Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown8
Jan 29, 2024
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown ReviewPrince of Persia the Lost Crown is the latest installment from the long running series Prince of Persia by Ubisoft. This time around you play as Sargon an Immortal Guard sworn to protect the royal family of Persia. However, when the crown is betrayed, and the prince is kidnapped it is up to Sargon and the other Immortal’s to rescue him. If only things could be that easy. The prince is taken to an ancient temple where things are not quite what they seem. Time and reality bends outside the laws of physics, things are not what they seem. Can Sargon rescue the prince or is there more impending danger in store for him? Overall, the story of The Lost Crown was enjoyable. With betrayal, twists, and great side characters pacing perfectly between the short stories. I can’t say it will leave you wanting to experience it again however, some of the side characters would make for some entertaining DLC. The Lost Crown is a 2D platformer Metroidvania style game, if you do not know what that means than let me explain. Metroidvania is a genre of game which mixes Metroid and Castlevania gameplay. Typically, in these games you have an enormous map with bits and pieces being unable to be explored. As you progress through the game you are welcomed with new abilities that allow you access to these previously unobtainable areas. These areas feature treasures, abilities, or a new path to continue the story. As Metroidvania games go this one definitely ticks all the boxes of what makes this style of game so great. The map isn’t overly huge to where you don’t want to explore it all. The puzzle areas while some can be hard, aren’t too complex to where you don’t want to complete them. While on the subject puzzles I think Ubisoft did a fantastic job at the puzzle sections of this game. With just the right amount of challenge, you will be testing your wits as you try and complete these fantastically laid out puzzle sections. These only get better when they add in the new abilities that you get while progressing through the game. Getting a new unique ability and being able to see the many ways you could use it while doing these puzzles was one of my favorite parts of this game. The Lost Crown’s combat is very fluid. Early on I felt like it was too simplistic with a lot of the first few hours being just tapping square as I fought enemies. As you get further in and unlock new abilities you are greeted with a unique combat style that does a great job at not becoming stale. These new abilities are unlocked at a good pace in contrast to the story. With each new ability adding to your overall arsenal and allowing for some pretty cool combinations of attacks. Within the realm of combat is the boss fights, which was probably my favorite part of the game. Each boss fight felt completely different from the last one. Yes, most of these were challenging however, it was a blast trying to figure out the patterns of attacks and the perfect timing to unleash combos on these bosses. Now before we finish this up let’s talk about the issues with the game. Prince of Persia has a good number of bugs and glitches that I ran across that really affected its score. Simple issues like enemies falling into the ground or game crashes is just the starting point. I had it to where I accepted a quest, and the game just froze up on me. Another part where the background disappeared and my character just floated until ultimately, he just froze, forcing me to quit and reopen the game. Interacting with chests requires a simple press of up on the right joystick, however this would require multiple swipes up or moving away from the chest and going back. This is just to name a few of the many issues I ran into during my 14 hours with the game. Overall, I enjoyed my time with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. The story was good, combat while starting off bland managed to become enjoyable after a bit. The game features unique and exciting boss fights and is a well-paced adventure that doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. The game falters quite a bit with how unpolished it is. From the numerous bugs and glitches that caused way too many headaches, to the game crashes that took away from the overall experience of the game. I would suggest Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown but you may give it a bit for the issues to be patched. I would give Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown a 7.5 out of 10... 8 since Metacritic doesn't allow half scores.

MK1 is a revamped soft reboot of a long time running series. The story was interesting but besides the first part I felt the story started to stumble pretty early on. Towards the end utter chaos and what felt like jumbled writing really was showcased. The gameplay is a blast like always but suffers from some issues like pop ins or visual glitches. The new mode invasion is a welcome addition to series that sees you playing a MK table top type game. I would give MK1 and 8.5 out of 10 (rounded up due to no .5 options)

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless7
Oct 4, 2023
Disgaea 7 features a sub par story with some characters that have the most annoying quirks I have seen. Not only do these characters have annoying quirks but you are reminded of them in almost every sentence these characters speak. The story is just ok, nothing really made it enjoyable and it wasn't till the final chapter that I found any enjoyment from the story. The battle system is more of the same from previous entries with a few new bells and whistles. Jumbifying your character creates these epic Kajiuesqe battles. Hell mode can be activated to try and give your characters a edge in combat. Overall I enjoyed the combat I think the biggest glaring issue is the stage layouts can sometimes make selecting your character or navigating the stage difficult. With the cursor sometimes getting lost behind objects. I do feel like this newest entry is incredibly easy compared to 6. I appreciate that it wasn't as difficult but there should be a sort of balance that should have been found. Be sure to check out the full review for Disgaea 7 on my YT ****/watch?v=BtTuBpLa8Po&t=10s

I can't put my finger on why I'm enjoying Exoprimal. Mindless Dinosaur killing maybe? The story is just ok but for some reason I find myself wanting to play more. The thrill of seeing thousands of dinosaurs falling down from the sky. It's a seriously fun time. However I wonder if Exoprimal will have anything to keep a player for the long haul. What happens once everything is maxed? What incentive do I have to want to play more? That is yet to be seen but currently Exoprimal is my biggest surprise game of the year. A sleeper for sure!

I loved my time with Digimon Survive. The game is a Visual novel with a heavy amount of visual novel and light amount of gameplay. Early on the gameplay is very fun but late game and NG+ it becomes a repetitive time with no challenge. Survive shines with it's story. A Dark Twisted take on Digimon, Survive will have you rethinking your choices and fighting to Survive

When you start the game you will have many questions. A lot of these questions will never be answered. But thus is life. I am going to do my best to explain this game so try not to get lost in all the weirdness. So like I said you play as a no named character either male or female, you are thrown into hell with the only way out being to get 5 tickets to get to heaven. Once in heaven you can get any wish you want. Easy enough? Well to get those tickets you must dispel Belle’s Hells. Which are personal hells of girls who have let things in their life turn them down a path of evil by getting rid of the poison that fills their hells. Along the way you will have to defeat klesha’s that also plague these hells in your battle to go back to the living realm. With the help of your Poisonette which was a Klesha that stole your body, you complete these requests as they come through the radio in hell. Damn us all to hell as the radio hosts would say.. Ok that was a lot to take in I understand. It is a very confusing story and it just gets worse the more that is explained. So let’s keep going. These Belles hells are personal hells that they have created. The belle of the hell will either be alive or be dead which leads to a very confusing distinction on whether you are in a living belle or a dead belles hell. I will say that some of the story lines from inside these hells are intense and interesting. I normally do not like to spoil anything story related in games but for an example one of the hell’s has you in a little girls hell. Her pet dog died and her mom burned the dogs body. (not sure why she did it in front of the kid or what not but hey not my kid.) the little kid asked why she was doing that and the mother dismissed the kid and just said so she can go to heaven. The kid got to thinking and asked what happens if heaven gets to full does the souls come back and the mom tells her yea whatever again dismissing the kids feelings on the incident. This leads the kid down a path of killing animals to try to overcrowd heaven. When that doesn’t work the kid devises a plan to kill her mom in hopes that the dog and her mom would come back. This is where you step in to explain to the kids soul (again confusing if the kids not dead) that hey don’t do that. This is what happens and so on so forth. This was a just one of the moments which there are few like this where I often found myself pausing the game and telling my friends of the next crazy hell I did. The gameplay is fun but repetitive, you go into a hell. Clear poison, kill the klesha’s by shooting them. Rinse and repeat. There are a few different klesha’s you fight and a few guns that you get to choose from but that is about it, Level design changes between the hell’s. you will see some level designs come back depending on what hell you are in. But like I said it’s fun. I wouldn’t say it’s revolutionary gameplay or anything like that. but it has some really unique concepts and if they were to build on this game with a sequel then we may have something special. Now onto my favorite part of this game. The music, As I type this review up I have the soundtrack playing in the background getting me in the groove as if I was playing the game. From songs that are reminiscent of old sega genesis games while other songs give me a persona vibe. It was a welcome addition to the game.

Psychonauts 28

Psychonauts 2 is a great platformer, Psychonauts 2 is a good game. Psychonauts 2 is also not a polished game, at least on Playstation. From Constant.... I mean Constant frame rate drops, characters getting stuck in objects or falling through the floor. Insane load times and wonky camera angles Psychonauts 2 has it's issues. However this doesn't take away from the awesome story and the fun gameplay. There is a lot to love about Psychonauts 2. I just wonder if the PlayStation version is not a superior as other ones. I highly recommend this game if you are a fan of platformers.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon9
Mar 7, 2022
Yakuza Like a Dragon is an amazing game to say the least. A JRPG set in a real world setting, Real world elements like taxi's being used for fast travel being just one of the super unique ideas put in this game. With a truly unique story, Highly likeable characters and epic combat what could be wrong with this game. Well for starters with this turning into a turned based JRPG while keeping true to some Yakuza elements characters can sometimes get stuck on environments when fighting which can cause you to miss attacks. the game does have some bugs as well but overall Like a Dragon is a game I would highly recommend to any JRPG fan.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles8
Oct 22, 2021
Demon Slayer on PS5 is almost a carbon copy of Naruto Ninja Storm. It plays almost identical. If you are a fan of the Ninja Storm Series then this game is for you. You follow the first season of Demon Slayer almost perfectly lining with the anime. This continues on to Mugen Train. It was nice to recreate these moments and play through them however I didn't feel any sense of excitement. It was things I had already seen so I wasn't blown away at any point. The game doesn't have side quests either so you are on a linear path with no real exploration minus walking a few steps outside your path to get a memory shard. the game is beautiful and the fighting is smooth and well polished. My biggest gripe of the game is the amount of playable characters. There is about 10 characters with multiple duplicate characters. there is a lot to be looking forward to in future games but as it stands demon slayer is a good starting point for those wanting to get introduced to the series or a fun game to revisit the series.

One Piece: World Seeker5

One Piece World Seeker Is a beautiful One Piece game with fun combat and gorgeous art. But is that enough? The answer is no. One Piece world Seeker Platinum Review Where I Platinum the game then review it. So you get a full review. Let me start by saying I was blown away when this first was announced. It's a beautiful One Piece game and is definitely worth playing. However the game is super repetitive and the story is dull. It's missions are copy and paste for most of the game. The game is super fun and enjoyable but with it's glitches and just overall boring story/ game it makes it hard to really recommend this. However the saving grace of this game is how fun it is. Match that with it's gorgeous art style it makes it hard to downplay this game or keep anyone from getting it. if you want a fun One Piece game with an original story get this game. Just don't expect to be blown away by the actual gameplay. Past the super fun combat and very good ability system the game doesn't have a lot to keep you coming back. Sadly this game gets a 5 out of 10. Check out Platinum Reviews on Youtube for more Reviews

I had a long review typed and metacritic crashed so that's funnnn. so i will keep it short this time. This game is garbage. from so many glitches almost a year after launch, just goes to show how much the developers cared about this game. but hey at least they created a game. microtransactions and repetitive game play is not the only thing that bring this game down to a 1. stay clear of this heap of garbage. Can you believe people gave it a 10... because I can't
