Probably the most difficult game I’ve ever played, waste of money if you hate a game without an easy mode.

L.A. Noire

LA Noire is a great title to pick up if you’re a fan of the Noire genre and a fan of attention to detail and good stories. Seeing it on the switch is a half and half situation. Having it on a mobile console like this, the game has to sacrifice graphics and frame rate, so be prepared to see the game be slow at some times and even a bit disgusting graphics wise. However, it still doesn’t take away the features from the gameplay and story itself. If you’re a hardcore LA Noire fan or a Detective fan, it’s a good thing to pick up on the switch. I wouldn’t really recommend it for any regular gamer as it’s gameplay style can be boring to some and even a bit repetitive.

I think this game is much more underrated than everyone makes it out to be. However, I just don’t think it’s as good as some of the other spongebob games out there. It’s story is the main selling point for me, I just love the originality and wackiness of it. However, some times I feel like it could’ve been executed a bit better with some more characters instead of only 3 to play as. The racing system towards the end of the game and the earlier parts are just weird for me where you still win even if your opponent laps you. There’s also a time limit on the races which resets when you hit a checkpoint which is also just odd. Other than these small issues, the gameplay itself is creative with its enemies. However sometimes it can get a bit repetitive. Overall, it’s a fun game that is a classic, however I wouldn’t play it in one sitting as it can get repetitive on certain levels, especially during the plankton segments.

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs

I’m going to be completely honest when I say this: SOCOM is kind of hit or miss when it comes down to the bottom of the barrel. SOCOM was a game that I grew up with as a child and still play today. However, it does have a few issues that might take away the fun for some people. If you’re a person who loves a great story in video games, then you might want to reconsider picking this one up for the story value. Story wise this game lacks behind with no true direction which sometimes left me confused on what’s going on. Gameplay wise; This game is innovative for the time but may also be a hit or miss with most players. There’s no checkpoint system at all which leaves the harder missions even more difficult. However these issues don’t take away from the realism this game provides. The guns, the sounds, the commands, and even the fact you can die in a few shots are all apart of the realism which just shows you how much the developers put into this game even for 2002 standards! Overall, If you’re the type of person that is into the Military or is even curious about it, I’d recommend it. For the person who is stingy about stories and other small details, you might want to set your expectations a bit lower. Also allow me to warn you that Sony pulled the plug on Mulitplayer capabilities unless you install mods and other things on a PC.

NCAA Football 2004

Even though the graphics aren’t on par with the advanced graphics nowadays, NCAA 2004 makes up for it with its fluent and satisfying gameplay. The controls take some time to get used to, however once you do get used to them you’ll immediately be hooked. The Create a Team feature is even more fun to play around with if you’re as creative as I am with the College Football world or even sports in general. Despite running on older hardware, the animations and feeling of when you tackle someone is something that continues to have me in shock and awe. It feels so fluent when you tackle or pull someone down as if the game expects you to do it before the snap! For both the casual gamer and the hardcore sports fan alike, this is a must buy.
