The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics0
Feb 16, 2020
Netflix never should have dipped their greedy child-grimed paws into the strategy game genre. What I want from turn based strategy is simple and easy to deliver upon: quick, responsive control schemes and a text based character driven story. Instead, we are given a canned world of warcraft level generic foot montage with cutscenes longer than any other and voice actors that will literally try and rip out their own hair to keep their jobs because their voice is so damaged from alcohol or other dessicant acid use. It is truly a game that seeks to be gory and lewd rather than actually strategic or fun, as it's gameplay bears no challenge or skill, and simply uses a grid mechanism because they wanted to try and get you to do team management, but the levels have no intelligent design and all the characters have mostly the same move points so you're just slamming them into each other and gaining experience. Might as well make a card game netflix, you're that predicative. Every sound effect is obnoxious and will leave you ashamed to have even booted this game up.

Life is Strange 2: Episode 5 - Wolves0

This is an utter downgrade from the previous game, made by square enix development, instead now made by some nobody company. They've chosen to release the game in segments to maximize transaction costs against the customer, and no followup story is finishing the plot. Instead, what we encounter is another linear 3d click through visual novel where half of the decision intervals were scrapped because of lack of developer work and so you really don't get the illusion of choice but instead a menu that's less variety than an hour of playing mass effect. A failing whale of a sequel.

Sid Meier's Civilization VI0

This game has completely lost all nature of challenge and fun over the years. Instead of ever having to learn and optimize strategy, one can easily select all units and production facilities and mash keys to win relentlessly against the luck element which is scarcely challenging. You're better off playing any of the age of empires series because then even if you lose, you still have a familiar and engaging game to get back to where you're taught strategy and rewarded for wise play. Civilization you just have to keep clicking.

Monster Hunter: World - Iceborne0

This game is one of the most repetitive fetchquests that ever reached the console. The "Ice theme" means it lags alot because the graphics are oversaturated and underperforming art that attempts to entrance, but instead just makes the game unnecessarily difficult because everything looks the same and is bland and you can't even follow the story because they're talking all slow and it came out in winter and it isn't even worth playing over something like pokemon snap or runescape where you can actually enjoy an interactive component with the items you're fetching as well as a diverse player experience, here it's just oh did you get to the top of the tower? me too. ok great.

This is one of the best titles on the PS2. It's a platformer like spyro with great control response time and plenty of challenging levels, but without staring at a chimeric booty the whole time, you get instead to focus on the environment with a variety of elemental ranged weapons. And what a great environment it is! Kids will love it.
