if any bugs. Plenty of side missions that provide good rewards. Decent combat and tactical missions but much less of it than in S.O.C. Cons: The Armor: You have three choices for the first 50% to 60% of the game; crappy armor, slightly better than crappy or the best armor in the game. This could have been balanced out with more options. The Zone can get kind of monotonous after a while. There is a lot of empty space on the map - it may seem large but exploring does not have much of a payoff other than medical supplies and lower to mid- tier weapons for the most part. The weapon grades for resale - it **** picking up a weapon and not being able to get anything for it unless you repair it to 100% and than only make 10% off the deal. Overall it was worth the money I paid for it and all of the cons can be fixed with mods if you are inclines. I actually gave it a 7.5 but rounded it up for prosperity.

I was a big fan of the first game but this expansion leaves a bit to be desired. The A.I. pathfinding is awful, you lose about 25% of your men because they run right out in front of machine gun nests, fail to toss grenades over walls etc... There are very few opportunities to capture enemy vehicles, not that it really matters because the enemy hit ratio on your tanks is like 5 to 1. Lots of bugs, freeze ups and the like. Some missions are cool but you make it to the end with a few guys only to find out you have to defend against a tank attack or knock out artillery. Every machine gun nest is backed up by a flanking nest or sub machine gunners. The challenge that was maddeningly addictive in the first MoW has now become ridiculous.
