Mass Effect 39
Aug 27, 2012
Mass effect has always been a series that has been a benchmark for sic-fi role playing games since it was released and with the latest instalment i can't see that changing any time soon. People slate it because they didn't get the ending they wanted or that Bioware changed the game in a way that reaches out to a richer audience, those aren't reasons to give a game a low mark in my opinion. I believe Bioware did everything perfectly except for a few minor problems. The first of which is that the game world restricts you a lot, you can't really venture anywhere whilst on a mission, this problem has been in the franchise all along and all i wished for was for that to change for this instalment. Its more of a insignificant annoyance than a problem to be honest. Another qualm i have is that the romance is still as stiff and awkward as ever, i found in mass effect that if i ran to the person i found most attractive after every mission to merely talk to them for two minutes they would eventually and consensual sex with me, this was both amusing and irritating to me and simply wasted my time. My final problem i see in the game is that the dialogue is a little bit... well... crap. In mass effect 1 and 2 the dialogue was both engrossing and interesting as what people said actually made a difference most of the time. This time round though you'll find yourself talking to people for no visible reason other than to yet again fill them game with time consuming conversation about matters that I'm sure the supposed saviour of the galaxy really shouldn't give damn about. I also need to mention the ending of the game which really does seem to be irritating people doesn't it! But seriously i see no problem with it, it wraps the game up nicely and gives the player a real emotional reaction, if this wasn't the case for you then lets just agree to disagree to you. Now as for the good points, i could sit here all day and tell you how the game is vastly improved on its predecessor, first of the combat both melee and ranged is vastly improved, i really enjoyed trying out different weapons i either bought or unlocked throughout the game and the ways they could be used, it was a fulfilling way to spend my space money. This is the same for armour unlocks and etc. The only problem with the armour is that some times they looked far too similar and that you could only buy full suits of a certain type if lets say you only wanted the helmet. Other than that making yourself look badass was pretty fun and indulging. Another point is also that the story is both brilliant and emotional, at some points it really hits home whats actually happening and at others it keeps you engrossed to the point where you'll not want t stop playing as you want to find out what happens next. My final point is going to be that the characters are just as interesting and boring as ever, some like garrus will keep you laughing and others will make you wish the conversation would hurry up but the most important thing is that Bioware have done a brilliant job in rounding off the relationships you have built with your crew members and how you come to terms with them before you set out on your final mission. Overall then this game is brilliant with just a few problems which i have outlined, these shouldn't keep you from playing it and enjoying the ride just as much as i did.

Fallout: New Vegas9
Mar 2, 2012
Let me start by saying this game has never been glitchy or buggy in my time playing with it, it has never crashed, broken or stop working. Most peopleseem to have different stories to mine but after 42 hours of gameplay fallout has yet agian captured my heart and imagination. Fallout 3 in my opinion was a better game due to a larger world, more quests and generally more populated environment.I'll start with the bad points; some of the quests are very dull and long, they aren't very exciting at some points but in contrast some are fun, interesting and replayable. Another poor mention is no sprint button and being 'overcucumbered' at very annoying times, this can lead to frustration and boredom. Also unlike fallout 3 some of the quests are very obscure and this causes people to use the wiki for almost everything which can ruin the story, remember to use it in moderation. And the final bad thing is probably, the wasteland can get very lonely and unless you have online so you can talk to your friends, it can get boring and like me i abandoned it for a while and couldn't get back into the story etc so i had to start again. The good things are the combat has been improved marginally with the inclusion of ironsights and guns feel heaftier and more accurate. Another thing is the huge amount of things to do if you can find them, there are mini objectives such as finding all the snowglobes, mini nukes etc, this for me was very fun and helped me expore the world in full, i probably would never have found some of the locations Also you may feel compelled by a longer and stronger storyline this time round with the main aim at the end obviously Vegas. Some momens of pure brilliance occur in the game and suprisingly obsidian really did deliver a very Fallouty sort of game, the sub developers really did capture the magic of the Fallout universe.

Batman: Arkham City10
Nov 1, 2011
Game of the year for me, as with all games a few problems occur but ill get to them. Overall this game is very linear and simple except for the riddler challenges but it is very simple to play. This is what makes it great. Amazing graphics and physics, brilliant story and pacing and the best combat in a game yet. It is a thouroughly enjoying game and is definatly worth getting. All you have to do is defeat penguin and the fun really does begin.

Battlefield 37
Nov 1, 2011
Let me start by saying i didnt like any battlefield games before this at all as i found that it was too orientated on being a high level online and having alot of experience in shooters in the campaign. This time round i gave it a shot and to me i missed. Its not a bad game at all but it is defiently not a AAA game that all the professionals call it. I feel its a step down in a way as i did in fact find it enjoying in battlefield games to destroy the terrain and so much was promised yet not delivered. it is extemely hard to destory buildings unless you are in a tank and it takes frustratinly long to level up online, but now i have my fully kitted out medic class, im ready to go. the campaign is basically trying to copy cod in every perspective. its no longer a wide open map and great tactical attacks but more macho americans barking at you. Its very short like cod but the gamerscore total is easy to achieve. Online is almost immposible to play with friends i have found and i dont like i that you have different classes. Its a very frustrating game overall online but pretty fun. And if you think im a cod fanboy then i dont particularly like cod either, im most likely gonna give MW3 a 7/8. As a conclusion, wait till its cheap and then buy it because its not worth £45

Gears of War 39
Oct 11, 2011
What a game, its quite interesting how people say they hate gears games and then play this and want more. Its like a drug. I'll start with the bad points first, its a bit repetetive. The campaign has great locations, veiws and action but at all these consist of roll here and take cover there moments. I think its a great game to play in co-op but i didnt feel interested in playing the campaign again other than in arcade (another great adition). Horde mode 2.0 adds a new level of fun to it but yet again on your own its less fun more repetetive. The same with beast mode a great new addition but on your own its pretty boring, i think beast mode is the weakest link in the game as it has a max level of twelve you can reach which takes 15-20 mins whereas on horde you could be there for hours. Now onto mulitplayer, i need to say this... how is the sawn off shotgun n00by, please tell me. I love it, its a great way to kill someone, as you charge acroos the battlefield you blow people to peices. The gnasher on the other hand is the n00byer in my opinion, with more ammo a quicker reload, more range, more power at range, can also get one hit kills at close range its a far more n00bish weapon. the sawn off on the other hand has less ammo, awful range and the longest reload in the game but at around 2-3ft away from someone its a one hit kill. Now to tell you about the mltiplayer in whole, its great! better than BOPS, battlefield, crysis, homefront and any other multiplayer. The game modes are short and few but they are brilliant and the new servers and unlocks make it a must have. Overall its a great game and you cant take that away from it, love it or hate it, it has alot of fans and they are very loyal, dont get your hopes up on convincing people other wise, this is a must buy.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution5

Im sorry deus ex but really? i was personally lookng forward to this game for years, i always had faith but what a pile of s**t. The graphics are good, the story is good, the shooting is good but the whole do it anyway thing is complete and utter bull. the AI ****, they do laps and have the same routine non stop,i can stand 1 foot away from a guard and he wouldnt notice me. Although, it does have the best mission in a game ever. In the detroit police station, i wont say anything else but after that it all goes downhill. achievments are so effing hard and missions consist of get into building, find someone/something and get out. great fun for thirty hours, i got bored and traded it in for gears 3, a much better game with multiplayer!!!Online!!!!Co-op!!!and a decent story. dont buy it until its cheap, its simply not worth £30

Fallout 310

What ever your opinion on Fallout games before this, you need to rethink your ideas. If you thought oblivion was good (or bad) there is no denying this is an excellent game. If your not sure whether to but this game, let me put it to you this way ****, £15, thats it for a thirty hour game and five peices of DLC worth 800msp each. Although it can be frustrating at times and sometimes youll want to puch your console for megafailing at killing a deathclaw and i can tell you before you do something you may regret SAVE, i can tell you how much i've wanted to kill everyone in the game but to do that would be foolish, not if you had a save before though... either way this game is unquestionably good and for everyone ou there, all you have to do is install and no more bugs/glitches!!! FALOUT FTW!!!

Crysis 210

I have to say i haven't played this game in about a month but i still think its fun, the campaign is good enough. Its not short, the graphics are stunning and the missions are fun and not repetetive, but the AI are ****, i mean they must have made them this way because in supersoldier all i have to do is go invisible and break all their puny little necks. The Multiplayer is fun, its not as good as black ops, battlefield etc but its a blast with a group of friends as you all really try and compete, the one problem with the multiplayer is that people are n00bs and sad overwieght ****, they either camp invisibly or are such a high level that they can see where you are even when your invisible, it sort of defeats the point.

Brink4
May 15, 2011
At first it looks good, if you've seen the trailers, watched the E3 gameplay, it looks solid. It looks like a decent shooter, team based game modes look fun but working together to complete objective is necessary to finish the game. But also look i died again after my AI friend failed to protect me as i plant whatever this is on whatever that is. At the very least for the first three hours you'll find it fun and easy to complete missions and then you'll reach the final day of either the rebel faction or the security faction and the difficulty will grind up over noticably. I would have given this game an 8 or 9 if it weren't for the horrid graphics in gameplay and the **** AI (no offence intended). I sat there watching a blur of a man trying to run through a wall when he had the something i needed planting somewhere sometime soon (3 mins to be exact) but no he couldnt move i stood there clearing out enemy after enemy as he didnt move and the timer did, so i turned off my console and i havent touched Brink since (its been about 2 days). I have no problems with the challenge system and i found it fun having to do it to unlock weaponry and not to metion how easy achievments were but the main problrms are the no lobby system and the awfull lag i had to endure even with the new virgin 50mb per sec it **** basically and that people could join your game.

Dead Space 23

Why would you give this game a ten out of ten, i'm sorry but why? I'm not gonna say everyone's fanboys but I cant see your reason. I love DS1, it is ranked way up there in my top ten but what DS1 did was new and scary and actually interesting, it had a fudging story! DS2 is a tedious romp through repetetive areas that get old. The puzzles are awfull i have to say and the enemies are the same, come on at least change a bit, oh look babies thats it really and they get old too after the tenth time it to minutes almost getting killed, i found that i had to put on the hardest difficulty after half an hour. Its not even scary, in DS1 i had to have all the lights on and the curtains open in the day to play it, this... i would give this to my six year old brother. It is an awfull game not worth buying even if you want the online which is even worse as it is just as repetetive and dull, God save anyone who buys it.

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition10
Mar 16, 2011
To me this game is the best RPG ever, in this package you get all the DLC except for the feastday combo pack which is awfull in my opinion. We all know how good dragon age is already but giving you over 100 hours of gaming joy for under £20 is a bargain.

Call of Duty: Black Ops9
Mar 15, 2011
Well its good and i'll give it that, it ties everything the call of duty franchise has with a pretty bow and has chucked in what every call of duty fan wanted. I would say though before i rant about how good it is, do not get it if you havent got xbox live gold it is a waste of money. So back to the rant, zombies is a robust package and a blast with people you know and dont. I have made around twenty friends just playing zombies and my aspiration is to reach number one on ascension but i do have to say at round thirty when it last half an hour to get to round thirty-one you do get bored so i admire you glitchers for your patience. That then of course brings me onto the glitches, oh so many! each zombie map has one and even a few multiplayer ones but i wont spread them around. I must say the campaign story is a pile of **** at only seven hours or six for me, the only reason i finished it was for the bonus zombie map because i hate cheating. The multiplayer is where it stands out though, everything MW2 had and more, the sounds with my turtle beaches are awesome and the graphics are stunning in 1080p, this has to be the best COD ever for me, i hope then next carries everything this has onto it.

Bulletstorm5
Mar 15, 2011
Where to start, the horrid story, the useless servers or possibly the awfull cutscenes. Bulletstorm has split me in two. I love the new skillshot system including some hilarious but down right wierd ones but what bulletstorm does is it ruins what it has with its awfull dialouge and how long it takes to complete, five hours... oh how atrocious. We live in a world where people damn call of duty to the fiery pits of hell with its seven to eight hour storyline yet they can say ''oh look this shooter its so long it took me ten hours to finish''. What i believe bulletstorm has done is thrown a spanner in the works, this game will undoubtedly split people, one day i hated the game as i felt it was far too repetetive, then i found new fuuny skillshots and loved it but the more you play you realise this isnt to fun im gonna try something fun and the unrewarding system denies you and down right hilarious shot. The online is atrocious i was unable to find one game in twenty attempts but with friends and communication it is one of the best online games ever but only one game mode is just so underwhelming. I think that if epic game kept the game in the oven for a bit longer and refined its amazing mechanics such as kick and slide and change the length and the whole campaign to be honest. I find that its too repetative as you simply go forward, kick something or someone kill X amount of people in Y area. The graphics are stunning yet the game is let down by the univentiveness of the area as you dont change location throughout. Overall i think that it was made too quickly and that has let it down, a more refined game would get my vote.
