Another publisher releases a game in a poor state. Returned and got my money. I don't need their too late apology and damage control tweet to tell me my rights. In my country they are quite clear.

Tyranny: Bastard's Wound2
Mar 5, 2019
Awful bland DLC/expansion. Boring, tedious and doesn't feel like it really contributes anything. And more dark gloomy places to trawl through. *sigh*. Feels about as connected to the rest of the game as Tales of the Sword Coast did to Baldur's Gate. And that was twenty *bleep*ing years ago. BG was at the forefront of a then new-ish style of computer gaming. Tyranny does not have that excuse. Should know better by now!

A slight (overall) improvement on Pillars of Eternity but the result is simply not good enough. T vs PoE (very similar style of game but different setting/story):- So glad I got this in a sale because the few improvements (visuals, plot concept) are wiped out by technical issues (why does a basic non-3D game like this have such long load times?!), sluggish combat that feels like turn-based its so awkward (but still not as bad as PoE), inferior (for the most part) companions to the players protagonist and... Worst of all we now have a new entry in my personal top ten most disappointing video game endings. A damp squib of an ending. If not a full-on Outro I expect a decent wrap-up that took more than five minutes to write, *expletive deleted* even the much older game (different developer etc.) Dragon Age: Origins did the Ending better.

Life is Feudal: Forest Village2

Far too buggy to be a worthy successor to Banished. Could have been the next best thing but still riddled with core game-breaking bugs. If you're happy to play a game that modders have to fix, this is for you.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt2

The game looks fabulous and sounds great. Set pieces great. I'm just tired of "forgetting" my skills and power between games. First chapel thing out of the first village? BOOM! Arse kicked by a stupid wraith or some such. "red" enemy.... *expletive deleted*. The first Witcher game was forgiven a lot, because did a lot of other stuff nicely. But CDPR have a LOT more resources now and by #3 all the pretty visuals in the world do not make up for what is more of a reboot than sequel for a character who looks and sounds awesome but handles like a truck, not someone with Jedi reflexes.

Fabulous. I bought and played BG:EE recently and just moved onto this. While the interface and mechanics are missing a couple minor tweaks that BG has received I'd forgotten how lush the visuals are. Some of the backdrops looks like wonderful paintings in their own right. Yes, it's a different game to BG pr P:T, yes there's more combat and less 'story' but it's great fun in it's own context!a

Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty4

The game is not good enough to overcome the bad feeling of renting something that I should own. Blizzard even intellectually insult me by telling me I own it after I registered their game code that locks StarCraft to me.

This game is a breath of fresh air. I picked up on sale as I was looking for a good old-fashioned, not complicated, shooter. I was disappointed with the new Wolfensteins and was looking for something with more action, some skill but not too much brainwork. BINGO! The graphics and sound are just about acceptable (for this day and age), but the basic shooty gameplay is just right for me. I have head-scratchy RPGs if I want to think. When I want to unwind, this is the ticket.

Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part 13
Oct 12, 2016
The game itself was fine, and is the second best of it's ilk to come along since all those old Infinity Engine games. Visually I liked it, sound was fine and the party system was fine. Quests and story? Fine. What's wrong with it? Minus a few points for very poor encounter design & planning in certain locations. Minus a zillion points for there *still* being serious bugs (e.g. entire character inventory disappears).

Looks nice, sounds okay, with plenty of action when I want it. An okay game saddled with the awful Uplay. I already have a platform that the game WAS BOUGHT ON, Steam. Why do I need another platform?

Alan Wake5
Sep 13, 2015
Concept and story were fine. Console roots, accepted. Graphics just about okay. But in this day and age I expect visuals that work. Alan has inertia like from some games over ten years old. Character models too wooden for a current/recent title (Bioshock Infinite had this problem too). And most annoyingly lyp sync seems to be something the developers decided was not even a "nice to have".

Elite: Dangerous5

Nice idea. Would have been happy with less tweaks on making it big and more on making it good. I've played almost all the space sims that there's been, and this one is not in the top 10. Okay, but not worth the £40 they're charging at the moment.

BioShock Infinite5

The games looks okay, until people move and talk. In this day and age I expect models that are a bit less 'wooden'. Sound is excellent as is the story. Though I am still not a major fan of Bioshock in general (BS1 was good but not a classic) this was better. Despite some available DLC, I did not feel any replay value. But then, I haven't seen Sixth Sense more than once. Games and movies with major twists often have this problem though.

Neverwinter1

The game looks good. Wizards are okay and warriors feel okay. But... Clerics are so badly designed one wonders if the team on them ever actually played D&D. But that's not why the game is poor overall. Like most MMOs NW fails to make my character feel special. I have no need to be a foot-soldier. I feel like that in my office. In a game I want to be a proper hero. Also, PvP? Broken/hideous. Back-end security for the game? Seemingly non-existent. Never write down or communicate your details? Never download and open trojans etc? Protect your PC and do all your 'housekeeping'? You can still get hacked and customer service won't help you!

Dungeon Siege III3
May 8, 2014
Proof that good graphics do not guarantee a good game. I don't always go for open world or sandbox games, they often don't tell their story very well. So Dungeon Siege III being mostly linear is not necessarily a minus point. One of the few things it shares with it's predecessors. Almost everything apart from the graphics is poor. Combat is turgid, character "ability" design and structure is too basic and console-y and audio is poor. Especially the mostly mediocre voice acting.

Nice idea. Nice visuals. Gameplay okay. Music nice. Bad QA/QC, poor optimisation, variable voice acting (some very poor), some questionable design (e.g. skills/perks).

Sorry to buck the trend, but preferred BL1. The art style here is even further away from what I want and expect. Comics are for looking at and reading, not for playing. Call me old fashioned....
