Echoes of the End9

Very solid for an AA title. There is a nice balance of world building through the story and collectibles without needing unnecessary bloat. Biggest complaint is how quickly it ends after the final boss. Could use an epilogue.

Is it wildly derivative of a specific Valley game with a touch of animal crossing? 100%. Is it still a fun, cute, cozy game? Also 100%

The story and pacing are great. The game mechanics are fun, and the animation and soundtrack vibe perfectly.

It’s so ridiculously mid, it’s depressing. The new combat mechanics are fun, the character customization is nice, but the story and world are both mediocre. The entire map for this game, would likely fit within one or two of the areas found in Arceus, and there isn’t any variety across the map.

This game is fantastic. The soundtrack is great- both in and out of the musical levels, and the levels themselves are a blast.

The Story is fun and interactive with a handful of different endings. Combat is engaging and most missions have a variety of ways to approach them. That being said, the story is short (even when you don’t go with the first ending available) and character storylines feel even shorter.

Stories were kind of meh, gameplay gets pretty repetitive, and the game itself was all kinds of buggy.

It’s definitely weird but anyone going off on how the story is “too far out there” need only hang out in rural America for a bit. I say this as a rural American. It’s fun, weird, and just the right amount of play time for my liking.

Played this when it first came out (this makes me feel old), and I thought it was the coolest game ever. 25 years later, I would say the story is somewhat predictable and the dialogue a little cringey for 2024, but it’s still a fun romp.

The first hour or so is slow, but that’s pretty standard for a Square Enix game. Once I actually got into the world of Athia, things started to develop and I started to really enjoy the story itself. The combat mechanics and the parkour are really fun though a bit challenging until you get the hang of it. The world is beautiful, the characters delightful, and there’s cats which is always a delight.
