Brink can be awesome and annoying, euphoric and inexplicable, all in the same breath. Unfortunately, fist pumps are followed by fits of controller throwing all too regularly to make this one score much higher.

Interesting but unpolished, ambitious but too weak to lift the weight of these ambitions. What bothered me most was that the brilliant idea of bringing other players into your single player mode was not realized properly. [June 2011, p.80]

This game was pushed as it was going to change the industry forever. But it just set games back by a decade. Not enjoyable a waste of money.

Parkour elements are fun and the character customization is awesome but overall pretty half baked. Campaign is just multiplayer maps with AI. Multiplayer is fun but poorly balanced. Overall forgettable.

I saw the Bethesda logo on the cover of the Xbox 360 game Brink and was looking forward to a great gaming time. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. The beginning of the game is amusing. The controls are good and the campaign is fun. But the graphics and animations are just ok and the characters move like bricks. Even the multiplayer is disappointing after some matches.

If you're looking for an in-depth, engaging experience that rewards practise and team work, and represents a welcome break from the stagnate place the genre has found itself, then you can do a lot worse than Brink. If you're looking for a drop-in/drop-out, ten-minutes-a-night-and-I'm-done shooter then you could do a lot better than Brink.

I like Brink quite a bit, but it's definitely not for everyone. The cumbersome interface is the antithesis of the modern streamlined shooter. If you can get past all the obstacles the game puts in your way, there's a lot of fun to be had here.

This is a great game and you need it. For 13.00 at gamestop this is awesome! My opinion is that the price should be higher! So, you need this game now.

The game Brink is one that could use a bit more polish then what is on it. The real problem with it over everything else is the lack of a decent party system which is needed for a game like Brink. The amount of teamwork required for a "skunk" isn't at all that much, just that players need to play their classes like they were designed. The thing I don't understand is why Bethesda (the publisher, mind you) is getting so much flak for a game they didn't even create. Splash Damage (the developer) did a fantastic trying to bring the FPS genre out of the same crap seen in every COD/Halo/enter generic shooter title here. The addition of the free running only adds to this. The in game art, the character design and the use of color makes this one very pretty game to look at. The classes were well thought out and essentially this game is a smaller class based game like TF2 but with customizable weapon loadouts. The only thing I did not like about this game, other then the lack of a party system, was the fact that you could unlock almost every gun and attachment in about a good 20 minutes of playing the challenges. If they would of spread the attachments out as well as the weapons people would still be playing this like crazy just like the do with their CODs and Halos to unlock everything that they wanted to. COD with the weapons and Halo with the outfits. But overall, it's an excellent game.

A familiar class-based, objective-based multiplayer shooter that is immensely rewarding when played online with others.

If you have a gang of friends to play with regularily, Brink is fantastic. Proper communication makes solving the different tasks a wonder, and at times, this is one of the best games I have played in the genre. However, you never truly know what you get with Brink, due to the rubbish bots and uncertain online team composition. As a game it is simply too unpredictable.

Worth Playing
Brink's PR did everything to make people wonder just how the eight-versus-eight multiplayer-focused, story-based shooter would change the genre. The short answer lies in the clever tweaks it brings to the formula, whether it's your character's body type or the vast weapon customization options, all the way down to the teamwork needed to succeed. The SMART system feels more like a gimmick, and when it gets down to the actual shooting, it's nothing that we haven't seen before. Top that off with the issues it tries to parkour over, both off- and online, and Brink isn't so much of a revolution as it is a suggestion of where it wants to be.

I'd love to see more of the parkour gameplay, but one mechanic isn't enough to carry an entire game. Brink has heart, but the overall package is lacking.

Brink is unfinished. And that doesn't mean it's full of technical problems. Well, it's got those too. But mostly, it's just an unpolished, poorly executed mess of ideas.

Brink is a game that many may put on the back burner because it is not another Call of Duty carbon copy, but what it is is an engaging first person shooter that does lack in a story, but many people I know do not even play the story mode in these types of games opting instead to go straight for the multiplayer. If you want to play a game with great story, but no on-line play go play L.A. Noire, but if you want to play a futuristic FPS in the vein of Battlefied then hop on Brink and enjoy the ride.

I really like Brink, I planed on playing both the story's, but there is one level called Early Launch (day 6 of the Security story) where the AI is SO bad that I cant win, they go off to get the health command post (That you don't need) and leave me as the only one going after the main objective (The mission is timed btw) the first objective get's done fine, but the 2nd one.......Other then the awful friendly AI and sort of clunky controls I really like Brink, and I would say yeah, give it a go, I got it for 3$ anyway but if you're going to make a timed team based shooter, make sure the friendly AI doesn't ****

Brink is a surprisingly fun and refreshing fps in a world full of military Sims. Sure it has its issues like a lack of polish, a non existent story and lots of bugs, but if you feel swamped by traditional fps, brinks cool ideas and interesting mechanics are what you need.

Brink was massively previewed. The stage was set. It failed to deliver. It was sadly, over hyped. Brink is too difficult even on the easier difficulties, and the story is lacking depth and any genuine intrigue.

This game had so much potential, but it was poorly executed. The textures are washed out, the gameplay is sub-par and the shooting isn't great. The A.I. is poor and the game-modes aren't intriguing enough to warrant more than one playthrough. If they end up making a sequel, I hope the ideas get executed properly.
