When I first got my original Xbox this was one of the first games I ever got. And as a ten year old boy who loved the character I was very happy when I played it, I think its a fine platformer for kids only. Playing it again when I was older made me realize that the game is far to easy once you have grown up a bit, the story is pretty much worthless (stereotypical save the princess) and there are only a handful of enemy types. Not a terrible game, but the older audience will get bored pretty quickly.

While I was only introduced to the Supreme Commander series in the last couple of years, I still think that the first supreme commander game, and its expansion forged alliance are some of the best real time strategy games on the market, and easily compete with other greats such as star craft 2. After I got addicted to the first game and Forged Alliance, I went back on the steam store to find the 2nd game, and being a blind little bat, bought it without reading the reviews. This game broke my heart. Supreme Commander 2 is MASSIVE disappointment, and is a complete downgrade from the original. Instead of adding new elements, like a new faction perhaps, or new game-play options, they stripped away everything that made the original game fantastic, and most importantly original. The tech system has been completely removed in favor of a very generic "upgrade" system in which you can purchase upgrades for the various classes (air, land, sea) using a new in game "research" currency. The huge maps from the original have been removed for the most part, and have now been replaced by small liner ones which take away that awesome feeling of epicness that original had. The units in the game are even fewer than the original game and for the most part are generic and boring. In addition there are some odd game-play choices, for example while constructing a building, you can only have one engineer work on it at once, why?? remember the first game where you would have 50 of them working on those giant experimentals? The campaign is not worth mentioned as its story is average at best, and with the rest of the single player experience being so overwhelmingly disappointing, its up to the multilayer to pick up the slack. which can provide some fun, but thats mostly because it was ripped straight from the original game. The graphics are somehow poorer than Forged Alliance in my opinion, how that happened I have no clue. All in all a HUGE let down for a new player of the franchise, it is a painfully average rts game that is not at all worthy to carry the name supreme commander. and since we haven't heard anything about a third game, this looks like all we will be left with. great.
