I'll just list the pros and cons of this game. My real score would be a 7 out of 10 but I gave it an 8 to offset the people that gave it a 0 just because of graphics. In summary, this game shows great potential for a sequel, much like the first Assassin's Creed. If you're not sure; rent, buy used, or just wait for a price drop. Pros: -The side missions are fun, especially the Sound Trip missions. I really like the gang hideouts as well. -For the most part, the game gives you the option to kill, knock out, or altogether avoid the enemies during missions. - The shooting mechanics are fairly tight and it has one of the best cover mechanics I've seen in any open world game, GTA could take some notes here. -The character models on secondary characters are really good. -The city is fun to explore and the visuals are overall really nice, especially when it rains. Cons: - The story is extremely boring, poorly paced, and forgettable. - The main character, Aiden Pearce, is not someone the player can relate to or even support. - The driving is terrible (though I've gotten used to it and can maintain control in almost any situation) especially surprising given that the guys from the Driver series cam in to help. Driving can be bad in some games, but almost every car in this game handles like the beaters from GTA4. - Random difficulty spikes, sometimes the AI can't hit the broad side of a barn, other times they have pinpoint accuracy with a pistol from afar. Yes, the game doesn't look like it's initial E3 trailer, but we have to remember that Ubisoft didn't know the final specs of the new consoles. I'm not saying we should let it slide, but don't pass on a decent game just for graphics. I initially wrote this game off, but I'm glad I gave it a try.

A surprisingly fun game. Overall, I like the game's puzzle mechanics and its light-hearted nature. I'm all for "hardcore" games, but I enjoy diversions like Max from time to time. It's about average in terms of length for a downloadable game, roughly 4-5 hours from start to finish if you just want to beat it. The game isn't particularly hard as it's very generous with checkpoints and you're not punished for dying. The replay value kicks in when you try to collect all Eyes and Medallion pieces. There are also multiple achievements for beating levels without dying which make the game considerably harder and slow down the pace as you have to make sure that everything is set before you make your move. My biggest issue with the game is the inconsistent frame rate, especially considering the games visual. It's not an ugly game by any measure, it just doesn't look like something that should have frame rate hiccups and some screen tearing on new hardware that can handle games like Ryse and Forza 5 without any problems. The platforming is also a little loose for my taste, which when combined with the frame rate hiccups, can lead to some frustrating deaths when going for those No Death achievements. I would definitely recommend giving the game a try, regardless of your age, especially since it's free for the month of July (it was also free in June).
