This brought back the feels to the good old days for me. Donkey Kong country is one of my favourite franchises of all time with dkc2 being one of my favourite games of all time and this game feels like a direct sequel taking lots of inspiration from 90’s platformers while adding its own unique twist on things. All round a great game with difficult platforming and a brilliant way of changing up the game play from time to time with the mask feature. It’s a must play for any fan of a platformer.

At times this game was really fun! At other times it really wasn’t fun. The decision for no lock on in combat and a very close camera angle to your character are really annoying but not always an issue. Something that was always an issue though (like every 5 minutes) was the dialogue!! What a weird and poor choice to have every character in the game have no actual dialogue and instead replace them with the same narrator voice over and over again. This removes all personality from the NPC’s and gets very tiresome. Not to also mention the need to have to wait for the NPC to speak in there gibberish language before the narrator starts talking and when he does start talking the narrator refers to everything with childish names.

After around 100 hours of playing monster train I can comfortably say that it is the best rouge lite deck builder that I have ever player (yes even better than slay the spire). What at first might seem like a strange concept combining a deck builder with rouge lite elements which also include tower defence mechanics, the three different genres all blend into one brilliant game. There is plenty to keep you going with several unique clans whom all play very different from one another and will make you constantly think on your toes. This is a brilliant game and I cannot recommend this enough. It’s also on game pass so give it a try!

Truly one of the greatest games i have ever played. A beautiful story, incredible platforming and visually one of the most impressive games i have ever played. If you have not given this game a try, please do so, you will not be disappointed.

As a huge fan of deck building games i was sceptical at first of this unique approach to the genre mixing it with rouge like genre, and i must say i was very happy with the final product. With loads of different deck variants along with the unique class builds the game has to offer, there is so many hours of content to this addicting game. 100% worth a try!!

Though this game has a surprisingly dark premises of death surrounding it, i had a smile on my face for most of it, due to the beautiful music and loveable characters. There is a great mix of platforming and micro management throughout the game that allows you to always keep busy bonding with your new friends or exploring a range of islands filled with people to meet and resources to gather. Very happy that i gave this game and try as it is easily one of favourite games of 2020.

What a really nice throwback to old school monster catching. There’s loads of fantastic designs for the mons and there’s a really good humour to the game with coco being a highlight. A good challenge throughout and kept me entertained for around 30 hours. Would say there needs to be some further explanation to basic battle mechanics such as how certain status effects work and how exactly move speed in conjunction with your nexomon speed works. There also needs to be some balancing on both the experience and stamina systems. Overall a really fun game and worth a try for under £20.00
