The game is really badly balanced making it even easier than any other Pokemon game and most of them where already too easy. I don’t understand why they ignore players and again did not implement the possibility to change difficulty or even built in some Nuzlocke settings. Besides that even after the first patch the game is still buggy, foremost in the graphics department. Talking about graphics, Pokemon and characters look good but most of the rest look at best mediocre. Landscape textures are sometimes extremely blurry and ugly. This game is overall the worst looking Pokemon game of all time at its time and I played them all! And don‘t get me startet with the story, it‘s as atrocious as it can get. It‘s the first time in a Pokemon game that I skip dialogues! Really unfortunate.

Update January 2022: Most issues are solved. The game is now good to play and a lot of fun. Old: In a nutshell the control scheme is rubbish, the performance lacks and the path-finding ai does weird things. UPDATE 25 March 2021 - Patch 1.4: Unfortunately the promised changes to the control scheme were not implemented with patch 1.4. The performance issues weren’t fixed either. Original Review: Overall the most dissatisfying and problematic about the Switch version of Battle Brothers is the control scheme. Other than that I experienced performance issues when zooming out on the world map and occasionally had bad pathfinding ai leading to my party leaving the streets by them self's and for no reason wander off into the wilds what leads to babysitting every step of their movement. The game still is fun to play but the issues described do drag the overall fun down significantly! Following more details about the control scheme issues: ============================================================== Following a list of the controls I have the most pressing issues with and what the issues are. The higher up the issue is listed the higher is the priority: 1. Left right keys on D-Pad selecting attacks in battle - The first click on whatever of the two buttons will not select the first attack but the second or last attack but should select the first attack. - After selecting an attack the mouse cursor stays on the attack button but should stay where it was when the user pressed the D-Pad button. The way it is now the player has constantly to move the cursor back to where the opponents pawns are to issue the attack. This way is very tedious on the Switch because mouse control simulation in general is rather clunky! - In general the D-Pad Buttons are not suited very well for controls you need as often as the ones for selecting the attack. Better suited would be the shoulder buttons L & R for example. 2. Left Stick press to activate/deactivate the tooltips - This button is uncomfortable to press if you need it often and one does so in Battle Brothers on the Nintendo Switch because screen estate is so small that if you have the tooltips enabled they often make the overview especially in battle rather difficult. Therefore I tend to activate them only for a second when hovering over something I need more detailed information about. A better suited button for this would for example be the left trigger. And best would be if the tooltip would then only be shown as long as the button is pressed. 3. Controls in recruitment dialog - After selecting a possible recruit on the left and then selecting anything on the right one can't easily switch back to the character on the left which results in a lot of scrolling and switching and scrolling. Making recruitment very tedious. Besides that I realized a small and purely aesthetic issue when having the party screen open. The heads of the statues on the left and right of the dialog box have their heads cut off.

A great game that get's dragged down by a few sloppy development decisions. If these shortcomings get ironed out I would give the game 9 to 10 out of 10 points. 1. Community mods do not work reliably and are therefore useless I had a simple equipment mod downloaded and activated via the ingame mod browser. I bought the piece in game in the garage and fitted it to one of my trucks. It worked nice until when the next day I played the game the equipment was gone and with it my money for it. In game the piece of equipment was still available in the store but it looked like I never had bought it. This is extremely bad because imagine your whole fleet of vehicles were modded ones and you bought them with your limited money and the next day they would all be gone!? You literally would have to start over with the game! Imagine further you would at this point have played for about 100, 200 or even 300 hours, all gone! Therefore mods are as of now for me not usable. 2. Control scheme is in part horrible and not freely customisable There are 4 predefined control schemes but unfortunately all of them are flawed and you can't customise them. For example in one of them the "handbrake" and the "winch release" are on the same button. So if you have the handbrake on and use the winch, as soon as you want to release the handbrake the winch will also get detached! If the controls were freely customisable one could at least correct such short comings but as of now you have to life with rubbish like this. 3. Immersion breakers Every fuel station, production site and quest location has some huge running yellow and/or red dotted frames on the ground. Further the borders of the areas of the maps in the game that surround the usable terrain and that you can't cross with your vehicles are bordered by huge running stop signs that hover over the earth. It all looks really ugly and immersion breaking! And there is unfortunately no way to at least disable these. I at least don't need them.

Don’t get me wrong the game is fun but has some issues you have to overcome. Biggest issue = One island per Switch Second biggest issue = Different Villagers having the same dialogue Other than that the user interface is testing your patience. For example, if you have a stack of say 40 weeds and you would like to take 20 to sell them you have to separate one by one until you have 20 additional single weeds in your inventory and after that you have to put them together to a 20 piece stack. Letting you click at least 60 times to do that. There are plenty of other such instances. It is just Ridiculous!

No connection to Pokemon Home. 50 or 60 bucks for this? Sorry at best 25, more it’s not worth and this only for people who want a trip back memory lane! It’s a rip off! Shame on you Nintendo.

This game is by my mind highly overrated because of it’s very bad game design. Following a list of what I disliked the most: - E.g. the story tells you the time is pressing because the next day something really bad will happen. Next thing you‘ve been told is that to solve this you have to go on some quests that will take several in game days. - Some story elements come over as fabricated like this: You need that extremely rare item and the party is standing in the middle of the town and guess what an unknown NPC comes over to you asking you for help and in return you will get that extremely rare item. - You get led by the nose to every quest giver and it‘s solution - The world is cluttered with icons showing you the way to everything that is important - There is an extra store for every little type of equipment so you have tons of stores in every city and their big icons are cluttering the scenery - Convoluted battle system - Extremely high level monsters roaming the world killing your party with one hit. E.g.: My party was around level 8 and in front of them they have open savanna where wildlife around the same level is strolling around. Some are up to level 18 so the party had to run through the land in a zigzag course not to walk into one of these level 18ish monsters. When the party stopped for a sec they got hit by an unseen foe and all got killed by this one hit. Luckily I had saved a few seconds before that and when I loaded the game and looked around to find what killed my party I found a level 81 monster roaming the world in high speed. - Bad tutorials leaving you with questions you can only solve by searching the www

This is a trade simulation and therefore it should be easy to setup a trade route that has the potential to make me some cash. Unfortunately the system at hand is almost as bad as it can get. To setup a trade route you have to take a sheet of paper with a map of the game-world on it and then check every city in the game one by one to see if they pay good money for the wares you have for sale and after that mark these cities on your sheet of paper with the map on it. You do this for all wares you have to sell and afterwards will be able to setup the trade route with the help of your notes. Unbelievable!

It is now the year 2020 and they still didn‘t fix the save game bug which will destroy the only save game you have! Besides that the game is just bad. I do not understand where all the good reviews are coming from. The story is bloated, the characters are flat and the pacing is extremely slow. The worst was that after 12 hour of playing I had reached one of the endings in the game where I was presented with a notebook screen on which I should enter an ID and a password. However there was absolutely no clue to what these might be. When I exited the screen I was presented with the message „..... to be continued“ and the game was over. After that I searched the internet to find out that you have to play other possible endings in the game to find the ID and the password! This is game design at it‘s worst!

There is one bad thing that stands out and that is the handheld support. A lot of texts are far too small to be read comfortably. Further the tutorial is lacking and the in game documentation too. The learning curve at least for newcomers will therefore be relatively high. Other than that it is a very nice game so far. Currently around 15 hours in. The characters have a lot of personality and the longer the game goes on the more you are going to care about them. The things you can do between battle missions by exploring the monastery, talking to people, catch fish, grow plants and so on are a welcoming change. The strategic part of the game is demanding if you play the game on the hard difficulty. I chose to play in classic mode which means that if someone in battle dies he will be dead for good. However because you have a time turner to your availability that lets you go back up to 3 turns this is not such a big challenge. Up until now I haven‘t lost anyone. If they would make the texts better readable in handheld mode I would give the game a 9 out of 10.

A game is foremost supposed to be fun and that is where Minecraft Dungeons fails the most it is just not fun from the second half on. It is difficult to put your finger onto the reasons. I guess it is a combination of the fighting not beeing fluid, the weird skill system, if one can call it that and bad balancing. Other than that for a long time Diablo and Path of Exile player like me this game just not has what it would need to satisfy my need for hunting better gear and min-maxing my character. However, I still could live with that if the game just would be fun!

Its all fake! Everything in this game is predetermined! I can prove it to you. At the start of a battle remember your cards. Force quit the game and reload it. The next draw will always be the same which could never occur if the cards were drawn randomly. So unfortunately its all fake! I feel ripped. I expect a card game to be random. By that I mean that cards should be drawn randomly. Not in this game, you either get cards drawn preselected by the developers or their random card drawer is extremely bad implemented. I had a deck of 50 cards and one of the cards I had five times in the deck. Next draw I get 4 of those 5 cards onto my hand! Do you know how low the odds are for that to happen?! And this did not happen only once, it happens all the time. After this the game became unplayable for me.

Just a fantastic turn based tactics gem this game is. One of the few today that still challenge the player and are fair. Love it! The only thing that should be expanded is the event-system. I would like to see more complex events that last longer than just one dialogue and I would like to see more of them. Ok there is one other thing, the graphics, they are nothing to call home about but they do their job and have a certain charme. However, I would love to see more of the graphics that are shown on the loading screens, in game, they stimulate my imagination quite well. And one last thing, please open the game up for easy moddabilty! What is it you are fearing? From experience with other games I know It would help expand the game in ways you alone would never be able to achieve and therefore create a much bigger audience for it and on the other hand expand and prolonge the experience for the players who love your game. Expanding the game for easy moddability I'm sure would create a win win situation.

Most important: UNITS DO NOT GAIN EXPERIENCE!!! And they don't level up. Something even Advance Wars had. The two are therefore not really comparable! The game is relatively shallow. It is more like a puzzle game. There is just not much room for strategy or tactics being the battles and maps are of a rather small scope and you do not have a lot of options with your units. Second the AI is dump as bread. The game still has some appeal but it's for sure no game you want to play for hours on end. It's a game I would advice to pick up when it is on sale for no more than 8€. Single-Player Score 0/10: If I would had to pay only 8€ for it I would give the game a score of 6/10 but because of the asking price of 16€ I can not advise anyone to buy it if you are only interested in the single player portion of the game. Therefore I give it a single player score of 0/10. If there were unit experience implemented I would give this portion of the game a 6/10. Multiplayer Score 6/10: The multiplayer experience is a bit better because you do at least have a human AI to cope with. Nevertheless the missing units gaining experience thing pulls down the fun with this too. If there were unit experience implemented I would give this portion of the game a 8/10. My overall score therefore is a 3/10.

The worst is the menue system where you have to click up to 16 times to reach specific functions. Next comes the difficulty that is not existant except for a few unfair battles where I even encountered a trainer that had a Pokemon that was not legitimate (a level 26 Diglett that knows the move Fissure)! Why is there still no options to setup the difficulty as I like it? They could for example have listened to the Pokemon fanbase and build in options for Nuzlock runs where one even could configure the details of it. Instead we get a boiled down version that is even more basic than the original Pokemon Yellow. This was a waste of money.
