Great writing and exploration of a part of British history and current society rarely talked about in mainstream media. Suspenseful and gripping story. Great characters and brilliant acting. Would love a third season. Similar to Happy Valley but not quite as good. Still a brilliant show and well worth watching.

Loved Sharon Horgan in this and her clan of sisters. Not as funny as I thought it would be and a bit more grizzly at times than expected.However it’s dark comedy and easy to watch for the most part. Didn’t love the romance story but he’s eye candy which made up for it. Loved the Irishness of it as well.

I’m a huge fan of the books and thought season 1 and 2 slightly lacking in capturing the magic of Pullmans works. Series 3 was slightly better in this regard with great set pieces, improved acting and much more drama. Also they did well in making an episode 8 series out of a lengthy and fairly complex book. I enjoyed the adaptations they made to the story and characters. Overall exceeded my expectations and want to see more of this perhaps Book of Dust adaptations.

Not great - lacks the wonder, magic and majesty needed to tell this story. So much money has been spent on it but it still feels cheap and cringeworthy. Seems like it a spin off gone wrong with awful script writing, poor acting and a lack of imagination. It’s not intelligent and the result is a mediocre, forgettable, dull tv show. So much could be done with this and as a longtime Tolkien fan, I’m disappointed and despondent for s3 if I even watch it. Plus side is cinematography can be good at times, music is not bad and like the diverse cast.
