The strategy based spinoff of Dynasty Warriors. It's a lot of fun if you enjoy the Dynasty Warriors formula. I do, so I had a blast. Sadly, this isn't quite as good as 7 Empires in my opinion. I miss some of the strategems in 7, I miss the political stats you could achieve rather than it just being good or bad, I miss a lot of things. That being said, this is still a great game. I'd personally get 7 Empires over it, but this one is available on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Vita, so it has a huge plus in that respect. If you enjoy the series, it's worth your time. If you don't enjoy the series, it isn't.

What a letdown. Making Dynasty Warriors open world is a decent idea. Until you realize it's just there to artificially extend game time by making you run around. But hey, as long as it's the same gameplay loop it shou- nope nope no no no. The gameplay loop has been worsened this time around. Attacks don't feel like they actually hit anything, walls which used to be difficult to get past in the previous games can now be circumvented by using the grappling hook, and, worst of all, they removed many fan favorite weapons. But, they not only removed the fan favorite weapons, they also sold them back to us as DLC. It's ridiculous and scummy of them. Especially when the weapons unlocked now have a limited moveset thanks to the weapon no longer being the character's main weapon any more. The story mode is lazy and boring. Any amount of interesting cutscenes you'd see in the other games is completely removed and instead just shows a character that walks on screen, says something, and another character moves. Rinse and repeat. There are a handful of interesting cutscenes, but they are few and far between. The only good thing I can say about this game is that it looks real nice, for a Dynasty Warriors game. It looks pretty average compared to many other big name games. In fact, I kinda prefer the look of the older games. Yeah, they look dated but they have a fun style. I'd stay away from this one. If you want a better Dynasty Warriors experience, go with 8 Xtreme Legends or 8 Empires.

It's more Dynasty Warriors. That's about all that can be said. A power trip taking place in ancient China during the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Fight through literal thousands of faceless mooks are you charge your way to the enemy commander and beat the snot out of them as well. I'm generalizing, but you get my gist. If you tried out any of the other Musou games and didn't like them, unless you tried out 9 first, then you probably won't like this. If you did enjoy any of the previous games, then this will probably be a blast with the same gameplay loop you're used too. Personally, it's a 10 from me, but I'm also biased in favor of the series. If you have been wanting to try out the series, I'd recommend this one.

The graphics, sound, and voice acting are superb, however, the game falls flat in the story department. The story is bland at best and dreadful at worst. The gameplay is largely the same as the original, so it's fine, just not something incredible. I found it disappointing and not worth the 60 bucks. If you wanna try it, I'd recommend either getting it used or waiting a year for the price to drop. I'd say it's worth around 40 bucks. For that price or less, it's a fine enough game.

Shame that this game gets so little attention. I'd definitely consider it a hidden gem on the Wii. It's simple fun as you romp through levels eating everything in sight. There's collectibles in the form of acorns that unlock customization items, which are a neat addition, though they can easily be ignored if you aren't interested in the cosmetics. If you are thinking about picking this game up, I'd recommend it. It's not gonna be difficult nor is it gonna have a deep and enriching story, but the simple fun of the game is worth it in my personal opinion.
