Star Wars Outlaws is a hidden gem, and it’s painful to say that because it deserves far more attention and love. At launch, it was hurt by performance issues, along with the Disney and Star Wars reputation being at an all-time low—not to mention Ubisoft hasn’t had the strongest track record in recent years. All of that contributed to weak word of mouth, and I’ll be honest—it affected me **** now that I’ve finally sat down and properly played it, I’m genuinely ecstatic. This might be my favourite Star Wars game—and that’s coming from someone who’s a massive aficionado of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Those games lean heavily into combat; I’ve always been more of a stealth player, and this game fully embraces that. It lets you outsmart enemies rather than overpower **** best way I can describe Star Wars Outlaws is that it’s Cyberpunk 2077 in the Star Wars universe—same sense of freedom, adventure, and constant discovery. Everywhere I turn, there’s something new: an encounter, an opportunity, a detail. There’s so much care put into this game, and it deserves far more recognition than it got.I had a small moment where I came across someone cooking a meal, and I was feeding Nix—my little companion—through an interactive sequence. That didn’t need to be anything more than a simple cutscene, but instead it became a full interaction. That level of care keeps showing up again and **** of my biggest issues with Hogwarts Legacy—despite loving that IP—was how empty it could feel. You’d enter a cave, open a chest, and that was it. Here, a cave becomes a sequence: climbing, swinging, slicing, decoding—until you finally reach something meaningful. It feels earned. The game genuinely rewards exploration.I should say, I’m still early on—I’m only on Toshara—and I’m taking my time, building reputation with the syndicates like the Pyke Syndicate, Hutt Cartel, and Crimson Dawn. That system is fantastic, and honestly, it’s something even Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t fully deliver on. Here, your choices feel like they matter—and that feeling is what really counts.I haven’t even properly explored space yet or travelled to other planets, though I’ve had a taste of it in the demo—so I know there’s still a lot ahead. And credit where it’s due: offering a demo was a smart move. More games need to bring that back. It clearly worked, because it won them a player—and someone who’s now fully behind this game.I highly recommend Star Wars Outlaws if you enjoy adventure and exploration, or if you’re a Star Wars fan. If you’re both, you’ll absolutely get lost in **** one last thing—I really appreciate that this is a story about outlaws. Not Jedi. Not the Empire. It’s smaller-scale, more grounded—very reminiscent of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which is my favourite piece of Star Wars media. This game captures that tone perfectly: scoundrels, cantinas, getting lost in the ****’re Han Solo—not Luke Skywalker—and that’s a very refreshing feeling.

After completing the game, I can say without any shadow of a doubt that it is one of, if not THE WORST GAME IVE EVER PLAYED. As a writer, it’s incomprehensible to me how this game made it past writers, editors, producers, beta testers and every other level of quality control. As someone who cares deeply about some of the subjects pushed in the game and who is personally affected by them, I find this game to be quite possibly the worst representation of certain subjects. This game’s obsession with said subjects is counter productive in delivering them, making them preachy and at the same superficial. The writing accompanying these themes is void of any depth and sophistication. There is no subtext, everything is annoyingly explained to the gamer in a condescending manner. These elements to me are enough and often enough to render this game unplayable. Still, I finished it because I wanted to give the game the benefit of the doubt and now that I have, I’m afraid I can’t in good conscience recommend this to anyone.

What started as a huge disappointment on release day, has turned into pride in being able to say this may just be gaming history’s best comeback yet! This is one of the, if not the most immersive world I’ve ever been in (except real life obviously)! What makes it so compelling is the lore, the size, the liveliness of it all. On top of that, it says some really deep philosophical things about our society and about the human soul. The world depicted is nauseously colourful, and I mean that well; it reiterates what the game is trying to say.I’ve never seen such a vast AND busy openworld. When at launch the game would crash constantly,I was disappointed but I figured it made sense. I thought to myself “this was never going to work”. But to see it now functioning so well with all the activity going on everywhere, it truly is an astonishing accomplishment for open world games.I look forward to the future of this franchise alongside the Witcher!

The game nears perfection. There are minor issues here and there such as light or phasing glitches that I’m sure will be tended to in the next patches. Otherwise I must say, this game is a Harry Potter fan wet dream. It was clearly created by people who understand and love the wizarding lore. The gender neutrality is very silly and completely unnecessary. I would specifically rate this game an 9.5 until it’s optimised. Very well done!
